Testosterone replacement therapy and decreased libido?

By the way, I always find you bodybuilders to be so much nicer and more helpful than the stereotype suggests. In fact, I consistently find you to be more gracious and friendly than non-bodybuilders. I hereby conclude that the idea that testosterone makes people hateful, angry, mean-spirited, violent, sadistic, and generally douchey is a complete and total pile of horse shit for the most part.

Thanks to you all for your help and your replies.

Are you applying a cream or injecting the real thing? It reads like you have the cream, I thought that was way more expensive that injects?
If so how much and when, days and times?

The cream. It costs only $30 at my pharmacy since they prepare their own. The dosage is 150mg once a day.

I am no longer using it, though, because it was simply making things worse.

Hi pseudonym,

After doing some research on the web I came accross this article which really interested me as I to have suffered from low levels of Test for many years, and introducing Test into my body has made things a lot worse.
Im 35 year old man that has been training in the gym now for 13 years, I weigh 92kg and carry approx 11% body fat.
Ive have had a very low libido now for approx 7 years and getting all the right bloods done has shown low levels of Test and Free Test, everything else seems normal (and ive been tested for everything that you can think of)
I found Endochronoligists to be no help so I now see an Anti-Aging Doctor which seems to be determined to fix my problem,
Ive tried Dhea which did nothing
Ive tried Growth hormone which made me feel great in the gym and very energetic but did nothing for my libido,
Ive tried several different types of Test and every time I take it, I get a sudden increase of libido that lasts about a week then I drop to an all time low! and then the anger set in and I become extreamly moody. Tests show when Im on Test therapy that Test levels are high and Oestradiol levels are normal, the only thing that changes physicaly is ive notice my testes reduce in size when on TRT.
I cant work it out either can my doctor
So your not alone but if for some myrical I find an answer i will let you know

My suggestion since you can not afford tests, is to Try some Bulgarian Tribulis 80% Pure extract, I get mine at NutritionExpress.com.
I sicerely hope this is helpful, BTW you take 3 caps 20 min before you do the deed!

But if your not in the mood how do you know you will do the deed?

And the reason why new fathers’ testosterone levels decrease so rapidly will definitely surprise you.

The Northwestern study focused on the effects of fatherhood on testosterone production, and I’m warning you that the results aren’t desirable. According to the research, men’s testosterone levels decrease by 25%-35% after their baby is born. Obviously this sounds awful to those trying to pack on muscle, and the mere thought may keep you from wanting to have a child. But perhaps you’ll change your mind when I explain the reason behind the testosterone decrease.
Here's the full story:

Testosterone Levels Decrease in New Fathers - Shocking Study

Yes, these are all tests which I wished to have performed (with the exceptions of PSA and CBC; I didn't know about those), but, as I said, I don't have medical insurance. There's no way I could ever afford that. (I did have a comprehensive metabolic panel peformed, however, which showed that everything was normal, with the exception of bilirubin levels which were slightly elevated due to dehydration.)

CBC, Complete Metabolic Panel & PSA are standard tests for any blood draw in the US. All three were very likely performed whether you were aware of them or not.

The only reason I can afford testosterone cream is that the pharmacy I use mixes their own and sells it at a reasonable price of $30, far better than Androgel which is about $230 without a prescription, which I could never afford.

There are several problems with using the gel bro. Get off of it, have your doctor switch you to an injectable stat! Gel aromatizes (turns to estrogen) quicker than injectable, has a long absorption time and also has a limited affect on serum & free testosterone levels in the blood. Among. Other problems. My doc originally started me on a similar protocol. Esta No Bueno.

Luteinzing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone levels are probably normal since my testicles are of average size. At any rate, the function of these two hormones is to increase testosterone production. If my problem of diminished libido were ultimately due to low LH or FSH levels, you would expect that I could redress it through the use of testosterone (which did not happen).

My LH levels test at 0.1 and my Testes are normal size. Self exam isn't a substitute for serum levels, which as a fellow Hypogonadism patient paying out of pocket? Sucks. Balls.

What if I broke off a tiny piece of a 2.5 mg tablet. Would that have the same efficacy as anastrozle? (I was able to buy generic letrozole for $70, by the way, the cheapest of all aromatase inhibitors if I am not mistaken.)

It's very difficult or impossible to say and as stated above Letro can crash your Estrogen which is just as bad (if not worse) than too much. See if you can trade the Letro for some Arimidex and/or Aromasin.

I'm not sure what dose of gel you're taking, but when I took Androgel my T levels actually dropped after about 10 days. So I convinced the T-Doc to put me on injectables and things have been much better ever since. Although I did not want the T for Dick issues. I also found some HCG to do more for my sex drive than the T, but as the others have mentioned don't experiment too much without getting tested.

I just skimmed the thread but I saw a LOT of misinformation.

As for T levels dropping in men who had children, that's most likely to the lack of sleep.

As for a drop in libido -- any fluctuation in hormone levels can affect libido. It may take time t settle in.

As fr libido boosters, a combination of UNLEASHED and POST CYCLE can't be beat. Tribulus does not work on a lot of people but this combo works on just about everybody. Keep in mind, there are also extraneous factors with libido.
