Tennessee law shames drunken drivers

Suckers.

Ha! That's BRILLIANT!

I think that would be considered Extreme and Unusual Punishment and excessive for the crime. The courts tend to side with the law for DWI, but I think a federal judge would rule this one OUT !

should they wait till they kill someone and make them pick garbage up on the side of the road that says" i killed someone because i was a dumbass and i drove drunk"?

I have a friend that has wires and screws in her knee and a lifetime of pain from a drunk driver with no insurance. So I think a little humiliation is in order for a DWI

The sign should read, "the judge that convicted me also drives drunk but he has more money and connections that me".

In the U.S. you can get away with anything if you have the $$$. Ask O.J.

I’m not condoning drinking and driving, but certainly the affluent in our society gets away with it on a much grander scale than the common Joe.

I'm sorry about your friend ... it's not fair.

yeah me too:( she was 19 when it happened. Shes strong, shes dealing with it tho:)
But i do think they should do that to drunk drivers. Sometimes the drunk drivers try to sweep it under the rug so the family wont hear about it.........thus keeping them from getting humiliated. If they did that, then i guess they could be humiliated by their family finding out that they wouldnt do it again.

Saw something new the other day -- a roadside sign that said "Don't Drive Drunk" with an tag underneath: In Memory of (woman's name).

A bit subtle, perhaps?

They used to have them in TN alot. But the police were afraid that it would cause more accidents from people slowing down on dangerous curves etc etc, to read the signs.
Now they can put a cross with flowers or something on the spot where the person died on the side of the road, instead of the "in memory of" things.
