weight gain~

i'm skinny and i want to gain more weight... i'm cut but i want to be bigger like the other guys... just eating doesn't cut it does it? i try.. =/ maybe i'm not eating enough?

my friend told me about weight gainers..like shakes or pills or something... should i try that?
 
Eating a ton, atleast your body weight in grams of protein. If you weigh 140 then eat ATLEAST 140 grams of protein. Lots of carbs, calories and even fats. Dont worry about eating clean. Just EAT, and meet that protein requirement everyday. Get used to it, cuz eating is essential to make steady gains. This is assuming you are already training hard and giving it your all in the gym. Eating is still the hardest part for me. I can lift for hours nonstop at full intensity. You will make gains in the beginning regardless since the body will respond with growth in new trainers, but that only lasts so long.

I was very skinny... then after lifting a lot and eating a lot i started to gain. Eating about 6-8 times a day... eat every 2-3 hours. and if you dont have time for a meal, you can have a protein shake. Everything takes time, this doesn't happen over night... but if u stick with it, after time you will like what will become
 
When I wanted to gain, I trained hard and thought I was eating a lot. I posted my meals on here and EVERYONE said eat more. Then I saw what the big guys are eating. No wonder I wasn't gaining!

I upped my meals and calories almost double and finally started gaining. There is this really old thread by B Fold about what he eats... does any old-timer have that link?
 
As long as you eat 500 calories above what your body uses daily, you'll be fine. Multiply bodyweight by 12. There's your BMR. Then, determine your activity level and adjust accordingly.

184x500 = 2208
Activity Level: Light (try to sit around a lot so I gain faster) so 1.1-1.2ish
So 1.15 x 2208 = 2539.2

If I eat 3039.2 a day, I'll gain a pound a week. Chances are, it'll all be muscle as well. Can't gain much fat this way. I'm talking about 3039 clean calories, of course.
 
if u want cheap food for bulking, focus on pork and whole chickens for your meat. then get canned vegetables in bulk, like buy a case of spinach if you like spinach. drink lots of milk, regardless of what others say, i think milk is a great source of nutrients. buy a huge bag of potatoes from somewhere like Costco or Sams Club. and also buy lots of breat and sliced meat.
 
Lee was the first person on Elite to really get me eating more when I first joined and knew nothing. I've gained about 35 pounds since then, mostly muscle (a little love handle action though). Thanks Lee! Really glad you're back.
 
I went from about 170 to about 205. However, I'm 6'3", so I just went from crazy skinny to more normal looking - still not looking big. If I could be a solid 225 or so in another year at around 11% body fat I'd be really happy. I'm probably at around 14-15% BF right now (but it's all in my waist :( ).
