to celebrate halloween elite style I'm holding the '08 episode of the dead pool early
rules
pick a person of somewhat notoriety to die in 2008
first to die wins the pot except
they have to die in 2008,not 2007

so by holding the contest early you can make your selection early with the caveat that if your selection dies in 2007 you're shit out of luck

this will throw a twist into selecting the obvious geriatics on the "short list"

1 selection per user
if your selection dies in 2007 then you can reselect but obviously you can't chose from a taken choice

How about "EF's Banned pool for 2008"

He could go way early. I would pick something a bit longer term.

It wasn't really the karma I enjoyed taking so much, it was your self esteem.
Hey plumb smuggler, I beat you a lot worse the week before, so we are tied now. This week will be MY victory dance.

Might want to consider a avatar change. You should be embarrassed.

Unlike most bandwagon fans, I have been through alot worse than this season so far. Carson's first year we started 2-5 and finished 8-8. I'm 7-9 this year.

Damn I'm stupid, and damn you PeterProud!

I'm going with an obscure choice. I've absolutely no reasoning behind my choice, it was just a name which popped into my head, Cicely Tyson.

Damn it man, that was my pic last year, and was going to be mine again. Oh, well.

How about, the king of the dead pool, Abe Vigoda.

Osama Bin Laden.....And im serious

last year's pool went around 5-6 months before we had a "winner"
and then watch like 5 selections die in 07

btw I'm adding a rule clarification
if your selection dies in 07 you can chose again but you have to wait until the first day and after of 08

Decisions, decisions, I was going to pick Bob Dole - smokers hardly live to his age, but then he seems pretty chipper.

b0und (still thinking)

On Wednesday, May 16, 2007, it was reported that a malignant polyp was found in the area where Fawcett had been treated for the initial cancer. Doctors contemplated whether to implant a radiation seeder (which differs from conventional radiation), and is used to treat other types of cancer, but decided against it and planned to pursue aggressive conventional treatment. Fawcett, however, rejected the notion of more chemotherapy and radiation, which she had not handled well previously and chose to travel to Germany (with O'Neal) for an experimental cancer treatment

this saddens me
she was my childhood favorite
I spotted her as ms texas in some obscure movie before she got famous

had about a dozen of her posters on my teen walls
the original (pictured above)

My crystal ball tells me Mikhail Gorbachev.. I relaxed my mind and that name popped into my head.

1934: An employee of a New York newspaper organises what may have been the world's first example of what we would now recognise as a dead pool. He writes the names of 100 famous people on individual slips of paper, places them into a hat, and persuades 100 of his colleagues to each draw a slip and throw $1 per week into a 'winner takes all' pot from then until one of the celebrities dies. Amazingly, the competition ends in a dead heat (pardon the pun!) when two of the chosen celebs - aviation pioneer Wiley Post and comedian Will Rogers - both die in the same plane crash in Alaska in August 1935. The two winners receive about $3,500 apiece - the price of a large suburban family home.

I'm selecting
O'Toole, Peter

and yes I can win my own competition

Hmm, reminds me of Steve McQueen's Laetrille experiment in Mexico.

I have under 100,000 in karma.

You want a list of all of the players and who they picked? I can do that. Let me know and I will get the thread running and I will track this and add them. Also I can edit the list so all of the names and picks are in the first entry. That way it is easy reading.

It really doesn't matter because Liz Taylor needs to die and I'll wack the bitch on Jan 1st if needed.
