Water Retention adn Food

1g of carbs 'retains' roughly 4g's of water required for its assimilation
Are you sure that you aren't talking about muscle glycogen instead of carbs? If you'r refering to glycogen, I'll go with that to the extent that yes, it will store water, but it is inside your muscle so it doesn't bloat you. Just makes your muscles full and hard. That's the premise of carb-glycogen depletion and loading. If you're saying that eating carbs makes you retain water the same way that sodium, does, I would disagree.

once glycogen is stored very little water is needed in muscle, it is stored/retired into subq layers. one of the reasons bodybuilders use diuretics after carb loading, not before :o

I don't agree with that either. 1 gram of muscle glycogen stores 2.7 grams of water between the muscle cells. IF water is stored subcutaneously there is another reason. Could you tell me some more things that bodybuilders do, please?

Estrogen causes water retention
