What to eat after cardio?

I've been reading that doing cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach is a good thing so that is what I have been doing for the last two weeks. I usually wake up at 6:30 am and head off to the gym and either jog/run on treadmill or ride the stationary bike from about 7:00-8:00. My question is what should I eat when I get home from the gym....a big meal, small meal, protein drink, other?

well this is what I do after my routine I drink 8-10oz grape juice with my creatine , muscle are like sponges after good lifting, and the simple complex carbs are easily used up for a quick muscle recovery, then when I get home 1/2 to 90 min I eat a meal that is high in protein with some carbs ,not sure if this would work for cardio ,but I've used it for years with lifting and 20 min of cardio.. hope it helps

When I do cardio in the am, and that's a big WHEN, I do it first thing empty stomach. I usually run/jog/sprint for about 30 minutes or until I burn about 500 calories, whichever comes first. I then eat usually 30 minutes afterwards if I can wait that long. I eat a true meal, filled with protein. Protein shake come 1.5-2 hrs later. Just me though.

After I get done with my morning cardio, I will usually wait about a half and hour and I drink a protein shake and I take all of my other supplements. This is what I have been doing for the last month and it works great for me, I usually only have the protein shake because I cant eat after a hour of hard cardio, just my thoughts on what I do.

I do morning cardio on an empty stomach - then I'll have 40 grams of protein and 1/2 cup of oatmeal.

Dont you just love it when people respond to your post that is 100% irrevalent for the question at hand.......

make me wonder if people are even reading to help others, or are they just interested in themselves.

Do your am cardio on an empty tank, wait 1 HOUR after you are done, and have a solid protein, carb, efa meal. I usually have:

3/4 cup steel cut
1 cup egg whites
250g of dry curd cottage cheese and a few berries, banana slices, tossed in.
