Thunder Arms

Okay questions for all the guys with big arms out there.

I have decent arm size, not as big as I want them, but who does.

So I'm reading FLEX magazine (before I get slammed, I know the mazazine is a joke) but I came across an article by Kevin Levrone (and yes I know he's chemically inhanced) but here is his thoughts on how to get big arms

"You don’t have to train arms every day, but at least hit ’em as hard as you can twice a week. Three sessions are even better. I’m aware that most of the Mr. Olympia competitors have bought into the current trend of working each bodypart only once a week, but all of them except Ronnie Coleman finished behind me at the 2000 Mr. Olympia. By the way, Ronnie does biceps at least twice a week. "

Basically his entire article is bust your arms with as much weight as possable, as many time a week as you can. I'll even post the URL at the end of this post. I just want your guys ideas to this.

Thanks

You may have to copy and paste the web address as it's to long for it to Automatically parse the URL

OK FIRST YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND AS YOU QUOTED THEY ARE CHEMICALLY INHANCED SO THEREFORE TAKING ADVICE FROM THEM MEANS ABSOLUTELY SHIT. SO IF YOUR TAKING JUICE YOU MUSCLE REPAIR FASTER THAN NORMAL SO THERE FORE THEY CAN WORK ARMS 3 TIMES A WEAK AND WONT BE OVERTRAINING BUT FOR SOMEONE LIKE YOU (ASSUMING YOUR NOT CHEMICALLY INHANCED AND EVEN IF YOU ARE ITS NOT TO THE EXTENT OF THEM) WORKING THEM ONCE A WEEK AT A HIGH INTENSITY AND GOOD FORM SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT.;)

No I'm not "CHEMICALLY INHANCED", I just wanted everyones opinions.

I just want good solid arms, and have been working them hard once a week for a while. I'm making gains, I just wondered if there was any truth to his article if you weren't engineered by Joe Weider.

Try doing them twice a week. Maybe do a low volume one day and a high volume on another. Or do them once a week and go balls to the wall crazy. Or don't hardly do them at all: maybe throw a few sets in on back and chest day. Bottom line: Find what works for you! Keep track of your progress with a journal(record sets, weight, reps, even measurements) and see which way offers you the best results. THat's the only way you'll know for sure what WORKS FOR YOU.

Ditto dude.....

Find what works for you and not Coleman.......

I wanted size, tried different things, and found that Hammer curls of all things made my arms grow! For me......
Others may not even do them.

good luck bro

I agree with experimenting on your own. Try out all sorts of different methods, new exercises, different philosophies on reps/sets schemes, etc. Everyone is different and everyone's bodies progress and react differently to all these things.

Here's something you might want to try out: doing negative concentration curls. You can do negative training with pretty much any exercise but its a lot easier doing arms because you can bring your arm back to the beginning of the lift with your other arm without the need of a spotter. Its also good for your ego because you can do negatives with about 125% of what you normally use. Basically it involves doing regular concentration curls but using your other arm to get to the top (you're not going to be able to lift the heavier weight with your one arm), and then just slowly let your arm down and feel the burn. :D

Helped shock my bis a bit and stimulated some new growth. Be careful not to overuse negatives though, you can easily overtrain.

It will depend on your current training experience, genetics, diet, and AAS usage but...

I would never go over 6 sets (max!) for either bi's or tri's. It's just pointless. Additionally, if you're doing plenty of pressing exercises for chest and delts and plenty of pulling exercises for your back, it's my opinion that once a week for arm training is sufficient for hypertrophy considering nutritional intake is adequate.

Of course, you can always periodize or specialize your routine for arms so you would be hitting them more than once per week but that should, by its nature, only be over a short period of time.

I agree with the genetic king
What is your arm workout consist of now? If you work everything else out hard during the week your arms are already getting plenty of work in. Train them hard once a week and they will grow with everything else.

Yeah my current routine is one day a week, Back and Bi's. I've been on this routine for about 5 weeks and plan on switching it up soon.

My Bi routine right now contist of

DB Curls 4 X6 45
BB Curls 4X6 95
Preachers 4X8 70
Hammer 4X8 30

Like I said I'm makeing gains, but I was jsut interested in seeing if anyone thought that by hitting them twice a week would be good or bad.
