What Lestat thinks about the baseball strike and how it changed the sport.

I think I'm losing steam here.. my posts are getting shorter.

I thought the strike was going to do the sport in for good, and I wished it had.

I think that the owners have too much control and the players should get more.... BUT I think the players are getting outrageous now with the salaries and its destroying the "fun" of the game (if there ever was any).

I was glad to have the break from baseball, I find it very boring to watch.

They strike again f-them i hope they dont come back. Any sport that bitch they dont make enough money to play a game can screw off. How can the lowest player making big 6 figures to work 8 months a year bitch and moan they dont make enough..

There are two major problems in MLB:

1) Overpaid, out-of-touch snobbish athletes who forget it's a team sport, don't listen to their coaches/managements, and demand huge, long-term contracts just so that their production numbers can slip after signing.

2)Cost of attending a game is to high, especially for a family. The high cost of attending a game is decreasing the chance that young children will latch on to the sport.

How to solve those problems:

1. SALARY CAP/Pay the athletes less money, and redistribute that money to the fans by lowering ticket and concession prices so that people, especially families with children, can attend game more often. This will further spread the popularity of the sport, as more younger children can afford to attend games and experience the magic and awe of seeing a MLB game at a ballpark.

2. Only allow 1 year contracts to player with less than 3 years MLB experience; then increase that to allowing 2 year contracts to players with 3 years experience. After 5 years of experience, and players have had to bust their ass every year and not play like crap because they just signed a 10 year, $100 million dollar contract, then they can sign for long-term deals. This will provide greater incentive for the player to play harder and give it their all.
