I don't know much about calves, but is it all right for me to be lifting heavy to get my calves bigger? I just started lifting 130. Whatever I'm doing, its working! Let me know what ya'll think!
I usually try to do a good amount of weight with my calves and keep my reps in between 12-15. I think that if you lower the weight too much and do too many reps...that your calves will not grow.
I know that I want my to be BIG...so I try the extra weight and lower reps. My calves are getting bigger (slowly but surely) and they are much harder.
I was questioning myself because I see the more defined ladies at the gym lifting hardly anything...............and then there's me. But I guess I should stick with what I'm doing since I'm seeing results.
6-8 reps to failure for all exercises where the knee is straight(donkey calf raises, standing calf raises, toe presses), and 10-15 reps for all exercises where the knee is flexed(seated calf raises primarily)...

I like to change up my calve workout... always FULL STRETCH at top and bottom and I stay in the 10 - 20 rep range. Sometimes, drop sets and supersets just to get a lovely burn... DAMN, nothing burns like calves - except quads. CARAMBA!
If this doesn't work, I hear that dancing around for 7 hours in 7" heels does calves wonders... but that is only what I HEAR! LOL
You forgot about hamstrings. Makes me want to cry just thinking about training them
And please go heavy ladies. Do you really think with the amount of time people are on their feet everyday, that 30 reps on the calf raise machine is going to make your calves grow? Think about it. The only exception is the soleus muscle(used in seated calf raises). It's composed of primarily slow twitch muscle fibers which respond better to higher reps(10+)...
