while this is true to a certain extent, its kinda like saying if we didt glamourise crime, it wouldnt happpen.

IN mainstreem porn you cant have under 18 people or show rape or blood. Lots of humor is also discouraged (cuz you cant get a boner while rotfl your ass off).

Well, let me play the devil's advocate here-

As far as STD checks, they certainly help but they're far from foolproof. Get tested on the 15th, fuck someone from the club on the sixteenth and contract something, show up on the 25th for your little porn shoot and...VOILA!!!....infection city.

Also, although porn is somewhat regulated in places like the US, there are still people who break the rules and there is still a very nasty darkside.

Traci Lords was a top porn queen in the '80's, and she was sixteen.

As far as comedy- some porns actually go for that intentionally. And we all know that they're usually good for a laugh even when they aren't trying to be funny.

Well, in addition to casavant's observations, it sounds like you ARE talking about movies. Admittedly, mainstream porn and porn movies.

So what's porn? When one asks "is porn bad" are we limiting the discussion to what's currently accepted on the nuddie channel?

Look on the net, it won't take long. You CAN find underage porn, blood, shit, rape (staged and yes, real), violence, bestiality, etc.,etc.

I love the nude female form. It's beautiful. However, a great deal of pornography is sick. A possible problem with that which isn't sick is that its forced upon us in great quantities.

I'm not saying that the government should "ban" the material I don't like, but their is a lot of pornography I wish didn't exist.

Complex subject but I would offer that it is partly because there is so much truly bad pornography. The industry basically deserves a bad reputation.

If I had to trust either a pornographer or a person who wasn't into it, there is no question. I would not trust the pornographer.

BTW....there are many cultures that are less accepting of porno than America.

I got some info on this, but its not really supported by my own opinion. Goes like this: Porn reduces humans to objects to be used. Makes people less caring and more pathological.

If you see something done enough times without any connection toward what is going on you are more apt to repeat the process once the time comes without any feeling. Example: If i can watch and enjoy seeing someone killed, then when it happens in real life I can do the same and be more conditioned to remove myself personally to what i'm doing. To desensatize in other words.

It makes a mockery out of what sex is really supposed to be. Intimacy between two people. Is this important? Maybe, if you settle down with one person and want the moment to be special you may have trouble feeling it as such.
