Testosterone Levels

somewhere between 350-1000 ng/dl, different labs and different text's have varried ranges most people fall within normal range 450-900ng/dl,,i think median is in the 500-600 range..my last test was at 709 ng/dl,,have been as high as 850 years ago when i was in my late teens..if you were to get tested on three seperate occations during the same day or same week your levels can fluctuate or increase by 200ng/dl or more. testosterone is released in pulses. time of day and other nutritional and stress factors play a role(other factors as well).

The range is actually 300-1100 ng/dl for total testosterone

But there is a distinction between testosterone, and FREE testosterone levels(Which are far more imprtant)

They are two different blood tests.

Anyways, anything less than 300 ng/dl is considered low. (For total testosterone) and you're in effect hypogonadic.

The free testosterone test IMO is far more important then the total testosterone test.

LabCorp uses the range of 241 to 827 ng/dL.

A book from Life Extension Institute recommends 600-900 as a target.

My endocrinologist said at 291, I was normal and that if I was at 150, then she would treat me for hypogonadism.

From the reseach I have done hypogonadism is defined at 300 or 250 or 200, depending on the medical journal.

Most "real" anti-aging docs may treat you around 100-500 and will be using targets similar to the ones below.

Here is a chart of T verus age.

age total t (ng/dL) free t (ng/dL)
25-34 617 12.3
35-44 668 10.3
45-54 606 9.1
55-64 562 8.3
65-74 524 6.9
75-84 471 6
85-100 376 5.4
