water causing headaches?

I was wondering if anyone had any information on too much water causing headaches. I know too little does but it seems when I try to drink 8 glasses of water a day I get headaches. I usually never drink water but recently noticed that I never do so I started to try and drink 8 glasses a day but every time I do I get headaches. I was wondering if anyone had info on this. Or maybe I'm just odd.

I'd venture to guess it's unrelated.

Dehydration, food allergies, caffiene withdrawl, and radical changes in diet can cause headaches.

There have been reports out there that people can drink too much water causing water intoxication (headache being a symptom) but by being athletic your need to replenish water and maintain balance will be higher than the normal couch potato.

My throat hurts when I drink a lot of water but not headaches.

Water intoxication (hyponatremia) is most common in extreme, and i mean EXTREME endurance athletes. If you are into that kind of training/competing, do the before after weight test. If you weigh MORE after the training/competion than before, you are drinking way too much water. The fear is accute electrolyte imbalance which can cause heart failure, stroke, coma, death.. its bad.

If you think this is occuring from 8 glasses a day: its not. I drink 6-8 liters a day on training days and 4-6 everyday, and my electrolyte balance is good, I supplement with Hammer Nutritions Endurolytes as well, so if you are concerned that maybe a condition might be causing some mineral problems: see a doc.
