Levrone belongs at the top of this list.

Dude wouldn't do shit in the off season, drop 30 lbs, drink, etc and then when it came time to prepare for the contest he could get ultra jacked n shredded in record time and win or take 2nd place nearly every time.

Nobody else had a genetic gift like this that Levrone has.

Yep, worked at his gym in '97-'98 and hung out with him in the off season, couldn't be more right. Some of our best times were hittin up Pitt Beef and drinking a giant jug of Lambrusco outside the joint in Severna Park.

Obviously Arnold
If arnold had all that shit they're taking today
( R:Coleman J Cutler Phil Heath and so on)
he would have been their DADDY:
That's for sure.

Arnold was a legend. However, Lou ferrigno was also very good. Arnold messed him up after pumping iron, so Lou retired for 19 years ..... If Lou carried on training he would have beaten all of arnold records. And you guys would now you be saying Lou ferrigno was the greatest.

Ferrigno doesn't get the credit he deserves. Arnold and lou were massive for their era's, if they had the drugs we have now and the supplements, training science, they would be a big as the top bodybuilders today.

I must admit, some of the elite guys of today are too muscle bound for me. I'm amazed how big people can get and that is which I like, but i would never want to be that size.

Yates and Ronnie are true champions.

Flex. And seeing pics of Phil Heath before he was on gear tells me he had an amazing advantage as well.

Nelson, could you provide a link of those pics of Phil before he took gear?
ya I would like to see these too. Especially if there actually before juice.

I think for mass and strength, Ronnie without a doubt. He probably could of been the greatest powerlifter ever if he dedicated myself.

For structure, Flex Wheeler, Arnold.

I would also say Dorian Yates since he spoke about his olympia winning cycles and it was much less than alot of guys run on here. He obviously responded extremely well to gear, massmonster.

Not to say Lou sucked. Clearly he didnt. He was a great bodybuilder. But ALL TIME BEST GENETICS??? I probably wouldnt even have him in the top 10 if I took the time to make a list.

And what exactly are we talkin best genetics here? Size, shape, symmetry, condition?

I think Levrone is up there. He responded incredibly well to gear and training. One of the most developed people to ever walk this planet....lol

Yah the choices on this list aren't the best to choose from. Some major people are not there, and Frank Zane? Come on now. How bout Vic Richards. No one has ever been as big as him with such a small waist unlike the pregnant belly trend started by Yates.

Anyone who's read Arnold's autobiography will know he didn't have the best genetics, symmetry or proportion. He said so himself. He knew how to work the lighting, how to psych out the other competitors, and was willing to do whatever it took.

There were many bodybuilders from the 70s and 80s that had great genetics. Its hard to pick the best, even though I side with Arnold. Lou Ferrigno, Frank Zane, Sergio, and Franco Columbu all had incredible physiques from great genetics

Arnold, Lee Haney, Ronnie OBVIOUSLY, Phil Heath, Flex Wheeler, Levrone, Id probably throw Lee Priest in there, probably Shawn Ray, Franco, probably have to recognize Jay as well. Jay hasnt placed worse then 2nd in ANY contest in the last decade. Pretty crazy.

Ive probably missed a couple people. But this is my list off the top of my head. Im sure I would replace 1 or 2 of these guys if I thought of someone who im forgetting for some reason

Shaen Ray if you ask me, guy is also a stand up character, had the chance to meet/talk to him a few months back. He still had pasdion on this sport even though he is retired

flex had amaxing genetics but he was complaicent lazy and arrogant..shawn ray easily matches flex for symmetry, tie-ins, full muscle bellies and he had faaar beeter conditioning..flex had more mass (more drugs) and a beter back than shawn.

Who is that guy?

Also how such "horrible genetics" explanation explains Schwartzneggers fantastic gains in 4 years?? Arnie got like 50+ pounds in 4 years! Those are som pretty good gains for "someone with the worst genetics." ! Alsol do you realize that arnold started to train at1 14 (or so)? I don't think that ANY1 at 14 would look very good (too youing to tell, and not enlough time to see genes express)

I think he said his friend told him that arnold APPEARED to have bad genetics when he walked into the gym. He was probably quite young though at the time. by the time he was 15 he definitely looked gifted. Personally when I was young I was quite skinny, but in my teen years when I was thankfully always doing something outside playing sports I grew to be quite mesomorphic, and I know quite a few guys who were the same way.

Yep, like some of you guys said .... Sergio Oliva is DA MAN !!!!
Just imagine what he would look like with todays drugs :p :p :p

Probably not nearly as good, in my opinion, seeing as how his size was pretty much perfect as it was. to me at least. He alwasy struck me as having very exceptional aesthetics. With nowadays' drugs, he would probably be going more for raw mass like most nowadays, and ended up looking like some awkward looking caricatured freak like coleman.

IMO Kevin LEVRONE. Not being racially prejudiced or anything but his parents are a mix of Italian and Black. You couldn't ask for much more as far as genetics go.

I think "genetics" in this thread refers to things like body & muscle structure, not facial features.

BUT if I had a choice of having anyones physic in the WORLD it would be without a doubt BILL KAZMIER. He is so Thick and Massive it is shocking to me that he has never be asked to guess pose at a bodybuilding show.

You know, I always thought most strongmen and non-chubby powerlifters looked better than bodybuilders. They look more powerful and thick-wasted. Alot of bodybuilders take that v-taper crap to such an extreme that it just looks caricaturish and ridiculous in my opinion. If you're going to have wide shoulders, you need at least some decent waist thickness too.

I dunno if anyone posted this yet, I gotta go with Frank Zane. He wasn't the biggest, or strongest, but damn he had symmetry. Then I just cause I like him Lou Ferrigno.

For me personally it was Andreas Munzer. To stay that shredded throughout his off and on season would kill most people. Also his shredded quads were amazing.

What about tom platzs. Mr. Legs himself. All this guys have super genetics, that's why they do what they do.

No one can dispute ronnie for being a monster and ripped, especially in a few years back, but I wish times would go back to the wheeler's as mentioned serge nubret (RIP), and even dexter jackson. These are in my opinion the best forms of bodies. It has gotten to crazy with the bloated overuse of HGH. Arnold still the best to me.

I would say Frank Zane one of the best proportionate and also one of the best symmetry at a frame that only weighs 175ibs at the point of MR Olympia.

Why post up such a poll? They were all on steroids and it all depended on what steroid, the training' you eat right, who slept right, and slept with the most girls. Fun really fun.

So many different types of builds. Got to say in their prime, Dennis Newman and Ken "Flex" Wheeler had my attention, just to name a few.

MC,
I went to school with Ken Cole from the 7th grade 'til the 10th and he was a larger than life figure even as a kid!
I don't remember a lot but he was built like a superhero as an 8th grader.
In the 10th grade we moved across town but I would hear of his escapades from my new high school. Vegas was a small town back then even though we had 12 high schools in Vegas. By high school he huge and very tall. He fought a lot of people and only one antagonist from junior high bested him regularly. They were on a collision course to an ultimate war from the 8th grade on. This kid's name was Jay and he was a martial arts black belt who could do feats of fascinating physical things and everyone had a favorite. Jay or Ken!!!
I went to the same gym, Eifermann's or Chet Yorton's as Ken as we got older until he eventually stopped making news.
He will always be a legend to me!
