The boy's going in for another back surgery soon. Those of you who remember him, let's wish him some good luck. :)

Best of luck bro. Will talk to you soon.

Good luck man!!!!

You need a Reverse Hyper (and lots of various pain killers) for Christmas!!!!

good luck bro, we're all pulling for you

good luck bro:)

Thaibox, I am really glad to see you back here posting, you have always been a great bro and have made me see things from a point of view I would never have thought of myself, and got me into grip training, imo you would make a great mod for this board.

thanks tuc, its bros like you that keep me on this board.:)

good, glad you appreciate the appreciation lol, have you got the number 3 yet? if so how is the number 4, I want to get one just to see what it is like, also what other makes of grippers have ya got.

I have 3 #3's. One is filed down for overcrushes. I have 1 #4 that I use for negatives...damn things a brick:). I have a couple of Tetting's grippers that I really like. One is between #3 and #4, so I can do negatives with a gripper heavier than #3, but it doesn't brake my back to close it like a #4.

damn man you got a strong grip, reckon you'll ever get the number 4? what other grip stuff have you got/ do you do? I'm thinking of getting into nail bending, ever done any of that?

Tetting's Grippers? More info!!!

I need something between a 1 and 2 and a 2 and 3.

I don't think I'll never close the numer 4. That thing is beyond me.

I'm really into bending nails. I make weekly trips to home depot just to wander the nail isle. I buy a lot of HRS at diffierent sizes and cut my own lengths. I also take 4' HRS and bend them up into "iron bonsai trees" ala Brookfield.

I do a lot of pinch work. I have the ironmind hub and a bunch of homemade blocks with eye hooks. I haven't pinched 2 45's yet, but I'm trying to get there.

I bought/made a lot of thick bar stuff. My thickest is around 3.5".

I bought some cylindrical chunks of steel from a steel yard that are very close to York blobs. Since I can't find York DB's around here, these do the job pretty well.

What have you been doing for nails so far?

b-fold...Tetting's grippers are great. You can call him personally and he'll even customize them for you for an extra $10. He'll set the handles higher or lower for you. He loves to talk grip. Good guy.

If you want his contact info, I'll pm it to you.

I trim them with clippers mostly...every 5-6 weeks.

Oh yeah, I forgot levering. I have an 8lb and 10lb sledge, and some homemade sledge type things.

I've been doing a forced adaptation program specifically for grippers, so I haven't been able to do anything else very much the last few weeks which sucks. But, after taking a couple days off the program and testing my strentgh, I slammed the #3 like the trainer and held it for nearly 10 seconds. The program, and the results are both pretty cool, but I want to finish it up and get back to overall grip training.

lol b fold, all that I have done for nail bending so far is think about it and look at pictures of others doing it lol, but am gonna get into it (I heard gavin holle bent an ironmind red), do you have any links for sites other than ironmind that do grippers? I would love to have a really good selection. Also do you find that two different ironmind grippers of the same number vary in difficulty, if so to what degree.

HECK YEAH I'm interested!!!!

b-fold, I prefer I little higher volume when doing nails. Usually every week or 2. :)

Tuc, the ironminds do vary. I think there's something like a 20 lb difference, high or low. That's why people buy multiple grippers sometimes...hoping to get a lighter #3 or #4 to certify on. I bought extra number 3's for filing down at different depths, but I also kinda hoped the other two I bought were going to be a little lighter, but my first one was the lightest.

Go to a decent hardware store and find some nails you can bend without a ton of effort, and buy a big box of them(they're cheap). Before you get through the box, you'll have figured out decent bending technique and you'll be ready for harder ones.
Then, go get a box of harder nails. While you're there buy a 40d and a 60d just to have around as motivation.:)

Let me put a couple of links together, I'll get back to you.

b-fold, here's Tetting's "Beefbuilder" grippers compared to COC's based on spring size(the accurate measure of difficulty)

.225 BB Beginner
.225 COC T

.235 COC #1
.235 BB Advanced

.250 BB Super Advanced

.260 BB Master
.260 COC #2

.275 BB Super Master

.281 COC #3
.281 BB Grand Master

.293 BB Elite

.306 BB Super Elite

.312 COC #4
.312 BB Grand Elite

.331 BB World Class

.345 BB Galaxy

.362 BB Super Galaxy

.375 BB Grand Galaxy
You may want to get the super advanced, and super master.

Yes, there are 4 grippers harder than the #4! I'm not sure if he's making the hardest 3 yet or not.

Check your pm for Tetting's info bro

A discectomy on L5s1 this time...I think that's what my surgeon wants to do.
An L5 discectomy? Thats no joke, you must have shattered the body of your vertebra with compression of your cord to have that kind of surgery right? What kind of mobility will you retain after the prosthetic disk is inserted?

Its basically removal of the largest vertebra in your back, the one immediately superior to the sacrum and the one that bears the most weight. That bone is one big fucker, it takes a lot to damage it, thats why I'm curious as to what happened.

Its from years of thinking I was tougher than I really was.

This procedure use to be much more serious warpath. Also, although there is damage to the vertebrae, the surgery deals primarily with the disc(no bone removal). So, its not too bad.
