Very Very Important!!!!!!

As far as the gear being dirty yes that can be a contributing factor.......but even if you have clean gear and then inject under unsanitary conditions you are still at risk.

As far as antibiotics go it depends on the strand of infection you are dealing with. If it is a simple celuulitous infection that has not spread and has not started to abcess then oral antibiotics should do the trick.

If the infection has started spreading but not formed an abcess it will take a weeked stay at the hospital on IV antibiotics to cure the infection fast enough to prevent an abcess.

IF an abcess has formed then you are fucked because the only way out is with a very sharp knife........

That being said dependent on the strand there are very nasty cases of cellulitous out there......mrsa being the worst (eats away at tissue like HFacid)

If you find yourself at the hospital under no circumstances tell them that you are cycling.....say it was a bug bite or open wound that got infected......they will treat it the same way either way you look at it. Doctors are way to dam nosey for their own good.

It is like taking a car in to get the headlight fixed.....either way you will replace the headlight so what is the big deal if a hooker happened to get in the way of it? (feel free to laugh now)

There are many types of antibiotics and the fish types, although used in humans, might not be the right ones or powerful enough for the infection. For instance, eurythro is fish medicine and human medicine.

You can get cephalexen for fish. Not sure if I'd really want to take it but I have had mixed luck with online pharmacies with certain other drugs (underdosed/fake generics).

One thing for sure, I think this should be another staple in everyones toolkit who is committed to this lifestyle.

Thanks for bringing it up.
