Ok, conservative types, what's positive about the PATRIOT act?

It has Patriot in the title, it must be good.

I know one man who was counting on that...

um....congress was given only one evening to review the 25,000 pages the new law was written on....thereby preventing them from screwing it up..????

That makes both rep. and dems. in congress contemptable idiots. You dont have time? You extend the time.

But the question still stands, neo-con types, what is GOOD for america about this USA PATRIOT ACT?

It was pushed through quickly. Happened right after 9/11 so nobody would dare challenge an act called "patriotic"

I am far from a neo-con......well maybe compared to you I might be considered conservative . I have to say I cannot stand the patriot act, it is a violation of civil liberties and will no doubt be (or has been) used for enforcement other than terrorism. But, if one had to look at the bright side it does allow the FBI-CIA to share info on persons that *might* be terrorist. It also give the FBI greater authority to investigate people that might try to do harm to a large number of people. The problem being that all their new power would not have stopped 9/11, and the government has proven time and time again it cannot be trusted this much power. *Secret* courts really do not fit into our system.
Are any of the major players running for the dem nomination talkiing about repealing it? If they are I have not heard it mentioned. You can blame Ashcroft all you want, but I do not remember a large out cry from liberals in congress when this was passed.

It allows teh US to not rely on the UK to gather intel on her citizens.

The less other countries know, the better.

With Karma like that?!!? No chance, viking boy.

I think it`s all part of a plot to make Iraq have more freedom than the US.

At least it was Congress actually passing a law stopping on rights as opposed to an executive order???:D

For example,

1. The Internment of 110,000 Japanese Americans by executive order 9066.

Supreme Court Justice Tom C. Clark, who represented the Department of Justice in the "relocation," writes in the Epilogue to this book:

The truth is -- as this deplorable experience proves -- that constitutions and laws are not sufficient of themselves...Despite the uneqivocal language of the Constitution of the United States that the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, and despite the Fifth Amendment's command that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law, both of these constitutional safeguards were denied by military action under Executive Order 9066...

2. Abraham Lincoln as one of his first acts of the Civil War suspended Habeas Corpus. He adhered to his decision to suspend Habeas Corpus in spite of the Supreme Court ruling against him(Merryman) and extended his executive powers.

Oh.

Stupid shit has been done before in more savage ways, so our current brand of stupid savage shit is ok.

Nice.

I thought it was pretty obvious the triple question mark combined with a big grin was a dead give away the statement was in jest.

um, it's bad, I agree.

Butlest you beat up the conservatvies too much:

Waco and Ruby ridge

Two examples of government murdering inocent people.

Brouigh to you by Democrats. In fact, at Waco, they actually had the military involved.

Social Security Numbers - we all have a numerical ID that can be used to track us everywhere we go: brought to you by Democrats.

So is this really indicativeof anything new? I hate the Patriot Act, but laying it at the feet of conservatives (neo or otherwise) as if they invented government abuse of civil rights in the US is just plain uninformed.

wow no one gave a good enough argument to the postive aspects of the patriot act.

lmao

"one nation under god"

ehh "one nation" = new world order aka order of one. total unification through domination

lmao why is there a free mason symbol on the dollor bill?

Why is there a Star of David?

Why is there an Egyptian pyramid?

It's not an "Egyptian" pyramid; there is no link to anceint Egypt. Note that in Roman numerals it says MDCCLXXVI (1776) at the bottom of the pyramid.

The pyramid is lighted on one side and dark on the other to represent the sun rising on the new nation. It is uncapped because the nation was not yet finsihed". The all seeing eye is an ancient symbol for divinity; as that is part of teh seal of the United States, it was designed to represent that with God's help, this undertaking could be successful.

The star of David is 13 stars, representing the original 13 colonies, but do you know why it is in that formation?

You guys need some fucking glasses.

Those are 5 pointed, not 6 pointed.

LOL.

Look again, sir.

2Thick said:

I am looking at it right now. They are 5 pointed.
I would recommend glasses. ASAP.

There are 13 stars. What shape are they in collectively?

And why?

2Thick said:
You guys do know that human brains are programmed to see patterns in everything, right?

LOL!! I thought you were just warming up before.

There is a definite reason for it.

Nothing n the seal of the United States is random.

What does this have to do with teh Patriot Act again???

BO-DEN referenced the al seeing eye as a symbol of something incorrectly.

Stop being a toad on this post.

You guys are as nutty as this guy:

The eagle is a symbol of St. John the Evangelist, the great patron of Freemasonry. The arrows in its left talon refer to King David, a man of many wars and of much bloodshed. The olive branch in its right talon, the peaceful reign of Solomon who built the temple at Jerusalem. The 13 stars above the eagle’s head represent Jacob and his 12 sons or tribes of Israel and form the star of David which reminds a Masons of King David’s dream of building a temple which his son King Solomon finally realized. The 13 stars, in double triangular form and one in the center, are symbolical of the delivery of the children of Israel from their oppressors and their attainment to a glorious freedom. The latin inscription “E Pluribus Unum” (one composed of many) indicates brotherhood to the Masonic fraternity.

And you guys are calling me a conspiracy theorist...LOL

It's Ok not to know. The seal is well thought out. You are an uninformed buzzard on these matters, but you're entitled to not know. No one's going to make fun of you....it'll be OK.

Wanna learn something? Look up Haym Solomon.

Don;t worry, when we need a pin expert, we know who to call.
:)

Or this guy:

One of the little known symbols on the dollar bill is the Star of David, (the Jewish Star). This image can be found just above the Eagle. The reason that the thirteen colonies are arranged like the Star of David is to commemorate Chiam Soloman, an American Jew, who was responsible for the financial backing of the U.S. Revolutionary War.

KooKoo!!

If you take a one dollar bill out of your pocket and look at the back at the Eagle, the stars above the Eagle's head are in the six point Star of David to honor Jews. If you turn the Eagle upside down you will see a configuration in the likeness of a Menorah....both at the insistence of George Washington who said we should never forget the Jewish people and what they have done in the interest of America.

It's a littel more complex than that.

Solomon did get a Congressional commendation for his actions...though I sure you knew that.

(ha!)

How about this explanation? Believe this one, too?

On the opposite side of the seal is a star cluster over the eagle. The star cluster is the Star of David, and if you count the outer points they are six and there are six inner points and there are six inner flat surfaces. Again you have 666. One man did a lot of research on this and found that this star did not come from David at all, but from Egypt, and was introduced to the nation of Israel by King Solomon when he fell into great sin. If you remove the two horizontal bars from this symbol and put a "G" in the center you will have the Free Masons symbol!

So there has been no progress in societies over 2000 years? You're just whining now.

note: take a good look at the AOL symbol looks remarkably like the all seeing eye on the bill? right?

Also includes the letters "A", "O", and "L". Crazy, huh?

Actually did not exist until Christianity. But that's another thread.
