TITAN Training...update...WAHOO..I LOVE this SH@#!

New member
Well 4 1/2 weeks now and I'm still gainin'. Strength hasn't gone up a whole helluva lot, but I busted thru my plateau's since starting this so that says a lot. This workout kicks ass and is also kickin' MY ass at the same time. I'm in the gym no more than 40 min's and feel like I've been there for 2 hours when I'm done. Serious intensity. Body weight hovering around 195 up from 185 when I first started. Hell I'll Take It! Noticing SERIOUS improvements in upperbody physique...especially shoulders, chest and tri's. I can't stress enough that if there's anyone out there looking to change up their workout...and start something new and fresh...give this workout a shot. As long as you eat right and get enough rest you definitely will NOT be disappointed. P SOUT.

Sounds great bro! Must be some high intensity balls to the wall workouts. I have heard nothing but rejoice for this program. So now I have to ask, how much is the program? Tried the Big Beyond Belief program years ago and was more than pleased with the results. But a few years and beers later kinda lost what I worked for. Now been back in the groove seriously for about a year and need a fucking vast improvment on what I am doing now. So how much does the whole program cost and where do I sign?

Hey man whatsup? Check out my previous post...

TITAN TRAINING...DETAILS OF THE WORKOUT.

But if you go to www.otsdirect.com you can order it.
It comes with the manual and a video taking you thru a sample workout. everything comes to $74 after tax and shipping.

Sample workout

Hi Tronious,

please can you tell me the exercises in the sample workout in the video?
Because I have bought only the book through amazon, so I´m very interested what ´s in the video and wich exercises are shown there.

You know, next week I will start my second cycle. In the first one I gained some nice pounds, but I think not all of them was muscles.

Exercises shown were Squats, Front Military Press (with BarBell), Flat Bench (BarBell), Curls (EZ Curl Bar), Skull Krushers (EZ Curl Bar), Straight Leg Dead Lifts (BarBell)

it is kick ass!

Thanks for the details, I love this workout as well, but I am in the gym for longer than 45 moinutes (personal adjustments)

Thanks again]

tronious I am starting up again baby! I cant wait until I get to the fucking muscle rounds!! I wanted to post this because its written by a VERY respected person on these boards.

To tell you the truth: It worked like crap. It didn't do anything for me, because I am not a powerlifter and my body doesn't respond great to Titan Training. Therefore, I usually use other training methods. Hit Training is a pretty good one, although I consider it a bit hyped up, it still works.

Remember, just because it didn't work for me, doesn't mean it will not work for you. Try it, it might work wonders for your body.
Mr.X

Not that I am trying to say there is anything wrong with Titan Training by any means but its crazy how a program can work wonders for some (you) and no do a thing for others. Oh well. :D:D

Yeah that's pretty wild...I dunno man...it's workin' for me. I wish I had some before's so I could post some before and after's. But oh well...just stick with it dude if you start it.

MONSTAR what's up dude! Welp, it's Thursday night in Pittsburgh, PA and I'm about to die...but I LOVE IT! Muscle Rounds today...Squats, deadlifts, calves and BENCH...did 3 muscle round sets on flat bench and did the last round with weighted dips. Really liked the weighted dips at the end.

Gains have slowed down now. 2 more weeks and I go into the specialization weeks. Will probably do 2 days of chest specialization and 2 days of muscle rounds... not sure though...

All in all, still lovin' the workout. Lookin' bigger, gettin' compliments, most important feelin' great! Feel strong as I've ever felt, and healthy as I've ever felt. Hardest part of this workout isn't the workout itself...I LOVE beatin' myself at the gym. The hardest part is bein' strict with my diet. It's harder than I thought it would be. It's really tough keepin' carbs down. But anyways...goin' good...how 'bout you man? You stickin' with it this time? Or is it gettin' too tough again :D Just kiddin'...

