The REAL 800 STORY

Well..........IT'S TRUE!!!!!!!! Except one thing...it was 800.5, that extra .5 is a lot when you're up there, so we are proud as hell of Ryan!!!!! We really didn't know if he had it since we competed last week, but he really pulled it off and looks to still have MORE in him!!! I have the video of it and am sending it to House of Pain and Rick Brewer will post it on his web site soon.

I got first place again and set a PR from last week, so both of us came away winners.

Thank you for all of your support last week....it's very much appreciated.

Melissa

It was a pleasure to meet Ryan and Melissa. The lift was strong, there was a good pause, and it was fully locked out. I am sure there will be controversary from the haters on goheavy, but I am here to tell you it was a good lift.

Long story short, it was a great meet (besides my puking all night before). Here is a link to the 800 video.

I should have a chance to do a little write-up of the meet tomorrow.

Take care.

Great lifting you guys!

800..........The only word is AWESOME. I was hoping you would be the first!!! Congrats!!! I can't wait to see your training program write up. Any idea where it might be yet?

Irish, puking all night the night before.....Sounds like fun!!!

hahaha.... well... i wish it was from drinking too much but alas, it was a stomach flu.

I am driving through nightmare traffic trying to get to portland, when my wife calls and tells me my little girl is puking all over the place at home. my stomach was already feeling not so great, but i chalked it up to pre-lifting nerves. i then began to wonder.

well, i barely manage to choke down a steak dinner at 8pm, and now I know something is funky. I can *always* eat bloody meat no matter how sick i am feeling.

so, the night just gets worse from there. i had to run out of a strip joint puking at 1am. it was horrifying and i think i gave the strippers some confidence problems.

oh well.... at least i didnt lift till 12pm. i *almost* bagged it when i could only put down half my breakfast, but watching big RyanK stomp around down there brought me up a little even though my warmups felt slow.

Long story short, I managed to hit 2 prs for myself (1 in the bench and 1 in the deadlift) and leave a little in the tank for the big meet in alberta. check my journal.

peace.

First off CONGRATS to RK...UNBELIEVABLE.

IRISH...how did the box squat experiment work for Squats. I know you didn't mention a PR....but how was depth? Any probs?

it was a WABDL meet. no squatting :)

i will let you know in 3 weeks in calgary.

Damn...how did I miss that??! Yeah...let us all know how the "experiment" works out.

Thanks for posting the video Irish, thats awesome!!! Damn good job Mr K, and good job to you to Mrs K on the Pr's.

Sorry Irish, I meant to give congrats to you on your Prs in bench and deadlift.

First off ONCE AGAIN and glad we got the real story WAY TO GO RYAN on that 800 damn I wonder how 800 feels. I think i'ma do it for a static hold tomm after my DE bench (then I woke up).

Irish good job on the PRs bro I thought u were just goin to help out not compete, how bout some numbers

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Kennelly and IrishPower for their incredible lifting. Thanks to IrishPower for posting the video of the record breaking attempt. It was awesome!

Congratulations Ryan. That was one hell of a clean bench. What makes me even more sad is that you look like you had some more in you. I don't know whether you have motivated or depressed me. I was hoping for something good in September, but now anything under 800lbs. is just child's play. Once again, outstanding lift.

Congratulations Melissa for you pr and 1st place. Nice job.

Excellent job indeed!! I am motivated! I cannot believe the amount of power he (you) whoever in the Kennelly house is reading this , has!! Its mind boggling to say the least.

Cant wait to see what you (both) do in Oct.

damn!!!

anybody know how much he weighs? It would be interesting to see a bench to bodyweight ratio...prolly pushing close to 3x his bodyweight.

cheers

Sean

Ryan's 800.5 lb bench press

I was at the WABDL Nationals in Houston, Texas on July 26/27th and watched Ryan just barely miss 801.5 lb, he blew up easily 749 lbs. I knew he would get it in Portland this past weekend. Ryan is one of a kind, he will post even higher numbers in the coming months and years. Ryan is King of the Bench Press and I am glad to say I know him and his wife Melissa.

congratulations to the both of you.

mrs kennely, your doing great... 125 @ 132 is pretty respectable considering you've been lifting for a short time... i remember when i was struggling w/ 95 lbs..... those were the days.
