V-8 as good as they claim?

they claim to be comparable to 2 veggie servings per glass....anyone know if this is true and/or the goods/bads of v-8?

ok now...lets pretend like we don't give a fuck about 140mg of sodium and 8g of sugar per glass...i'd be happy with those evils if it is a good veggie supplement...does anyone know if the claim of "2 veggie servings per glass" holds true? not looking for one liners.......

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the v8-fusion one... that shit has 28g per 8 oz...

v8 is good and I think its true, for if it wasn't... you could sue for false advertisment

But lets ask this question.. what is considered a serving of veggies?

V8 is quite possibly THE most disgusting and vile drink that has ever been ingested by me. I took one sip and nearly threw up.

I'm not sure if it's ever been tested to be honest.I could look it up but I'm kinda lazy that way. ;-)

I'm not into drinking my veggies anyways. I'd rather take my chances on cooking them FRESH out of my garden-I know what I'm eatin and not having to guess at it.

You're nor drinking it right. Add in some celery salt, pepper, hot sauce, whistisoire (However the hell it is spelled) and some vodka. Pour over ice and enjoy!

lol@Bloody Mary.

Also, it's Worcestershire sauce. :Chef:

I'm still trying to get past the veggies drank. What about all the vitamins lost during the process? Oh well. Still sounds like a cup of crap to me.

Hey, you should try getting a good blender and making your own from scratch. Yes, it's a bit more work but you can control what you make and how much of what you want in your shake. I have a Vitamixer that works really well. But not that you have to have this type of blender. Even though the Vitamixer is considered a juicer it's basically a glorified blender. It incorporates all the pulp of anything you put in it. And THAT'S what you want in your fruit or veggie drinks. The fiber/pulp is what has the bulk of the nutrition AND it helps to lower the glycemic index of what you're eating. I have about 3 fruit/veggie shakes a day. Each of them has about 1 pound of fruit/veggies with some dried oatmeal and protein powder. It's the best meal replacement I can have.
Just wanted to say that ever since I've been doing these drinks I no longer crave sugar or cakes or any sweets. I even bought a small cheap blender to travel because I don't feel the same when I don't have my fruit/veggie drinks. The Vitamixer is a big ol boat of a machine and stays on my counter top.
Don't do V-8, those are all sugar, barely any fiber, and they've been sitting around indefinitely in an airtight container. Fruits and veggies should be eaten as fresh as possible in their natural form. The longer they are sitting around plucked off the vine or picked from a tree the less nutritional value they have.
Most people don't know this but that two week old carton of orange juice you have in your refrigerator is basically useless and all the Vitamin C is gone. It's basically sugar and nothing more. If you can't use within a few days, don't bother unless you want to spike your insulin with nothing more than a sugar rush.
I know it's easy to carry around a can of V-8. But if you need something on the go, have 2 apples. That's two servings of fresh fruit there and it's not very high in sugar and they're very good for ya.

Sure thing. I vary it. It'll sound gross but you have to try it. You more than likely won't mind it like I don't.

Usually 3 four ounce servings of fruit with 1 serving of spinach. So this gives me 4 servings in one. This is 16 ounces or 1 lb of fresh food.
I might use 1 banana, 1 or 2 apples, frozen blueberries, or frozen strawberries.
I use the spinach from the can. I only do this because of that spinach scare that we had back in the winter. I don't want to get sick or die simply from trying my best to eat well.
I then use 8 ounces of either soy or rice milk and 8 ounces of egg beaters with 1 scoop of protein powder. If you have vanilla flavored it's going to taste really good. But usually I have flavorless egg powder protein.
You can use whatever fruit you like, cantaloupe is great but Costco hasn't been carrying it lately.
I have a friend that mixes frozen green peas, pears, broccoli and spinach in his shakes and I was impressed that you can't taste the spinach. I find spinach to be very beneficial and has more potassium per serving than bananas and a lot less sugar.
Oh, I also put 1.5 cups of dry uncooked oatmeal in my shakes to bring up the carbs. So it's loaded with protein, and good quality carbs. It's easy and takes about 6 minutes by the time I start cutting, toss in the blender, drink, and clean the blender carafe.

I like v-8's.

I don't drink them anymore because of the sodium. I know I used to take some healthy dumps when I drank them daily.

I used some stuff from GNC that was like V-8 in a powder, but took it back immediately because it tasted like grass clippings. So Im not much help there.

Wow, I just looked at my bottle of V8 low-sodium, and it's still got freakin' 135mg of sodium per 250ml! That's more than a 2L bottle of diet pepsi! Don't know if I'll be buying more now.

Sodium is not such a big deal so long as your health is good and you're not preparing for a contest. If you have no problems and you're not trying to get super thin skin then just enjoy some sodium. Your body needs some. Especially if you sweat a lot.

Its complete bullshit. ITs been pasturised which means boiled. completely pointless like fruit juice from concentrate
