Ok. In porn everyone gets tested for std's (and age check).

IN mainstreem porn you cant have under 18 people or show rape or blood. Lots of humor is also discouraged (cuz you cant get a boner while rotfl your ass off).

Things like that dont happen in non XXX movies. So in a sense, porno movies are more regulated than normal movies.

Well, in addition to casavant's observations, it sounds like you ARE talking about movies. Admittedly, mainstream porn and porn movies.

So what's porn? When one asks "is porn bad" are we limiting the discussion to what's currently accepted on the nuddie channel?

Look on the net, it won't take long. You CAN find underage porn, blood, shit, rape (staged and yes, real), violence, bestiality, etc.,etc.

I love the nude female form. It's beautiful. However, a great deal of pornography is sick. A possible problem with that which isn't sick is that its forced upon us in great quantities.

I'm not saying that the government should "ban" the material I don't like, but their is a lot of pornography I wish didn't exist.

Why is pornography viewed so badly among people?

Complex subject but I would offer that it is partly because there is so much truly bad pornography. The industry basically deserves a bad reputation.

If I had to trust either a pornographer or a person who wasn't into it, there is no question. I would not trust the pornographer.

BTW....there are many cultures that are less accepting of porno than America.

I definetly think excessive porn is bad. When you stare at a group of girls in a bar and the only thing that will excite you is them on all fours and you lickin their asses, it can be bad.

I don't see the problem. As long as it's legal pron will be produced in a safe and professional manner. I don't care if some of it is sick, I just don't watch/rent/buy anything that is not to my taste, problem solved.

I know plenty of normal guys who view porn and it does not lead them to dehumanise women, treat them as meat in their daily lives etc.

If you make it illegal than all kinds of unpleasant practices will ensue. Just be careful about buying stuff made in SE Asia, not all of that is consensual.

The Dutch are pretty open about this, the guy in the local video store said it was the most profitable section, even more so than action flicks.

A lot of it is tasteless though - better production values for porn! People of the world unite!

We Americans carry an attitude about us that over extends our ego. It comes from the high competitveness this country is built on.
