It all started about 9 yrs ago but I knew somethin wasn't right but docs kept telling me i was fine all blood test normal. Finally after about a year i felt a lump in my throat so doc did ultrasound and sure enough they found a lump. A few months later they determined it was CANCER and removed my thyroid. For the next 8 weeks my body was deprived of thyroid hormones so they could do radiation on me. Let me tell you it was a living HELL i would not wish this on my worst enemy. After years of trying to get dosage right I finally am on comb t4 and t3 so almost normal but just not the same as the real thing. To me this is something we really should leave alone and I am not conviced that supp with t4 or t3 accomplishes much anyway. The more you take your thyroid just produces that much less. I am in no way blaming cancer on steroid use at all it was just the luck of the draw. Food for thought

My thyroid was removed due to cancer also. Id like to try the armour thyroid. My endo is persistant with synthroid and does NOT want me on anything else...I think most Endo's are in the pockets of the makers of synthroid.

Ya mine to but i self medicate he doesn't have a clue. Felt like shit just on synthroid. Would like to try Armour too but pretty happy with with cytomel along with synthroid. Take 150 mcg synthroid and split cytomel 25 mcg twice daily.

Im on testosterone replacemnt therapy also, and I had my trt doc check my thyroid levels last week and my tsh is high (over 9) and my t3 is in the low normal range..83.
Im going in today and ill see if he can supplement me with cytomel. Right now im on 175 mcg synthroid. I used to be in the normal tsh range at this dose, but after going on testosterone replacement im going hypothyroid but my trt doc doesnt seem to think the testosterone will effect it...i think it is though.
Are you on any androgens fugative?

Havent done a cycle since all this shit happened 9yrs ago. Just thinking of getting back into it 49 now so we will see. I would tend to agree with your doc test replacement should have no bearing on your levels. Have you added anything else like vitamins or calcium as these can have a huge impact on how much your body absorbs. How long have you been on synthroid.

My thyroid was removed in october of '08. I was on synthroid for a few months and then stopped for the radiation treatment then went back on. Ive been on steady since Jan '09 (I also went off for two weeks for the scan which came up clear for the cancer)I havent added any type of supplements.
I was experiencing some serious brain fog, fatigue and various other symptoms and my endo didnt want to check my test levels so I went to a trt clinic and they tested it and it came back on the low end so he put me on test cyp every week (been on for about 8 weeks now).
After reading thyroid forums just about everyone thats on synthroid complains about it and have switched to armour or supplement with t3 and feel better. My Endo says he does not want to supplement t3 cause he thinks it will cause my heart to do wierd things (there is nothing wrong with my heart by the way)..so Im gonna see what a different doc has to say. Ive gained weight (fat) and Im tired all the damn time...I dont think my body is converting the t4 into enough t3

Ya that heart bullshit thats the same thing my doc was concerned about. Some people just can't convert t4 to t3 at the cellular level or at least enough of it. Your thyroid does produce t3 along with t4 but that doesn't do us any good. Thats why i self medicated and if you can convince him or her you should notice a great improvement in a short time I sure did. Let me know how you make out and you could always do what I did played with doses on my own till I felt close to human.

Just saw my trt doc. He wants to try upping my synthroid to 200mcgs for a few weeks and see what happens. He said if I still feel like shit he'll supplement me with t3 or switch to armour if I want...so we'll see how it goes...thanks for your info. Its nice to know there is someone else like me out there :) (not saying im glad you have/had thryoid cancer though)

Interesting thread.

I had blood drawn last week and am going to the doc for the results today.

Makes me wonder how my thyroid levels will turn out.

I'm on prescribed T3 (naturally-derived), at 75 mcg/day. That's due to a medical problem though. I'll be on that same dose most likely lifelong, unless they come up with some kind of a cure for aldosteronism besides a complicated and seldom-successful surgery on the adrenal gland.

My STRONG advice is to treat it very carefully, and only if a doctor says you need it. It's so critical as to the dose, that you have to start on a very low dose, and have repeated blood tests and heart workups until the T3/T4 levels are balanced correctly. If not balanced, it can cause a heart attack, as well as permanent damage to the endocrine system.

ive used t3 many times.Thyroid problems are overstated on these bb forums and often parroted by people that never experienced them.Unless you abuse or use t3 incorrectly, you should be fine .Key is to cycle properly

I've got thyroid issues, but I doubt it's from juice abuse. I have a family history of it. My brother and mother have hypothyroidism which is underacting. Hyper can be dangerous, but hypo is life changing. It's like driving a bugatti and the suddenly your in a low gear box truck. Your life becomes that of a tortoise. Sluggish. Physically and mentally. From my experience, I firmly believe that it was induced by high sodium intake, my bro and I were Pepsi generation kids and ate fast food several times a week for decades. Sodium, iodine ruin the thyroid gland.

I've never had problems with 4 week cycles of t3 - 25/50/50/25. I only had problems with combining it with ECA. I'd choose t3 over clen any day.

The shutdown arguments are extremely overblown for sensible users. It's the same debate for people who use hydrocortisone for adrenal insufficiency. If you keep it at about 20mg / day you're fine. I've been doing this for years. Doctors would have you think taking low dose hormones, whether t3 or adrenal hormones, spells doom; but that kind of thinking is bound to the notion that their use is only appropriate for those with medically recognised conditions. I'm not interested in the medical model by and large, and am happy to educate myself and self medicate in informed ways.

i agree, t3 effects on tyroid shutdown. With educated use, you should be fine. But i dont use t3 unless im on a aas cycle, it can eat away at your muscle. Its catabolic. I will say that much about it

I have used it a couple times and didn't notice anything bad after i was done, not enough exp to vote though IMO

I used T3 @ 150 mcgs/day and did great with it. Came off and had bloods four weeks later (closer to 3.5) and was in good shape. My liver levels were a little high though... They said drink a bit less soda so it was not all that bad.

I'm on a Clen and T3 Cycle right now, just finished the clen after 2 weeks now i'm gonna finish my 3rd week of 75mcg T3, week 4 is also going to be 75mcg of T3 ed. So far i don't have any problems with the T3, and when people said it would eat out your muscle away without any AAS and that it would make you loose fat instantly bla bla bla and so on... they're wrong. You stil have to have a good diet and workout plan, and right now i'm l'm loosing around 0.5-1kg per week which i consider very good. So i don't think you have to be afraid to use T3, just don't abuse it. cheers

iv had people tell me they saw muscle loss. did you keep protein intake very high? do you mind an example of diet for day?
i tried it at low dose, but was considering 50mcg ed with next clen run. (only did 25mcg before)

The danger of shutting down your thyroid or doing permanent damage is virtually non existent. There are patients that were on t3 for years and after ceasing use they resumed full normal thyroid function within weeks (greer et al)
I do prefer to use it while on anabolics as it def makes you flat.
IMO T3 is great at 50-75mcg/day. It boosts fat loss significantly with almost zero adverse sides for most.

For people born in the 70s one of the main admitted causes of thyroid issues is the nuclear testing near dairy farms causeed slightly irradiated milk which small kids were very susceptible to.
Also Iodine supports thyroid function.
