These Guys Are Pretty Good - talk about goosebumps

That is actually "The New Yardbirds" not LZ. Trust me........and the song at that time was called "I'm Confused". I have about 3 hours of film that was shot in those 2 days........and a version of that with Beck on lead......filmed at the same time. I also own the handwritten 2nd arrangement of "I'm Confused", as well as the original hand written lyrics to "Ramble On" and "Black Dog". I also own the guitar Jeff Beck played during those days of filming, and the hand written editing notes for the first cutting of "Song Remains The Same".......but I'm just a minor Zep fan.....ask me about my Beck collection.... Or my Hunter S. Thompson collection......

You can open up your own Hardrock Cafe lol.

The sad thing is if you compare their reunion performances to their "song remains the same" film/tours or the old BBC films. they sound like a bad zepp cover band. plant cant hit the high notes and looks like somebodies grandma, and page struggles and often misses the complicated stuff (but he's still better than 99% of guitarists playing in label bands today) :(

Page was always just a very good journeyman rock guitarist. Nothing extrordinary and certainly no match for Beck or Clapton who he basically replaced. He used feedback to cover his technical weaknesses. His blues riffs on aucustic have always been sub-par and he never really expanded his rep post HOTH. But that's just my uninformed opinion :)
Here's something fun http://ia200013.eu.archive.org/2/au..._and_Memphis_Minnie-When_the_Levee_Breaks.mp3
Probably 20% of old zep clips or things like that link you find on-line come from my archives.

On page, to mere guitar mortals like myself, he seems alot better than sub-par lol. But technicals aside, the guy was obviously a creative & prolific composer bordering on genius, basically inventing and popularizing a genre' of music. If you broke most of those songs today, they'd still become hits. and plants voice still gives me goosebumps if I hear a zep song after not hearing one for awhile.

btw what is your connection to the music industry mystery guest?

are you a current/former musician/tech/engineer/fan extrodinaire?

Ever heard the original version of "I'm Confused" by Jake Holmes?
