Well, I mixed up a cup of pancake mix with milk and 1/4 cup of syrup. The callorie count was 775 cals. I know this is mostly carbs and not protien which isn't all that good. IT did have 21 of protien though which is just as much if not more than 5-6 eggs that I normally eat. If I take a protien shake with this, will this be a pretty good breakfast? My biggest diet problem is that I dont get enough cals in before nightfall because I have been waking up late around 1030. thanks!!!!

In general, pancake mixes will be heavily processed foods with very high levels of sodium -- nearly your entire daily intake in this one meal. The syrup will have a medium GI rating in small amounts. One quarter of a cup though will likely give you a good buzz for the first part of the morning. Your eating habits would likely improve if you tried to maintain a constant blood sugar level throughout the day. This usually means snacking on low GI foods.

What is your current diet like?

Pancake mixes suck...just make your own pancake with
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 scoop whey
2 egg whites

this makes a pretty big pancake. Just put some sugar free maple syrup on the bad boy and you got a nice pro/carb ratio for breakfast

my diet...
Well, I have been monitering it extremely closely the last few days. It started out lower in calories than I wanted, but it was all I could eat. As I am eating more though, the calories are on the rise. I'm trying to level it out at 2700 at the moment and see how my body reacts to that. I think I am shooting for about 45% carbs, 30% pro, and 25% fats. I'm basically just trying to get the calories up right now and not so much worried about the ratios.

Or:

4+ egg whites + 1 egg yolk
1/2-1/3 cup dry oats
Tblsp Flax Meal
Tsp Baking Powder
Cinnamon + Nutmeg

Blend together & cook like pancakes. Top with SF syrup....

Well, I went with this one this morning. I must say it was different. I do know not to put ON's mint choc in then anymore. It wasn't too bad, but worse that I wanted. It just wasn't enough calories for me. I'm giving jenscats' a go tomorrow. I was just concerned about the flax oil being heated. I know it doesn't like to be heated without breaking down. Can anyone verify this?

Note: The baking powder is optional -- I like my pancakes to "puff" up a bit, which is why I add it.

Adjust your eggs to oats ratio to get the taste you want.....

You can also add 1/2 - 1 scoop of protein powder if you want -- I've used 1/2 scoop AnyWhey (flavorless) with good results.