:D:D

Im trying to bro! Haha last time I have to admit I fucked it up but the muscle rounds might have been a LITTLE bit more than I could handle. Haha not though time though dude Im gonna fucking attack the weights on the muscle rounds.. 2 days until the muscle rounds baby Im pumped up baby!:mad::mad:

tronious....
You got the right idea for your signature picture but you gotta start it with
url] whatever bla bla)

:D:D

Haha yeah you would think so... but sometimes ya just never know. Thats a phat picture bro I wanna get to 600 fucking posts so I can get an Anavar or whatever their called under my name. :D:D

Ummm... 2 weeks per week can work wonders, where each workout is no mor than a hour long. Ofcourse if you kmnow what you are doing. Things like Titan Training can be good sometimes in some situations.

Genetically gifted to gain from Titan Training?? Please.. have you tried it yourself Robboe and thats how you know? Dont think so. EXPERIENCE is what you need before making you stupid ass comments.

When i was younger i tried routines very similar and got no where fast.

I can make the assumption that i did by only looking at it.

Monstar, at WBB where the big dogs play you got chased out the yard, but here you fit right in.

@WannaBeBig? I got chased out of the yard by the big dogs??? Haha you have got be kidding me? I didnt care for WBB @ all because it was all HIT advocates that swore but that and nothing else. You Cackerot69 and the rest of them. If I feel like trying a HIT routine Ill go back there dont worry. Haha. :FRlol:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAH

So many people on this board crack me up. I'm sorry I even posted info about that Titan training workout. Alex and Robboe...what are your problems? I don't understand why people have to chastize other people about their workouts and whatnot. If you disagree with someone about their workout...give advice...haha...don't make smart a$$ comments. Support people don't put them down. Genetically gifted...I HAFTA comment on that one.

I was 6'2" 140-145lbs. my freshman year of college. When I graduated I was 6'2" 180lbs. I worked out a lot, but couldn't workout seriously during most of the school year because I played basketball. When I got out, I started training like it was I needed it to survive. Made gains...hit MANY plateau's on many programs. This TITAN program has been a God send for me. it's worked like a charm. I'm not BS'in about it...no need to. I don't know any of you people nor will I ever seen any of you I'm sure. I'm just presenting the facts from my situation. And the facts are...I'm not a Genetically gifted person. haha...i love that phrase...I'm a hard a$$ worker, who has gotten tremendous gains on this program. 'nuff said. :D :D :D :D :D

What exactly is the diet/workout to this training method?? I am interested to see if it is something that could help me. If your willing to give a little bit of it up, PM me and let me know.

Titan Training is a great system. Like I've said before, its a little bit ridiculous for a 15 year old with a few months of training under his belt to be hurling wise ass remarks when quite simply, they haven't had the training experience to be able to accurately judge ANY training protocol. Cackerot's & Robboe's "knowledge" is certainly not empirical. It comes from reading Cyberpump and other HIT sites which are based on skewed training protocols by arthur jones. I'm not judging them as people but now maybe more people can see why I got so irritated with a few on this board. Current views on training science all but completely invalidate the views held by Jones etc. If you want to be on the cutting edge of strength training research Dr. Mel Siff runs a great mailing list and Zatsiorsky has some great, though complicated books out.

But... what do I know.. I'm just an idiot. ^_~

I just started with Titan Training yesterday, but I added up the minutes and noticed that Day 1 will always take about an hour and 10 minutes to complete. The rest of the days are fine though.

Btw, I felt like I had just run the Boston Marathon after I finished. It is an INTENSE routine.

