Do you aim to work reps quickly and slowly to work different aspects of the muscle? When you hold and contract the muscle for longer periods during the rep do you think you develop more muscle size?
I'm more of the power lifting school, however most people training for hypertrophy preach slow controlled reps with maximized time under tension, and squeezing the contraction at the top of the rep.
the objective of weight and resistance training for most people is breaking down the muscle. if you are a powerlifter the objective is more to move as much weight as possible. other people even just like lifting and don't care about the benefits, they just like the pump
