why get a belt in the first place? lift raw and lift with correct form and you will never need a stupid belt. everyone is always lifting with their ego's i guess.
Belts are allowed in raw powerlifting. Lol
I never use a belt and I find it helps more because its true power and you have to work harder for it which is better lol but I do admit the last time I used one I felt it helped but still I agree with what he said, but if you have an injury that's aching you then take it slow and easy.

Well as long as the belt isnt worn all the time its fine.. I mean if I work my way up to squatting/pulling 405 without a belt then I use one my core strength would still be 100 times better than the average personswho said they weren't?
however it doesn't mean they should be used. belts, straps, gloves, wraps, all that shit I am 100% against.. you use them and you won't develop your core, your wrists, and your forearms correctly. the guys who walk around the gym with a belt and wear gloves day in and day out i guarantee have horrendous lower back core strength and their grip is horrendous. i would like to see them lift without their belt and their gloves and see how they do. they would likely struggle bigtime
i'm not one of those guys at the gym who go around telling people this though.. if someone wants to bring the entire Dick's sporting goods section to the gym with them thats their business. however i have talked to countless guys who have come up to me while i was doing squats and deadlifts and have asked me "hey you don't wear a belt?" or "you want to borrow my belt?" .. and i have told them why I don't wear one... so i hope i have explained it to everyone in this thread why a belt should not be used.. if you want to continue wearing one and crippling your lower back core strength then thats your own business, just remember long term its gonna hurt you more than help.
