Yeah no way Florian beats Penn....no way. Griffin/Anderson is harder for me to call. I like Anderson somewhat, but I really like Griffin so I'm hoping the fact that Forrest walks around at 240 means he's too strong for a bulked up MW. We'll see. It is tough to bet against Anderson.....but if he has no intention of fighting Lyoto, who's going to hold the belt for a very long time, than he should get the fuck back to MW and start pushing for a fight with GSP.

Florian will definitely win ... it's in the bag :)

I'm either going to be a very rich or very poor MoFo :)

Rhetorical Answer...

You know more than I do.
However, Ken Flo got whipped by Sherk.

Methinks, your man crush on the commentator, and lack of desiderata for Asian Dark Meat... has tarnished your discernment.

J/K

Ken Flo is bad, but just fighting the best in the world at 155.

jesus, I didn't see the fights...but from what I just read it seems Silva "toyed" with Forrest. Like he dropped him two or three times and then extended his hand like "here, let me help you up buddy". Holy fuck, than he dropped him for a final time. I mean I'm not suprised that Silva won, I knew there was a good chance he would......but fuck, he just toyed with a really really really good fighter. I mean I don't think Lyoto would dominate Forrest like that. Either Forrest had a really really bad night or Anderson Silva is the best fighter in the world. I mean fuck, go up to 220-230 and challenge brock while you're at it.....I mean why not?

Sherdog nuthuggers are calling for GSP vs Anderson, butt if he's dropping the 205lb guys with jabs I don't think GSP could compete.

Silva would drop GSP like a sack of moldy tangerines. GSP hasn't fought a good striker with footwork. The only decent sriker GSP has faced is Alves and Alves' footwork is terrible. GSP has nowhere near the power to even make Silva flinch. The tactic of coming in with pitter patter strikes then going for the takedown is not wise against a guy like Silva. If he misses the takedown, Silva will make him pay. Silva also has a cast iron jaw. On the rare occasions when he has been hit, he shrugs it off.

Silva is better served by moving up in weight. Silva also has yet to face a decent striker. Somebody who can actually put pressure on him and cut off the octagon will give him problems. Henderson had a good go on Silva. I actually gave Henderson the first round in their fight and Henderson is only fair at cutting off the Octagon.

I tend to think the announcers overdramatize the weakness of the strike that finished Griffin. Silva hit him right on the tip of the chin as he Griffin was stepping in with his feet crossed. It was a hard and accurate hit.

I also noticed that the announcers try to minimize the damage certain competitors inflict and overdramatize the damage other competitors inflict. This was very evident in the Almeida v. Grove fight. Grove did next to nothing asside from a very close arm bar, yet the announcers kept making it sound as if it was a close fight. Grove lands one head snapper of an upercut and suddenly they think he's got Almeida in trouble. Almeida almost dropped Grove with overhand rights several times and according to the announcers all Almeida got in during the round is a bunch of takedowns and GnP which did no damage.

One rule change I would like to see happen is penalties for strikers that stall. Strikers who back out of guards are running in my opinion and should be penalized. They would penalize a grappler that just scooted around the ring on his butt waiting for an opponent to come into his guard. Why is it different for strikers who refuse to play the ground game with grapplers? There is a very anti-grappling bias in most MMA leagues.

Machida never fought Forrest Bro,
But its speculated he is going to have to deal with Silva.

They promised each other to not fight though...

I swear it was like I was watching the Ps3 game.

A right Jab, with his hands down?

Wow.

Wonder who he will fight next. Who ever it is, I'm going to be watching.

Some Canadian is gonna get his ass kicked.
Still both are fucking warriors that symbolize archetypal talent.
I think GSP is phenomenal...

However, fuck man, that was Forrest Griffin.

Just watched the vid. Jesus Silva toyed with him like my dog with a new chew toy. Hands down, taunting, then KOing him like a chump with one shot after helping him up from his second knockdown.

I never thought Forrest was really that good anyway but Silva just made him look like a second tier punching bag.

Man would I ever love to see Machida/Silva. Although I think the whole first round would be them just walking around measuring each other.

Right. He's going to fight GSP. Dana hinted at it and wants it to happen.

he's not fighting GSP after that fight. He pretty much proved that he can fight for the 205 belt tommorrow. I honestly thought a fight between Silva and GSP was going to be good, not now. The only way to make it happen and be "somewhat" of a fight is to make Silva go down to 170. Even if they met at some catch weight silva would pummel horse fuck GSP, and I'm a huge GSP fan. This guy is simply in another class. Fuck, clean up the 205 and let's see if you can go meet Brock or Fedor.....I mean what else is next?

Let's be realistic. Silva's no HW. That would be asking to much. 205 is the highest he can go before the weight effects him. He's more suited to 185. He has a long lean body. Not like most people at 185 that are all bulky. His striking is above every one in his weight class. They can't react to his speed and how accurate he is with connecting. Most are sloppy and come charging forward. You always can see the common mma fighters strike coming before it happens. A HW version of silva is what can beat brock with takedown defense. Silva is the type of fighter I like to see.

Lamest UFC ever. Griffin knocked out by a jab while backing up? Bullshit... he quit. Griffin is slow, crude, and has no chin. He needs to find another profession. The Penn fight was a boring hug fest. Who the fuck is Florian, and WTF did he think he was accomplishing by hugging Penn against the cage for three rounds. UFC should boot his ass for such a stinker of a performance.

