Testosterone Therapy Needed?

MikeMartial

New member
Shooting a question out there for anyone:

Has anyone here been treated with supplemental testosterone for T-levels that are low, but in the "normal" range? I'm also 31, so I wouldn't be the typical patient for test therapy. No previous cycles of AAS, used only OTC stuff, no prohormones. Creatine, Trib, etc etc.

Reason I'm asking is that I've had two free-testosterone tests over the last two years, the first normal, but in the low end (and I was actively weightlifting at the time), and the second also normal, but much lower than the first. The tests were about a year apart.

Long story short, I'm planning on making another apt. with my physician, and talking to him about Test therapy. Over the past two years I've developed:
1) Depression
2) ED
3) Fatigue+++
4) Irritability and mood swings
5) Frequent colds and flu
6) Insomnia

And, recently, weight loss of about 15 lbs.

I'm not looking for an online dx, but opinions, and/or other guys that have been treated for the same.

Take the test at androgel.com
Get your blood tests done like so:

Total Testosterone
Bioavailable Testosterone (sometimes called “Free and Loosely Bound”)
DHT
Estradiol (specify by the Extraction Method)
LH
FSH
Prolactin
Cortisol
TSH
CBC
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
Lipid Panel
PSA (if over 40)
IGF-1 (if HGH therapy is desired)

At the one month point, I follow-up with these assays:
Total Testosterone
Bioavailable Testosterone
Estradiol (specify by the Extraction Method)
DHT (if patient is using a transdermal delivery system)
FSH
CBC
Lipid Panel
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
(if ALT/AST from above are elevated, then get a GGT)

dear mike,
you're far too young to have these serious problems.
i get the idea you feel all of them are due to low normal testosterone.
surely this isn't the case at all.
you can test your own testosterone (free, not bound or total) with saliva with ZRT kits for $60 for TWO hormones without a doctor. if you have low normal this is just not causing your problems.
if you're on a ketogenic diet as many bodybuilders are, this could be causing your problems.
yes, you should check out your dhea, pregnenolone, melatonin, T3 and T4 if you feel there is a hormone imbalance. at 31 it's doubtful this is the problem but it could be. GH is hard to measure and IGF-1 is useless here.
please read my Testoserone Is Your Friend at amazon.com.
if you see that diet might more likely be your problem please read my book Zen Macrobiotics for Americans. whole grains are the best food you can eat and many weightlifters eat meat but no whole grains.
the fact you exercise but have all these problems at 31 is not good. you may have another 50 years to go. (i'm 58 and expect another 30). yes, you should be taking sensible supplements like flax oil, beta glucan, acidophilus, vitamin E, good minerals and a few others at your age.
sincerely,
roger

You have ALL (except mood swings) the symptoms of depressed Tes levels...your levels may test on the low end...according to the medium test results, but that sounds, to me, that, for you, your levels are very low. I am a big believer in Testosterone 200 Depot...slow release injections, safe, easy, all but painless. Have your doc prescibe this (10ml bottles), give yourself 1/2 ml every 4 days and see, if after about 2 weeks, things improve. Do not count on ED being cured, but it will help if you regain a sex drive. Have your cholesterol levels check with regularity on this replacement therapy. They may increase, so start with a low card (especially potato/refined flower intake) and take a tablespoon of olive oil/flax oil per day in a shake...tasteless. That will keep any cholesterol production from plaquing.
You are certainly too low for your body. If you do the shots, use a 22 Guage needle, dose in to the back of the center of the deltoid...all but painless, and drive the needle well into the muscle...about as far as it will go, but take it easy until you learn how much muscle you have...you do not want to hit bone!

Hey let me know if you get and good info for sure, I too am in simialr boat. T levels were normal at 3.7 - normal is 3-7 so im at the bottom end of the line. im 35 and used to work out in Muay Thai, stopped for a why and heading back into it. I get teh low energy, itred alot and little belly forming. I did all the normal tests. Sugar good, chloresterol good, BP good, etc etc. just lower T. I did try 3 shots of Sustonon 250 about 15 years ago, but I cant see this playing a role.

Doctors can be nazis about prescribing test for HRT. When a patient scores in the "low-normal" range, many doctors automatically refuse to prescribe it, while others -- taking into account the broader array of symptoms -- are willing to experiment.

If you are having the typical symptoms and score "low-normal" and your doctor is resistant, you really should argue with him. There are two doctors at my HMO clinic and -- wouldn't you know? -- the female is much more agreeable to prescribing test than the male.

Hey im the same age with the same exact symptoms, but i havent had the test done. Will they do the test by request only?

I got the test done through the net and had my script for Test Cyp 3 days later and my goods that day too.
If you need the site just PM me

On another note, i have Test Cyp injections 1x/week but i was wondering if the androgel was a better alternative? Also has anyone had any luck getting this successfully submitted for insurance?

At one time my test levels dropped way low...I'm talking 005 when the normal range is around 340 for a 25 year old male. My Doctor prescribed me Clomid and HCG and I was back in the game. This was when pct was brand new and tapering off testosterone was the only logical way to come off of a cycle. I'm 31 now and boys work well.
