it can make what the man does seem a little more useless, esp. if its just for physical pleasure and no emotional attachment. it doesn't desensitize the area, but it does show an alternative, and if that alternative is a lot better than what you get from your man, it may make his actions less desirable. now if you use the vibrator in conjunction with a man, then you've got something there...

Men are usually intimidated by the thought of vibrators. Maybe it's because we are satistified in a matter of minutes as opposed to not being totally satisfied at all. Although, there is no substitution for the emotional, mental stimulation you get with a men. Joining the two would be the ultimate. Obviously women's bodies are very complicated and I think some men should want to explore all areas on how to satisfy your woman.
