what is the deal with weight training within 30 minutes after waking up?
is it ok on empty stomach?
what are the pros and cons?

thanks people

Bad idea. Lifting after an 8-10 hour fast will do more harm than good. You need to lift within an hour and a half or so of eating a good meal. Otherwise, your body will have nothing to build muscle with.

i'm with you on that but i've read somewhere that a workout first thing in the morning causes a spike in testesterone levels which, naturally, is very beneficial to muscle building.

lets BUMP this one.

I trained 6am for over a year. I set my alarm for 4, got up and ate a bowl of oatmeal (made with eggwhites), and went back to bed. Then I'd get up at 6 ready to roll...trained at 6:30. After a while, I don't think I even really woke up at 4. Just did a sleep walk to the kitchen, shoved the food in the pie hole, and walked back to bed. :D

that's good info spatts...
but what do you think about the original question?

Well, it's really very simple. How well does your car drive when you run it without gas?

It will break down, maybe not even run at all. Right?

You fuel your workouts with muscle glycogen. 8 hours of fasting=very little glycogen

that's what i thought too and then i read that bullshit about elevated test levels and weight training first think inthe morning.

thanks dudes

The testosterone thing is a nonissue.

You can train in the morning if it's convenient to you. Just make sure that beforehand you have a liquid meal of one serving of whey protein plus some simple carbs and a piece of fruit.

I would say give it a try and if you notice that you're tired and/or your numbers are lower then switch it to later in the day or after a full meal.
