The reason for slower gains...?

High-Jacked

New member
I started my first cycle 6 weeks ago. I started naturally at 5'7" 190 lbs. After 6 weeks of test enanthate I have gained a solid 5 pounds, no bloating ( as a result of 20mg nolva ed). I was thinking that the reason I haven't gained much is because I was well developed before I started my cycle. The lagging muscle groups that needed more attention such as calves, chest and back seemed to have gotten more muscle density and mass, but the scale doesn't really show it. I look bigger and thicker, and people have commented that I look like I put on size, but I am currently at an average 195lbs, up 5lbs from pre cycle.
It just blows my mind how begginer seem to take steroids and grow like a weed, and here I am eating 4000 calories a day, sleeping 10 hours a day with naps, lifting staggering weight with form, and my gains come way slower. Maybe it is just that I have debated taking AAS for the past 5 years of lifting, so I made them seem like the miracle drug, when in reality it will only give you permanent results if you turn the intensity up from your current workout 10 fold.
I am by no means complaining, I can gain naturally very well, and even better now that I am on AAS, it just seems like people hear say they gain 20 lbs off a cycle of test..... so what am I doing wrong?

i'm sorry but 5 pounds in 6 weeks doesnt sound right for test enanthate cycle.

how many mg's a week?
manufacturer?

Here is my daily eating schedule, I eat the exact way every day, maybe I need more variety?

8 a.m 10 egg white
1 cup oatmeal w/water
multi vit/vit C,B,A/ Calcium / vanady sulfate

10am 40 grams whey
2 servings steamed broccoli

1 pm 1/2 lbs 93% lean hamburg grilled
1 large sweet potatoe
Vit C, B12/ calcium

5pm 6 eggwhites
1/2 c oatmeal
Vit A / Magnesium/ zinc

7pm 40 grams whey post workout

8pm 16oz grilled chicken
3 servings of pasta whole wheat (120 g carbs)

10:30pm (before bed) 16oz chicken breast grilled
2 servings broccoli
mag/zinc/ vit b

middle of the night 40 grams whey shake

I drink 1.5 gallons of water spread through out the day

I sleep 7-8 hours at night, average of 1hour nap before the gym

I train 6 days a weeks with one day off

I do an average of 15-20 sets per musclegroup

Reps are in the 6-10 range

I am making gains, but I would assume after 3 years of this strict regime and 5 years BB I would be competition ready. I can't seem to get my arms to grow, or my inner chest, cand calves.

I listed all this information so if you want to give me advice, you have some information of my daily routine and workout style. ALL comments are appreciated, if you want to flame, go ahead I don't give a sh*t, doesn't mean anything when you insult someone through the internet. Thanks for reading this.;)

I guess I hear people posting that they gained 15- 20 lbs in 10 weeks, so I expect with my strict diet/training I would gain as much. Maybe they are full of water?

I am using Mexi-Pharm Test enanthate at 300mg every 4 days.
ALong with Liquid Nolva at 20mg per day

if your looking to put on size your not eating enough carbs......eat some brown rice or swt pot in place of the broccoli.....broc is like eating neg cals....it takes your body more cals to process it than what's actually in it.....also spread your prot out....16 oz of chicken breast (precooked) is 100 grams of prot, way to much at one sitting.....

So I should limit to an 8oz breast of chicken, and then another 8oz an hour or so later? Also, do you find that it makes a difference when you add in a greater variety of foods to your diet? It is just kind of tough for me, I am 21 and live alone so I get by with my limited cooking skill, so normally my diet is pretty regime. I am trying to maintain my current size but lose some fat to be around 6- 7% bf, currently I am around 8-9%. It seems that when I try to bulk, I never follow through because I get disgusted looking at myself, and when I try and diet down, my BF remains the same and I lose muscle...

i know that is my problem....calories....but i just cannot keep consistant with it. maybe 4-5 days a week i get enough....but them there are the just barely above maintenance days where i don't eat enough. its tough. i make sure i get my protein at least, but calories are hard to pound down at time. and weight gainers full of sugar make me fat.

I don't think a variety is that important....if you want to eat only rice throughout the day or sweet potato as your carbs as long as you eat enough you should be fine....as for the chicken and protein......cut the serving in half at your 8pm and 1030pm meal.....at 8 am go with 6 whites, i yellow, and 1/2 cup cottager cheese......same with 5 pm (and bump the oatmeal to a cup)....get rid of the broccoli at 10am and add rice or swt potato.....add some juice to your post workout shake......add a piece of fruit here and there if you get hungry....if you do all that you should put on some solid size.....there's nothing better than clean calories......

Something isn't right here.

You should be gaining a bit more. Either your juice is fake, underdosed, or you aren't taking enough... or you have a digestive enzyme problem.

Some guys can eat protein all day and get no nitrogen benefit. Why? Because they don't have the proper digestive enzymes to break down the proteins.

My big guess, though, is you have limp juice.

I agree with SG, at 300mg e4d, there's probably something wrong with the gear.

But I also think you could be overtraining. Man 6 days on and 1 day off is just too much bro. Try easing up a bit to 2 on, 1 off, 2 on and 2 off.

I'm sure there's pro's that know how to train 6/1 but I doubt most of us have the know-how to do that properly so as to avoid overtraining.

But make no mistake, you will not make big gains while overtraining.

You took the words out of my mouth 40. I was just thinking the same thing.

Your diet is not THAT BAD, and you seem to be getting plenty of rest. With that diet, and the gear dosage, you should be growing more. When things are stagnant like in your situation, ALWAYS, change things around until you get results, thats the only way to find out what the problem is.

