A student named Jay (who wants his last name to be withheld) at Brick Township High School in New Jersey, had his chair pulled out from under him after he refused to stand for the national anthem. The class started out that morning with Mantel yelling "I don't want to hear a sound! Not a sound! Morning exercises will come on, you will stand, you will stand quietly, you will pay attention! Any Questions!?...Now stand up and keep your mouths shut!" Students stood up as the national anthem began playing.
In the middle of the anthem, Mantel walked over to Jay and demanded that he stand up. Jay silently refused, and Mantel yelled again, "Stand up!". Jay then said "I don't have to stand up". To which Mantel insisted "You have to stand." Jay said "No I don't". Mantel then reached over and pulled Jay's chair out from under him. Jay responded to Stuart Mantel's outrageous behavior by asking Mantel "Are you serious?", to which Mantel yelled "I am damn well serious."

u guys didnt hear the whole story, it was a setup, the two students involved knew the teacher would blow up because hes a stickler for this kind of thing, so one of them took their phone out and recorded it while the other provoked the teacher by not standing and mouthing off....brick is less than an hour south of me and if i ever meet that prick u can be damn sure i'd hit him in the face

Are you talking about the teacher or the kid? We are allowed to protest the pledge if we so deem it as unacceptable in any way, shape, or form. What if ths kid protested to the under god part of it because he is agnostic or something? Would you consider that wrong?

No one can make somebody say the pledge nor can they make you stand etc for the national anthem. so that is where this guy was wrong.

a pledge is just that a pledge. if you don't want to pledge to the country don't take the pledge.

that teachers reminds me of my old business teacher, he asked me to throw out some paper I that some other dick threw and I told him I wasnt getting up for noone, then he came up to me and got in my face pointing and yelling, I got up and told him get the fuck out of my face and dont ever disrepect me again.....he made the guidance counselor give me a drug(steroid) test the next day..lol..and it wasnt your normal random drug test, they sent that shit to some lab in San Diego for a complete chemical analysis, good thing I was clean. or atleast the piss i gave them was.
