Training at Eastside Gym in Tulsa Second Week of Jan????

Hey Guys,

We were wondering about coming out and training at Eastside Gym with you all for a ME Squat or DE squat session. (Maybe Me day, and we can do rack pulls or something and then play with strongman stuff.)

The second week of January would be optimal, really anywhere from the 6th-11th. Any weekday would be just as good as Saturday for me, but the 11th might be easier for everybody else.

Anyway, let's get something set up!

(Also, Dave how does the 6th look for me coming up? I guess I could also do Monday, the 30th. If we did ME Squat day on Monday, and we squatted, and then on Saturday at Eastside, we could pull - I think we could handle that. What do you think?) - I'm really impartial. And hell, after working bench next week, if my tendonitis has healed up, I could come up on a ME bench day in KC instead. Then all would be solved.)

I think I may have guests....if not I'd love to come. Hopefully project and hannibal will join me. :)

I'd love to get together and train in Tulsa. I start my Circa Max phase on the 10th, but if we were going to be in Tulsa on the 11th, I could start it then. If we do it earlier in the week, I'd be down for some ME stuff.

Rack pulls just happen to be my least favorite thing ever, but if that's what we're doing it's all good.

Matt, Jan 6th looks good to me. If your arms heal and you want to come up and train on a bench day that's cool too. Just let me know.

I do my D.E. squats every saturday at Eastside, so any saturday would be fine with me. Just let me know when everyone plans to be here.

I have guests the weekend of the 3rd, but the 11th works great for me...and DE squats sound great. I think we start circa max that weekend too.

OK - the 11th it is then!

DE Squat Day, Speed Pulls (which will turn into a competition), and playing around with strongman stuff

Some thoughts on training...

For those of you (which are all of us from the Springfield Crew) who plan on running a circa-maximal phase going into the February meet in St. Louis, the 11th WILL be week one of that phase.

So we all need to do a little planning before we training together on DE Squats that day.

Week One of CircaMax (if you go by the guidlines) is 47% + CM Band. Typically I could care less what we do for weight, but I know the majority of us stay pretty strict with this cycle.

So we kinda need to figure out where everyone will be, and what bands and weight to use.

I will use 275 or so and blues+pinks.
Chris will use 225 plus blues+pinks. (Not quite a 500 squatter, but should be at St. Louis so we give him the benefit of the doubt
:) )
I think Dave will use around 405 plus blues+greens (Dave will have to verify this though.)

Not sure what the rest of you use. I believe you all (Okie, VDOP, Benchmonster, Screwball, and Hannibal) all squat in the 550-650 range? - So the 5 of us should be able to all squat together, and just add or take away a few pounds here or there.

Anyway, I just couldn't be more bored, so I thought I would throw something at everyone to think about.

Yo Matt, I plan on using 370 with blue and greens. If this ends up being too light, I'll just add weight from there.

That's cool - I knew you'd be somewhere in that vicinity. BTW, what is your brother squatting? What do you think he'll use?

AnimalMass-

Do you think the CircaMax is too advanced for me? I was thinking I had read IrishPower say someting about you shouldnt even mess with the circa routine untill you were squatting X-amount.

Later..

I don't think you can say if you squat x amount, then you can do the circa max. I think it really comes down to how long you've been squatting with bands, and if you are comfortable with your form on a box and whatnot.

If you've been box squatting for a couple years now using bands, then I think even guys who squat under 500 can benefit from a circa-maximal phase where you add more band tension and really push it.

I'll consider it then. Ive been trying to igure out how to work bands with some structure to it, rather than just throwing them in every now and again.

Can you post the %'s and bands I need to use(or a link). I remember seeing a post by Bob Youngs at one time, but dont remember at what site.

Later..

Yo Matt, Kyle will use around 350 with blues and greens I think. We figured the percentages off a 750 squat which I think is doable for him right now. It will be close enough to me that we could work together and just add and subtract weight between sets.

By the way, Matt, my other training partner want to go to Tulsa to train and meet everyone. He'll be lifting in St. Loius. He plans on doing a Circa Max phase. He should be squatting around 600, so around 300 and bands would work for him.

Those numbers sound good for me. I plan to just do a few sets of speed work, tho, then work up to a free squat max to see how I am doing at the moment.

Oh, and Animalmass, I did 430 plus blues on my 10th set the other day. Just thought I would throw that one out there for you. Tee hee.

Yeah, the 11th it is.

If it's not too much trouble, I would rather workout fairly early (like 10am or so? - 11am at the latest?), and then we can eat a late lunch and genemachine and I can head back home.

This is the last weekend before going back to school, and as most of you know genemachine got married over Christmas break and he and I would like to spend the last evening of our vacation with our wives.

Woud this be ok?

ok, spatts and I have talked, and if it is ok with everyone else - could we meet at 11am?

That puts the KC crew leaving at 7am, and Springfield Crew leaving at 8am.

Not quite so early, but it doesn't waste all day and night. We can spend some family time that evening that way.

Thanks Everybody!

11:00 sounds good. I will have to leave pretty quick after lifting to go get my kiddos, tho.

Hey, VDOP, please don't forget to bring my Knee wraps when you come down. Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, what weights are everybody planning for DE work saturday. I get the impression there is going to be a shitload of us, so we might try and figure out how to break it into a coupla smaller groups so there isnt 20 min rest between everybodys sets.

sumthin to think about..

Hey Okie, KC and Springfield crews. Sorry about being out of the loop but I've had some major life changes in the past couple of months. I have been relocating so my PC and internet access have been limited. I did hear about the group training at Eastside Gym (new name???) on Saturday and I plan to drop by to see everyone. No training for me yet because I'm too weak and skinny (Ha, ha!). I hope to see everyone on Saturday. Good training!