I would start with your training also. 6 days a week is overkill IMO, especially if this is how you were training before juicing. I always start a new program when I start a new cycle just for the extra shock/change to your muscles (you want to hit every variable possible). Also, 15-20 sets per muscle group?, I think that you are going overboard. Yes overtraining will hinder your gains. Change your routine around, maybe give the DC training regimine or the HST training style a shot, you can find more info on the training board. I trained 5 days/wk before starting my cycle, and as soon as I started, I switched my training to superset training, with 2 days (upper body and lower body), with 2 different workouts for each. So I go 2 days on (upper, then lower) then 1 day off. Been having great results. I am only 10 days into my cycle and I have gained more than you (could be the dbol though hehehehe).

If this is still not fixing things, then up your calories. Eat like there is no tommorow, as a matter of fact, try doing both (changing workout, and upping cals). Get your carbs nice and early in the day, and taper off with them into the evening. If you have no success by changing these variables then I am going to guess that your gear is bunk, or you may need a higher doseage, or through a more anabolic in with the mix like some EQ. Anyways, the point being that you have to change something to find out what is wrong. 5 weeks in you should have a little more than that.

I feel as though the gear is legit, since I am strong as a bull, compared to the start of my cycle, and my recovery time is really increases, as well as the intense pumps and constant sex drive. However, I think some great points were brought up, mainly with me overtraining and my diet. I need to add some simple carbs with my post workout shake and also break my protein up, and eat more complex clean carbs. Overtraining, that is another problem, I HATE not training, I always feel the need to get to the gym and unleash the animal in me! I will start taking another day off so I will train 3 on, 1 off, 2 on , 1 off, 3 on etc....

As far as the Mexipharm, I am happy with it, but I try not to really on the gear for results, I try and forget I am even taking it and just train hard, otherwise mentally I become depedant on it. But with the MP test, my dumbell chest press went from the 100's for 10 reps to the 110s for 10 reps, shoulder dumbell press from 70's for 8 reps to 85's for 8 reps, Biceps are up a good 20-30lbs and squats went from 315 for 10 reps , to 335 for 10 reps, so it is working, AND I look a LOT thicker, but I am just afraid that post cycle the swole look will disiapate and I will be left with minimal gains.

So I am turning up the intensity for the last 3- 4 weeks to get some solid gains

Who cares about the scale! Weighing alot is just an ego boost. Care more about the quality of your body composition. You meigh have only gained 5lbs but with a somewhat restricted diet like yours you may have shed some fat and gained muscle at the same time. If your making good quality noticeable gains who cares what the scale says? I'm sure that if you implemented some of the suggestions you'll be happier.

I am thinking that there is trouble brewing with the gear.
Although I think more carbs would have helped with gains, I still think you should have gained more than 5 pounds.

Has your bf% changed?

Agree with Dial Tone. I would rather put on 6 ponds of quality mass than fat and water.

You say that you have trained seriously for 5 years, chances are your body is already well developed,s opposed to many people that do a first cycle with under 6 months of training under them. Of course they are gonna blow up (I would like to see them 6 months after there cycle)

You are on 300mgs/4days, this is a good cycle. The nolv. is keeping your water off, and chances are you are not one bit bloated. You are also replacing fat with muscle. so if you look good, and people are telling you that you look good screw the scale. numbers are numbers and dont mean shit if ou cant back them.

Bro my first cycle was a Enthate only cycle(Brovel T-2) for 8 weeks and it took me 8 weeks to realize the shit was bunk. But throughout the 8 weeks I thought I was juicing so I was working my ass off eating and lifting and put on a solid 5-7 pounds naturally. Could be what your doing now.

Great advices bro's, I do think that I have put on 5 quality pounds of "meat". I have hardened up a bit and am not holding any water because of the Nolva. Maybe I am just reading other peoples results and not realizing that they are gaining fat and water weight along with the muscle.
As far as the gear is concerned, I finished up the Mexi-Pharm and will be replacing that with Testiviron 250 enanthate so I will see if there is a noticeable difference in gains.

Eat more, and try a different training routine... You need to shock the muscle and fuelk themy with complex carbs. Red meat will help, shit just eat your ass off

Go for quality not quanity! My first cycle was 400mg per week of Test Cyp. Mexican shit. I ate anything and every thing. I went from 170 to 195. I had joint pain and quit lifting towards the end of my cycle. BIG MISTAKE! I lost every thing. Just getting back into training and came across some "pinks" and have been running them at 25mg daily for the last 3 weeks. I've been training a lot different. I only train 3 days a week hitting shoulders, chest, tries and bis on Monday. Wednesday, I hit back and on Friday I hit legs. I do one really heavy set for every excercise. I use the same warm up routine every exercise, so that I have a way of gauging myself. My diet is clean, but I do eat 2 double cheese burgers a day (for calories). I have only gained 5 pounds but look like I have gained 15 lean pounds. I am starting to find out that it really does not matter what you eat. As long as your protein is up and the calories are there. If I want to diet I take out the double cheese burgers and fall below maintence. If I want to grow bigger I add calories. Nevertheless, it comes with fat and some water bloat. It's not that hard as long as you get stronger your gains will come. Anyone can eat a shit load and grow...ANYONE! Don't overtrain and keep an eye on what you eat. GO BY LOOKS!

Three words: MORE RED MEAT.

I usually eat about 5/8 lb a day of lean beef, normally around 1 pm. I try to avoid red meat in the evening because I find it makes me gain fat after 3 weeks of "late night red meat eating".

I also am adding in 2 protein bars throughout the day which is good for about 500 calories and they taste great to!
