Just mostly pooled by the crease like in the photo. I didn't watch the link posted here but when it happened all the clips I saw showed it spraying while he held his hand there.

it happened in 1989. Malarchuk was released from the hospital the next day and played 4 days later.

Believe it or not Malarchuk managed to get even closer to dying several years later when he mixed percodan with alcohol after a Super Bowl party. He was later diagnosed with OCD.
