What is the point of "pre-workout" drinks?

Yes, I'm old. Back in the day when I was at my peak, nobody took pre-workout drinks. I've looked at the labels on some of them and it just looks like mostly expensive caffeine. A waste of money if you ask me.

Some of the newer versions help increase pumps,,lactic acid build help,,plus energy and focus.
I REALLY like the AMP Citrate and DMAA based ones.

Preworkouts are the only worthwhile supplement you can buy from gnc. They give you crazy energy, endurance, pumps, focus, and might increase some of your lifts. You build up a tolerance quick and when you run out you go through withdrawls and won't want to train, or you buy another bottle and end up frying your adrenal glands. They really improve performance but if you are sensitive to stimulants stay away. You can't have a social life because you're still cracked out when you leave the gym until you crash which brought on mood swings and crazy anxiety in my case. Couldn't sleep either. If you want to give it a shot anyway usp labs jack3d is the best one i've taken

There's only one thing they can do. Dramatically increase your blood pressure.

its for people who depend on sugar and caffeine to get energy for their workouts, instead of eating a proper pre workout meal.

it is like running your car on fumes vs. putting in high octane gasoline. seems to be the younger dudes who started this nonsense following zyzz and the like. of course your heart and body becomes so weak that you can barely stand up

I will say this works very well for getting 'ripped and weak' as I call it. however long term not only will you develop an addiction where you cannot do any sort of physical activity without the stimulants, but you also will age quicker from the lack of sleep and recovery you are getting .. and it becomes counter productive. remember to achieve stage 3 or 4 sleep you MUST not have stimulants in your system. that stage of sleep is the ONLY stage where you actually repair at the cellular level. so essentially this means you recover less fast and over time it adds up. this means less strength and less muscle

best thing to do is throw out your pre workouts, and stick to eating a healthy pre workout meal like sweet potato, rice, maybe some baked chicken/fish, and a piece of fruit. if you are centered around cardio then eat 2 hours beforehand so you do not throw up

the funny thing these ripped up 25 year old guru's on youtube giving advice always tell you to eat 6 meals a day, hit your macro's etc. yet in reality they themselves might eat 1 or 2 meals a day and are just on stims all day. talk about hypocrisy! they don't even follow them own advice. we will see where they are in 10 years, either dead or on harder drugs cause their addiction

PS. caffeine also inhibits GABA... that's why you see caffeine addicts are nervous wrecks and shaky and high strung all the time. and the dirty secret is as you age GABA will drop so the effects of caffeine abuse will become worse over time. not good.. no wonder people are so stressed and unable to sleep in todays society

if you are going to abuse caffeine, you better be taking GABA will it to offset it

Easy: they make companies $.

Zmyj's steps to fast cash:
1. Put caffeine, sugar, and bs vitamins in a tub.
2. Get a guy that's all juiced out and take pics.
3. Tell people he's not on the juice, that its your caffeine blend "breakthrough proprietary ingredients"
4. Put that shit on Facebook.
5. Count your cash

It depends on how you look at it. Most the time if you do the math a pre workout drink costs less then going and getting a coffee at the drive through. I like my pre workout drink

I like to drink dbol and TNE pre training with a little caffeine thrown in for good measure