LOL...wait 'till you get to the muscle rounds! That Boston Marathon will feel like a 100 yard dash. If you're going to do the program though...just my 2 cents here...follow the rest times to a T. Don't add a few seconds or minutes here or there. The program was designed the way it is for a reason. They state in the program that I bought that after 45-50 min's...you're basically wasting your time. Something about hormone levels...can't remember off the top of my head. Good luck with you trainin' dude. I've been doing it for a while now and I love it.

overtraining

Today will be my second day of Titan Training, and yesterday was definitely a kick-ass workout. It also took me about an hour-ten, but my rests in between exercises may have been a little too long. My question is, from everything I've read it seems that working a bodypart THREE times a week HAS to be overtraining! I mean, I lifted chest last thursday and when I had to do volume training with it yesterday it still wasn't recovered. Does the fact that I'm not going to failure, coupled with volume training one day and heavy the other, avoid overtraining??

incidentially, while I was in the gym yesterday big Mike Katz (who owns the gym I go to in his hometown - and mine- of North Branford, CT) came over and started giving me some free advice on my squats! It was awesome to meet him, he's a great guy. For those who dont' know Mike or want a good lifting movie, WATCH 'PUMPING IRON'!!

I'll be honest with you in that I'm not really sure off the top of my head as to how you avoid overtraining. You are probably doing 1/3 the number of sets you would normally do on a regular workout day. Like for instance day 1, you're doing 3 sets of chest, day 2, you're 5 sets and day 4 (muscle rounds) you're doing...well the muscle rounds are all fucked up...haha...so I don't know what's even considered a set. Importance of not going to failure though still sticks out in my mind from the video and the book as to one of the reasons for not overtraining. They talk a good deal about this topic in the book and video actually. Good luck on the muscle rounds! :D :D

Second day of Titan Training complete, and my legs are wasted. I had trouble walking this morning.

I'm wondering, for the base training, what percentages of your 1RM are you doing for each set? I did incline dumbbell press before doing dumbbell shoulder press, and by the time I got to shoulder press I was doing only about 70% of the amount of weight I normally do.

Muscle rounds begin tomorrow.

I do have a few questions:

1) What specific exercises does Leo Costa Jr. recommend on each day of training (does he recommend any in particular? Should it be mixed up each week? Held consistent?). I'd greatly appreciate it if either MonStar or tronious could type up what is recommended for each day of training.

2) On the base training am I supposed to be doing as much weight as I would if I was doing only 3 sets of say 8 reps? More weight? Less weight?

3) Sometimes I'm reaching failure at some lower weights because of the intensity of the training. Will this effect my progress? Should I just go with the lighter weights to meet the suggested reps, or should I do forced reps with the help of a spotter?

4) How long is it recommended to stay on this routine? 6 weeks, then rotate off and do another routine? Or, six weeks, one week off, six weeks, one week off, etc.?

5) Is there ever a specialization week? A week where you might focus on certain muscles more than usual? If so, what would this routine look like.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Leviathan...you said you finished day 2 of TITAN training and muscle rounds begin tomorrow? Bad idea...the workout calls for a day off for recovery. day1,day2 workout...day3 rest...days4 and 5 muscle rounds. Answers to you questions :

1) What specific exercises does Leo Costa Jr. recommend on each day of training (does he recommend any in particular? Should it be mixed up each week? Held consistent?). I'd greatly appreciate it if either MonStar or tronious could type up what is recommended for each day of training.

-For base training and muscle rounds...use compound movements. i.e. don't use machines. Bench, weighted dips, squats...etc.

-For volume training...use machines if you'd like.

2) On the base training am I supposed to be doing as much weight as I would if I was doing only 3 sets of say 8 reps? More weight? Less weight?

For base training...basically pick a weight you think you can do for that specific number of reps. At first, you may even go down in weight a little as your body adjust to the new demand. Me doing chest for base training...

8-reps 185
6-reps 200
5-reps 210
4-reps 215
3-reps 215

With only a minute and a half rest in between, sometimes you get fatigued. The premise of their training with the base training is that you gradually increase the weight of your first set each workout for base training...not the last. This will more than likely naturally lead to your final set going up as well. i.e. after a week or two I'll up my first set of 8 to 190 or 195.

