Tools to fight belly bloat?

New member
Hey guys .. what is the major cause of a bloated belly while on gear or post cycle ?

I don't mean fat around the midline , I want to know what causes the gut to distend or bloat to the point you can stick it out like a pregnant woman .

Secondly , what if anything can be done to curb this unsightly issue .

Re: Tools to fight belly bloat ?

water retention, nolvadex and/or arimidex will help. If your bulking its also from all the food you eat, feels like you just ate Thanksgiving Day dinner 24/7.

lol, hell yeah it does.

Re: Tools to fight belly bloat ?

I'd say it's mainly the food that makes your gut stick out.

I recently got some Doctor's Trust Digestive Enzymes, and they seem to help a fair bit.

Re: Tools to fight belly bloat ?

Reason i ask is ... A new guy has joined our little group of faithfull plate hoisters , he has nice solid legs ( no fat ) nice arms chest back etc etc ..

YET .... He has a gut that he can stickout like he drinks a fricken keg a week , well maybe not that bad .. but , he can suck it up and looks decent yet he can stick this gut out thats as hard as a basketball ... said he never had a gut till he started a few cycles .

So do you guys think it all to do with his diet now to rid this ? and if so can he diet down his gut yet still retain the muscle size on the rest of his frame .

Re: Tools to fight belly bloat ?

Unless he's really abusing stuff -- gh gut??? or whatever (sorry not an expert here .. just repeating stuff... LOL) But most likely his diet. Could be a really caustic protein mix - maybe egg or milk based that he has trouble digesting, maybe doesnt' get enough fiber, maybe eats broccoli by the ton (broccoli has a sugar in that we dont' have a natural enzyme to deal w/ it so you can get nasty bloat from it sometimes -- thus stuff like Beano or Digestive Enzymes are God's gift). Maybe he just eats like shit and his body is so bogged down w/ stuff from an unbalanced diet that it doesnt' digest efficiently.

I'd look at diet first.

It's your diet. Bloat can be a factor, along with indigestion. How's the fiber in your diet? You should consider increasing fiber intake and maybe add digestive enzymes.

Re: Tools to fight belly bloat ?

I have been curious about this for years now. Even when I am at 6%bf I still have a huge stomach that sticks out. I have never ran HGH or slin which I had thought would cause this, but it pisses me off. If I have a shirt on, people actually think I have a big fat stomach even when Im in the single digit bf range, because it sticks out so far when Im not paying attention and keeping it tight. I have tried many things and it will not go away. I have an appointment with a stomach/GI specialist in a week to get some tests done for some issues im having, so Im going to see if he knows what could be the cause. But I have to disagree with those saying its the diet, because I have it whether Im on a 1500cal diet or a 4000-5000 cal diet.

Re: Tools to fight belly bloat ?

Sounds like me also, I have had that problem for years, even when I competed always had my stomach descended. Had to be real careful esp. with the carbing phase of the diet. If anyone has any solutions I would love to hear em

Re: Tools to fight belly bloat ?

Nice to see some intrest in this topic ... seems like it's more common to those who have been around awhile then the newbies.

Any suggestions out there for a fix ??

Would be nice to get back to helping BB related issues then dealing with members personal issues and laundry for a change

So how about it ?? Any suggestions on a bodybuilding related topic

instead of "your", replace with "his" ;)

The root of most problems for bodybuilders is diet.

Re: Tools to fight belly bloat ?

I've always felt like if the gut bloat wasn't there on me during bulking, that I'm not eating enough. People always have their trouble areas, but I've seen the bloated gut phenomenon and would like to think that it's diet related. Physical structure of your body dictates that you have abs, that they can't grow too huge, and that you collect fat in the gut area? So it has to be either water bloat or fat, anyone?

Re: Tools to fight belly bloat ?

I have the same thing and been wondering myself what the root cause is .

For some strange reason i seem to breath from my stomache area , it's easier to breath with my stomache going in and out then it is expanding my ribcage and breathing high if you would call it that .

I can stike a pose and show off my ab's but i can also stick out my gut like a basketball is under my skin so why is that ?

Like why do those children in 3rd world countries that are starving have bloated bellies yet they are dying from starvation , here i have this nice muscular body yet i can jut out this rock hard boulder and i seem to breath lower in my abdomin .

Does anyone think there could possibly be a corilation between more muscle mass in the chest making it more difficult to expand properly so breathing is down lower , just a thought i'm not a doctor or anything

I have this problem, could also be a weak/loose transversus abdominus. Bad posture can also make it worst.

Ya the good old transverse , natures own girdle

The olny excersise i know to strengthen it or tighten it is going down prone on all fours , then exhaling all your air and let the tummy hang then without drawing a breath suck the stomach in as tight as possible and hold for 1 minute taking shallow breaths through your nose . Release and repeat

Usually during a cut diet you're on a much more restricted diet, as in variety of foods. A good balanced diet includes fruits & veggies and just a greater variety of food, which chances are better that you probably get that on a bulker or just "off season". Also stuff like broccoli is just not conducive to "easy digestion". I'm a HYUGE fan of doing a detox diet (juicing, lots of fruits, etc.) at least 1x/year after being on that restricted diet. I also include a couple rounds of colon cleanse. Its not wonderful but it's not gonna hurt either.

Re: Tools to fight belly bloat ?

Lots of good information on this site, also as a very far reached possiblity...it could be something in the genetics, but doubtful.

Sounds like a bad diet to me

Work your transverse abdominals.

Funny thing !!! I've hav'nt started to meow yet :p

Re: Tools to fight belly bloat ?

Great thread. I also have this problem too. I always thought it was because of developed abs underneath the skin making the layer of skin/fat you have on top stick out more.

<p>A new drug, <strong>Kybella</strong> (<strong>deoxycholic acid</strong>), that specifically targets chin fat has just been approved by the FDA</p><p> What's more is that, as a bodybuilder, you can use this drug on belly fat covering your abs to quickly dissolve fat cells and to blast fat in other areas.</p><p>Have any of you guys tried it yet? Please report here when you do.</p><p>Here's a link to a new article I wrote: </p><p><a href="http://bodybuilding.elitefitness.com/kybella-using-deoxycholic-acid-get-rid-belly-fat" target="_blank"><strong>Kybella: Using Deoxycholic Acid To Get Rid Of Belly Fat</strong></a></p><p><a href="http://bodybuilding.elitefitness.com/kybella-using-deoxycholic-acid-get-rid-belly-fat" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.elitefitness.com/images/kybella-deoxycholic-acid/kybella-deoxycholic-acid.jpg" alt="Kybella Deoxycholic Acid" /></a></p>
