OH ONE MORE THING.. do you thing the shows really are interested in the over 50 year olds?? what r ur thoughts??

When you say "the shows" do you mean are the Masters catogories a "draw" from the point of view of ticket sales? Screw 'em. Here's the reality -- there is very limited commercial opportunity for FBBs. The "figure" category has opportunity in the "fitness model" profession, however you will find constantly that the number of "Figure" competitors will far outweigh the sum of all men & women BBs AND fitness competitors at any given show.

Other than at the top level of competition (national, large regional) its more what the people get out of doign the show, not what the show gets out of the people.

...if that makes any sense. If this is your first show, then its definitely more what you get out of it. For so many people, the act of doing a show is an act of validation, personal pride in their goals and simply overcoming personal fears / challenges in a big way. At age 35, gettign on stage after being an extra 10-15 lbs overweight my whole life, was a justification to myself, that yea, I'm not a fatty and I dont' need to pull down my self-confidence because my self image is of a fatty, and also getting on stage to take on my general shyness & fear of attention.

If you decide to really pursue competition on a "regular" basis, there's almost no real reason you can't compete in the "Open" category w/ all the others & totally ignore the fact that you are a certain age.