3) Sometimes I'm reaching failure at some lower weights because of the intensity of the training. Will this effect my progress? Should I just go with the lighter weights to meet the suggested reps, or should I do forced reps with the help of a spotter?

Stay away from forced reps. They say this in the manual and video. Drop weight...or if you are supposed to do 5 reps...and know for a fact that after 4 reps you're spent...stop at 4.

4) How long is it recommended to stay on this routine? 6 weeks, then rotate off and do another routine? Or, six weeks, one week off, six weeks, one week off, etc.?

It's a 12 week cycle...do the training that you're doing now for 8 weeks...then for the next 3 weeks...work on any lagging body parts...basically do your own workout...anything other that TITAN training. Then for week 12...take that week off. Do nothing. Then start the whole thing back over.

5) Is there ever a specialization week? A week where you might focus on certain muscles more than usual? If so, what would this routine look like.

See answer #4...but they call weeks 9 thru 11 the "specialization training" weeks to catch up lagging parts or to work on certain parts you're not happy with.

Good luck and ask any ?'s you want. I'll answer any one's I can.

Thanks for the advice tronious. I don't think I clarified myself properly in the previous post. I meant that I finished my second workout yesterday, and I'm unable to walk today. Tomorrow will be muscle rounds, so today is my rest day.

I think I was so used to the HIT mentality that I was trying to lift too heavy on the 8,6,5,4,3 set scheme. I guess it'll just take a week or two to make my workout more efficient.

Personally, I think we should start a Titan Training e-mail list or something to discuss what is working and what is not.

LeviathanX...

AGREED. :D:D

I definitely think thats a good idea bro. Seriously I mean tronious recommends a certain diet that is backed up by Leo Costa Jr... but you never really know like exactly what type of diet to be using for the best possible results, you never really know what supplements to be using... while your in ketosis (which is the diet Leo Costa Jr. recommends) should you take your creatine before your workout or still take it with a postworkout shake.. everything is just thrown up in the air. Obviously a SHITLOAD of sleep is a necessity. A TON of H20 is a necessity because with the low carbs your body is gonna be pouring water out. Creatine should be helpful with recovery. I dont know bro we need to get a LOT of people doing this program to get some facts down on what works and what doesnt.

Hey it sounds good to me.

In the mean time...send posts and whatnot to

[email protected] if y'all want.

Password will be : lifthard

that way anyone who wants to put out some info can send emails there and read them there. I don't know of any other way to start a list.

Jeremy21, I've been waiting for someone to say something like that since the first time I read one of Cackerot's posts back on musclemag.com. That 16 year old sure knows how to rehash things he's read on cyberpump...

Titan Training is a great system. Like I've said before, its a little bit ridiculous for a 15 year old with a few months of training under his belt to be hurling wise ass remarks when quite simply, they haven't had the training experience to be able to accurately judge ANY training protocol. Thank you. You made my day.

All training programs work for a while. Titan training. HIT. Everything. I just get a little sick to my stomach when I read them talking about how HIT is the only way and everyone else is overtraining...

(typical conversation)

Everyone else is overtraining, huh? "Yes, more than 2 sets per bodypart per week is overtraining."

Then why are they bigger than you? "Because they are genetically gifted".

Maybe they just work hard. "They're steroid users."

That's the rundown of a hundred arguments I've had with HITters in the last few years :)

Karellan

I couldnt agree more bro.. HIT didnt do jack shit for me at all. One of my friends can train with HIT or similar routine and make great gains but personally it sucks for my body. I need volume to even start to make some gains.

Whatsup tronious haha its all good bro dont worry about it... HIT stands for High Intensity Training... its a system of training that supports low volume work. Like maybe 1-3 sets per bodypart. Instead of doing 3-4 sets of a couple of exercises they support the idea of doing one set to failure... doesnt work for me!

Defintely bro itll help you get out of a rut and really kickstart your training all the way... the gains are INCREDIBLE from what I understand...

