What Belt to Get?

My take on this is that the Double Prong is the best bet overall. Each design however, has its pros and cons.

Between the single prong and the double prong. The single is the easiest to use, obviously. However with it comes a greater chance that it might come undone in some freak occurance. The double is more secure obviously, but a little difficult to get off after a lift.

The lever is the best IF you can get it set right. The problem that most have is that their waist circumference will vary greatly from day to day..due to water weight. This is especially true of heavier lifters. So for that fact it is more difficult to get it adjusted consistantly.

Project, would you go with a Single prong over your Double if you were to get a new belt?

I dunno, I was talking to Hannibal about this tonight, and he said really, the advantage to the double prong is that it's more secure. He's seen single prong belts come off in strongman comps, but that's a little different than using it in the gym.

Personally, I'd stick with the double, because it's what I know, and I really like my belt.

That said...I'd see if someone posts that's used both Inzers, and see what they say. I'm just a newbie at all this. :)

I would get the thicker belt, myself. Double prong is probably fine, and may be the best bet. Easier to adjust. I use a lever belt, but it is a pain to adjust when my mono ab gets out of hand.

I like it cause it is real easy to get into, and very easy for me to adjust by myself. I typically will not cinch it down till right before I lay down on the bench, or get under the squat bar. I like to have all the air possible for as long as I can get it.

To me this is worth the trade off of not being able to adjust with ease.

i have used all 3 types...

level is really cool but i've had it blow apart on a deadlift. maybe it was a freak occurence but it is also a pain if you deadlift and squat require different tightness. also, if you tend to chuck your belt across the room when you miss a lift (i do this), the lever breaks easily.

double prong.... this is a fucking pain in the ass if you like your belt tight. you will spend a lot of time trying to get BOTH prongs in, wheezing and turning beet-red the whole time. then again, i last used this when i was a 308+. maybe it wouldnt be so bad anymore.

so i cast my vote for a single prong.

and get the maximum allowed thickness (13)

Well as always all you guy came through with a wealth of much appreciated information... And it basically sounds like it comes down to a matter of trial and error to see what suits each individual lifters needs... So 13mm it is.. For me the lever would be really inconvenient since I go tighter as the bar weight gets heavier.. Plus I remembered Irish mention the exploding belt somewhere a while back.. As far as single or Double, well it appears as though I would be fine with either.. The decade old belt I had been using is a Double Prong with only mild difficulties getting it real tight.. But whichever i do order I can always return it and exchange it easily enough....

Forgot to mention this, but Hannibal showed me a trick for getting the double prong tight enough.

Basically, you put the belt on, get the end through the buckle, then kind of wrap the end around the post of the power rack. Then you can lean back, push the buckle in, and cinch it down tight.

I've had 5 hours of sleep, so if that doesn't make sense, forgive me.