Kenflo was trying to work from within the clicnh to use his mauy thai he's so proud of and keep penn from throwing those hard jabs in his face. Basically, he wanted to control Penn and keep him from firing off.

That punch dosen't look like much, but the torque, the speed, hitting right on target, not seeing the punch coming, and adding him running into it caused that knockout. He timed him well coming forward. Silva pulled off an Ali. Ali use to throw that punch. Very nice finish. Effective if you know how to pull it off and set it up.

But you gotta do something to win rounds, though. Hugging along the cage isn't going to score points. He was down 0-3 on every judges scorecard. Stupid tactic.

I'm suprised, coming from you. It was a nicely timed punch, but not one that would put a guy down and out. Griffin took some good shots from Rampage that were much worse than that. After the second knockdown, he looked frightened and knew he was over his head. I believe he took the easy way out instead of going out on his shield.

Are you excited about Pacquiao/Cotto? I guarantee that it will be a fight worthy of discussion.

He knew that. He wanted to stick to his game plan to be safe. If he gave Penn a chance to gain distance he was going to tag ken. Penn has the best jabs I've seen mma.

Looking to "survive" a championship fight is cowardly. People don't pay money so watch somebody try to survive. I agree with you the Penn has the best jab in MMA. He's very comfortable boxing in the pocket because he's so relaxed and has great instincts. He shredded Sherk with it.

He was rocked for a split second. Go back and look it over. He wasn't lights out, but hurt nevertheless. He didn't want no more part of silva and he was about to be put out at anytime if he would of got up. The punch is called a phantom punch. It's hard to execute but if you can pull it off you can hurt someone with it bad enough. People aren't use to seeing it and very rarely ever seen. The punch exist and is effective.

I'm looking forward to the cotto and pac fight indeed. It's gonna be very exciting cause of thier style. Cotto style is made for pac though. I pick pac for this reason and cotto isn't the same young fighter he was a couple a yrs ago. After the way he lost to the tj tornado he's changed for the worse. He's awlays unsure of himeself and isn't as aggressive anymore. Pac's people picked the right time to fight cotto is his career.

hawaiianflash how you think the fight will go and why?

I think Pacquiao takes it. Cotto does not look the same since the Margarito fight. I've noticed that Cotto does not appear to have the same amount of explosive "snap" at the end of his punches. He still throws hard but lands with more of a "thud", that doesn't do the same amount of damage he once had. He looks too "tense" in the ring and throws every punch at full power. This is what causes him to always gas out at the end of fights. Cotto looked particulary tentitive in the middle of the Clottey fight (and it was due to more than the cut). I think that at some point in the early rounds, Cotto will "feel" Pacquiaos power and aggression and will mentally revert back to the Margarito fight.

Right on. He dosen't believe in himself like he did before. He knows he's human and can be hurt. His confidence and pride took a fall with his record. He's almost scared of being hit now that he dosen't fight with the same animal instict of the past.

Also, if cotto get's ko'd he's done being on top. Pac just dosen't ko you, he puts you out. Such a outcome would ruin him to point he'd drop down to the 10 spot of the WW class and may never make it back to the top.

MACHIDA and SILVA fight would be good. Both very elusive and technical.

They are both part of the same camp. They wont fight unless there is a split. Part of the reason both of those guys are so accurate and so elusive is that they have each other to spar against.

It would be the most skilled stand up battle the UFC ever had. I hope it happens. They need to change camps and break the friendship to prove who's the best. They can be friends later, this is in demand now.

Anderson wont fight his friends. He passed on fighting Paulo Filho for the same reason. I think Anderson should avenge his "loss" to Yushin Okami. I'm waiting for that match.

He can only avoid that for so long. Nobody cares about okami, we want the mega fight. Fans are going to be disappointed if it don't happen. Dana, wants to make sure we stay happy, he'll have to find a way.

Anderson can avoid fighting his friends forever. If contracts don't suit him, he can easily leave and go to Japan or Strikeforce.

You can't have guys from the same camp fighting each other. It destroys the camp. Every member of Blackhouse would suffer if Machida and Silva had to fight. Who would train whom? How could either properly prepare for the fight? Who corners whom?

Its funny though, I mean Penn went the distance with Lyoto, right? However, Penn got creamed by GSP.
Silva killed Forrest. So following this most ridiculous logic, which the logic of not at all...
Then, GSP should be able to handle Silva, cause he handled Penn, who went the distance with the King of 205.

Nopp.... I don't buy it.
Silva Kills GSP.

And Daiju Takase can take them all.

It's happened before. He use to be hardcore chutebox for years. He left and now look at the beef he has with them now. I wish and want it to happen. Fingers are crossed.

If he just wants to moonlight at 205, than no...I don't "have" to see him fight Machida. BUt if he intends to stay there.....what choice is there if Machida keeps the belt for a long time? Maybe Anderson can step up to HW while Lyoto has his run..??

What's up with you and hw? He's not a HW. He can hardly make the 205 limit. He use to fight at 170 for so long. You just want him to lose, huh? haha. By going up he lose's some speed. Thats something he has on everyone in the UFC. What does he have to gain by blowing up, giving up stenght, and weight for? He better be paid more then he ever has then. 185 lbs. is his best weight for him, anything else he looks unnatural.

Another person he's friends with i'd like to see him face is Belfort. Sucks the most exciting fighters are in the same class at the 205 weight class.