:D:D

I am on my 2nd week now Ill letcha know how I do with it bro. Check out my Training Journal.

leanMachine...I've been doing this workout for about 6 1/2-7 weeks now. I've never done a workout this intense. You have to be disciplined as hell if you're going to do it. You have to stick to the rest times and only lift on the days you're supposed to. Gotta get plenty of sleep (although that shouldn't be a problem), drink a lot of water and obviously get a ton of protein. Also, just my opininon, I think a good multi-vitamin would be great. I think it's a great workout for someone who's been off for a while. However, I don't know that I would jump right into it. I'd maybe go 1 week of doing 8-12 reps per exercise...then a second week of 4-6 reps just to prepare your body because it's a seriously intense workout. Just my 2 cents though as I don't claim to be some knowit-all when it comes to training. Just speakin' from real-world experience. Later.

When tronious says you must be self-disciplined he isn't kidding, there are times during this workout that you will want to quit because you are so damn tired or your muscles have just given out.

I would recommend a few weeks of less intense gym work before you jump into Titan Training.

One other thing I notice, and I may be wrong, but it seems like Titan Training aims more at getting the overweight person ripped (hence the ketosis diet it suggests) than the thin person bulked. Either way, however, you WILL be sore after these workouts. I've been using HIT principles for the last 6 months, and when I jumped into Titan Training I could hardly walk the first couple of days.

LeviathanX

AGREED bro.

These workouts are so physically exausting a lot of times your right you do just want to quit. You just keep thinking you know what I am gonna fuck this bullshit go back to normal training and eat a lot of carbs. Haha sticking to a 0-carb diet and working out with workouts this intense is really seriously crazy I mean its tough shit bro. You gotta have a lot of discipline and alot of guts to hang in there. I took 2 binge days and really replenished my glycogen and even now after being back into the low-carbs again I am fucking beat. I always get 7+ hours of sleep per night and honestly thats not enough sometimes.. I am about to bump it up to 8+ or 9+. Good luck bro if you try it as me, or tronious, or LeviathanX, if you have any Qs.

:D:D

Levanthian...that makes a lot of sense actually. About the program being geared for guys who are already bigger. I might change my diet a little. I'm about 5-6% body fat so I'm not worried about cutting up. Uppin' my carb intake might help me out some more and I think I can avoid putting on too much xtra fat with my body type. Good point.

In so far as soreness goes...me personally...I'm never sore after the Volume/Base training workouts for days one and two. A little tight the next day maybe. But never sore. HOWEVER...and that's a BIG however...after the muscle rounds!?!?!? hold Shnikey's Batman. I'm sore as fuck. Today...my legs aren't too too bad. They're sore...but not that sore. My chest however. Oh my GOD. When I stretch or something while I'm sittin' at my desk...my chest just yells at me and tells me to not do that again...haha. :D But...I LOVE IT. I fucking LOVE IT. My chest is finally makin' my shirts bulge. Ectomorphs traditionally have a flatter chest from what I understand so it's tough to get a big chest 'cause we're so long and lanky. But with some balls to wall hard work...and in my case anyways with this program...I'm finally gettin' it. 'Bout friggin' time!

Oh yeah...and when you're doing the muscle rounds...and you feel like quittin'...or cuttin' it one set short. Do what I do. I carry around a picture of a hot ass chick and a picture of Vin Diesel (just because that's the build I want). Look at those two...and I'm motivated right away!

Vin Diesel :D . I gotta put on some serious mass to match up to that dude, but I have his definition. A lot of people say I'm a prime candidate for juicing. That annoys me, because I swore to myself that I would never take gear, and I plan to stick to that promise.

Ah well... a few more years of training, bucket loads of food, and good ol' sleep should do the trick.

Hey tronious & MonStar, what percentage of your 1RM are you doing on muscle rounds?

