Tuna Recipies

Ok guys, i'm getting tired of so much chicken and 97% lean ground beef so i'd like to start eating more tuna for protein. The problem with that is I can't stand the taste. My question is what kind of ways do you prepare tuna to get over the taste?

i tried it with mac and cheese, but would'nt eat it at nite as there is some trash in the cheese mix but good for bulking.
i mix tuna with non-fat mayo,a dash of mustard, some chopped celery, chopped apple, egg whites, and fresh pepper..throw in some sweet relsish and you are good to go

Tuna burgers:

1 6oz can tuna (drained)
1/2 c rolled oats
2 egg whites
1 tsp oregano (optional)
1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)

In a medium size bowl, mix tuna and egg whites. Add oats and spices and mix well. Form into patties and cook over medium heat until lightly browned. Turn over and cook for 1-2 minutes or until lightly browned.

Good stuff

i like to use relish with a few cans of tuna just to sweeten it up a little. no sugars just some sodium. nothing that a little sweat cant solve

When I make my typical tuna with mayo and oinions i added celery salt to the mix it knock down the fish taste alittle.

Other options is to mix the tune with one of the side dishes. can't remember the name but there similiar to hamburger helper. they are pasta based and come in different flavors. they work pretty well.

I like tuna but that strong fishy taste is not my favorite either. After experimenting for a while I used italian dressing because of its strong flavor. Just put in a couple of teaspoons of italian dressing, stir it up, put it on some whole wheat bread with some greens and you're set to go. Also, microwaving the tuna brings out an even stronger italian dressing flavor in my opinion.

Tuna Sandwich

Full can of tuna
Mix with 2 Tablespoons of relish
1 Tablespoon of Low fat Mayo(Miracle Whip)
Add a little mustard if you want

Spred out onto bread slice of your choice for a great tasting sandwich!

Lates!

I mix it with calorie-free honey dijon vinagrette, Ms. Dash spices and micro it for 20-30 seconds. On a lt. multigrain english muffin or low carb wheat pita.

There are alot of good calorie free dressings that help the tuna taste not fishy
and heating it up makes it better too!

Bro,
The vacume sealed pouches of tuna taste much fresher and are less fishey..a little lemon juice goes along way in making it smell better..

The only bad thing about the packaged tuna is that you can not rinse it ,
when you have the cans you can rinse it 4-5 times to get more sodium out of it, and get rid of some smell.

jesus, im glad i dont have you people making my food based on taste i guess, but.
one thing i think is good tasting and healthy is my favorite tuna style.

can tuna in bowl, mixed with greenpeppers, greenonions, orangepeppers(or red/yellow) and for flavor i use fat free, sundried tomato salad dressing...small amount is all you need and it completely fixes any hatred you have for the taste.

my fav. is tuna and cottage cheese w/ chili powder, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stuff it in a baked potato.

i like to open the can and place on a small cookie sheet bake until a little crusty, add lemon juice and top with a low sodium salsa, or make your own.

Another option is tuna packed in olive oil. Starkist and Chicken of the Sea have come out with cans, so it is just not just crazy expensive imported. It has way less fishy taste, good tender texture, and I use the olive oil as a base for a dressing. Or tastes great dumped as-is on rice or a salad. Mmmm unsaturated fats aplenty...

JUST TRIED IT, AWESOME!!!

3 garlic cloves crushed
1 hot pepper cut into small parts
1 can of tuna
fresh chopped parsley
1 can of crushed tomatoes
1 package of noodles

you heat the garlic in a pan with olive oil. add the pepper. then add the drained tuna. cook for a few mintues. add the tomatoes and parsley. boil water and cook noodles. drain noodles and combine the noodles with the tuna. takes about 20 minutes to make and it takes awesome.

i remember this post on one of the other forums where some guy said he puts his tuna with diet coke in a blender and chugs it down double quick!

try it with thai red curry paste for the chili paste and green onions for the regular onions :Chef:

OK..
1 can tuna
1 cup brillia plus pasta (cooked)
1 teaspoon classico pesto
drip low fat itailian dressing over top
add parmesan cheese, if desirered
very very good

I mix with diced onion, garlic, dill pickle and hot ring peppers or jalapinos with hellmans low fat mayo on whole weat. Sometimes I just mix with mayo and make samiches and use horseraddish seafood sauce for dip.

mayo, wasabi paste, and whatever veggies you like: celery, peppers, green onions, etc.

the wasabi paste completely takes away all fishy taste

I just did this last night and I gotta say.......ONE OF THE BEST TUNA RECIPES EVER!!!
Although I do have to say I did not use the oregano or chili powder, thought i'd try it basic first and it was great! A little bland with out the seasoning but great none the less. I did put some hot sauce on the after the first few bites and my flippin' head almost caved in they were so good. Very filling too! "K" to you my good man.

MOJO

Shit i just throw it on a frying pan and put it in my salad with a little low fat ranch. I hate tuna to but its just to damn good for you.
