Videogames: what do you prefer- pc or console?

I have played both and prefer console.

This is mainly because when I want to entertain myself I like to be able to plug in and play; vs loading a game, having it run bad, finding out I need more memory and/or a better graphics card, having to shuffle programs/files around on my pc to get it to run at it's optimal level for smooth gaming (which is still usually less than any console hardware), spending much more in the process, constantly having to upgrade, etc.

The games on pc are also of a fairly limited variety that work well with the control setup. I've played some great fps games on pc, as well as strategy games but other than that I've found that most games feel much more polished on a console. I also like playing through a big screen high def. tv with surround sound using a controller that was designed to compliment the gameplay. Granted, you can have all that too with a pc setup, although it seems much more inconvenient. My pc is great for everything else but as for gaming, even if it was powerful enough to run any title available, I still find it to be 2nd best, at best.

So my question for people who prefer pc over console games.....what is it about them that you prefer?

i've always wanted to get into sims via pc...i haven't played too many pc games though, no joystick and i own a xbox

I have a couple months old top of the line Dell XPS computer loaded with a GeForce 7500 graphics card so I am capable of playing any game out. HOWEVER I don't play games on PC, they are all on console.

The controller is just better and laying on the couch can't be beat.

I've always been a PC gamer; in the past, the depth and complexity has far outweighed the console games. That is, up until now. I still think technology is in favor of PCs, but by a very slim margin.

I tend to migrate towards RPGs, RTS, and FPS. FPS and console is a great mix, and can be done easily. RPG and RTS, ahh, not so much. This is an area where PCs will probably always dominate.

I've always loved PC's over consoles. Maybe because I used to play alot of MMPORG's.

PC is king for FPS games, you can't twitch with a controller the same you can with a mouse....I prefer the mouse and keyboard setup, It's a natural position for me by now.

Pee See.

Got my comp running through my lcd tv. Got a wireless keyboard and mouse and gamepad.

I love online shooters and strategy games. I barely play any single player game at all any more.

doesn't the wireless mouse cause lag between your movements and when it registers?

Final Fantasy and similar rpg series' are great on console.

Console is easier for me. I have no video game skills. But the only video game I ever play is a PC version of Maniac Mansion. I sold my 8 bit NES years ago and finally found a free PC download for the game, so that is about it for me.

PS3 has 8 cpu's. Yup, 8 individual processors built into one, designed by IBM, Toshiba, and Sony. High end PCs have two, so....there you go. I think the reason people like pc for games so much is because they do everything else on it, so a certain fondness develops, a bond if you will. :) I felt that way a little bit years ago when I loaded up the Doom games and Hexen and Heretic. Those were awesome games, but overall imo a console has the most playability with the gaming experience honed to perfection, with none of the bs. Playing Zelda, Mario, Castlevania, Tony Hawk, Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, etc on a pc just wouldn't be the same. That's the reason consoles are developed, because they wouldn't play the same or as good on a pc.

IMO consoles are better because not every game for a pc that you like is compatable..or it has lags and it takes long to load...plus sitting in a comp chair playing games sucks..with a console you know that the games will work on them and there is no lags..you can also get a wireless remote and lounge on the couch to play

What FPS do you play?

Mostly Urban Terror a q3 mod. I know it's old, but I keep going back to it no matter how many new games I pick up.

I also play counter strike source, call of duty, enemy territory, UT2004 and a few others.

learning curves for pc games is too high. don't have the time. plus games+computer+office never mixed for me.

i like sofa, big tv, controller, beer, etc. in the living room. i play games when i relax. i ca't relax in an office chair.