80% + overtraining

That's great...I'm pulling 70% at most. The rounds are killers! As far as my earlier post about overtraining...this is my second week of TT and after the first week's workouts I DEFINITELY felt overtrained. Then, I workout yesterday and Monday and find that my I was able to bench 20 lbs more and squat 20 lbs more on my fifth sets on base days. Granted I just started barbell bench again so some of it is adjusting to the motion, but still! Every exercise I've done has gone up in weight/reps, including ones that I was doing already for 10 weeks before I switched programs. I wasn't even able to eat much at all last week since I had dental shit done! I'll update as I go, but so far TT is great for me.

Tronius,
I don't know if you remember me or not, but I am the powerlifter who wants to try this workout but can't cuz' he's training for a meet. Well anyway, I went on vacation for a week, and had to lift at a pussy country club type gym, where powerlifting wouldn't really be safe or possible. Since I had to take a week off of training, I decided to do TT for a week just for fun. Here are the results.
1). It is hard as shit
2). I increased my caloric intake by 25-40%, and still got noticeable leaner.
3). Gained 5lbs.
4). Had a non-stop pump all week.
5). I hit a PR this week when I went back to my PL'ing workout, and I expect to hit a few more.

The only differences I employed were doing a TKD instead of a CKD, because I knew I wouldn't be able to do the high reps without the pre-wkt carbs. I also drank an entire liter of diluted Gatorade mixed with 5 grams of BCAA's and Glutamine each (my own version of the product Glutacene). I think this really saved my ass in terms of soreness. Nonetheless, I give this workout two big fat thumbs up, and I am planning on finding a way to work it in to my powerlifting lifestyle. Any suggestions are appreciated. Later,
Joe

sweet man...glad to hear it. I'd be interested to see how you incorporate that into your powerlifting...

how close together are your competitions. The program is an 8 week cycle...maybe every month do a week of it or something to change things up

Tronious,
I generally only do two meets a year. My training cycles are about 12-14 wks. long with one week for the meet and one week for rest afterwards. That leaves me with at worst 20 wks. left. I could get in two cycles of TT. What I think would be fun to toy with would be alternating 8wks of TT with a condensed 8wk. PL cycle indefinitely. It would certainly keep things fresh. I think I would have a hard time convincing my partners to try that though. Something to think about...................

Joe

I think if you got your partners to at least try it...tell them the results will speak for themselves. I think that would be a helluva workout regimen.

what's up tronius

80%--> my thoughts on percentage of 1RM
+
overtraining--> my thoughts on....overtraining!
:bright:

-today's my day off from TT...can't decide if I feel relaxed or just lazy!

matteoja...

Really bro a TKD worked better for you? Damn yo for me I think a TKD is too hard to follow I need the fucking carb-up day!! I dont know though whatever floats your boat I guess... Whatd you take as carbs beforehand? I heard Sweettarts are good. I am using a CKD good job with the progress congats.

:D:D

Monstar,
Fpr my TKD, I usually eat 25 or so gr. of whole food carbs (i.e. 1/2 bagel, small bowl of cereal), and then I sip my dextrose, BCAA, glutamine concoction throughout the wkt. Post workout, I shoot for the old 1:1 high glycemic carb to protein ratio. All in all it is like 100 gr. of carbs. But it should all be burned or stored as muscle glycogen. In this case I am really lucky. I have never had a sweet tooth, so I don't miss carbs (Except Pizza). This is the easiest diet for me to follow and I find it is fantastic for performance. Good Luck, and be Patient!!!

Joe

Yeah seriosuly bro I have a problem when it comes to high-fat diets and sticking to them I dont know what my problem is... I cant figure out why I have such issues with sticking to that type of diet. I am probably going to start with the Shift Diet by Mr.X tomorrow. From everything I have read I should achieve great results with that diet. We'll see though.

I bought the titan training manual and am gonna start the workout in 1 week.
I'm gong to college so I play on following a high fat/high protein/low carb diet as the book recommends but should I eat carbs one day a week or not?
I say low carbs cuz I dunno that it'll be 0 but it won't be over 30
