OMG! I checked out the Dermablend website! WOW!!!!

I SO can't believe it! Now, it says my nearest store is Jcpenney, did you get yours from a retail store or a dermatologist?

I'm so HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've used Dermablend in the past & got it at Strawbridge's.....so JC Penney's would be fine.... I used it to cover bad bruises -- worked great.

If its an NPC show or whatever organization, contact the promotor / host or your local organization rep to find out what they recommend. A tattoo can really destroy the aesthetic of a good physique w/ the dark protan & under the lights. They should be able to recommend a cover up.

Also I found a couple references:

I have a tattoo on my neck, which I had done before I was married. I love my tattoo, but at times it's not appropriate. Is there any such thing as a tattoo cover up? -- MDCRISCUOLO
Dear MDCRISCUOLO,
Tattoos can be covered with makeup, but it can sometimes be tricky. My undergrad major was theater arts with an emphasis in costume and makeup. One of my specialties was painting fake tattoos on actors for productions that needed them. I never had to cover up a tattoo, but I have covered unwanted bruises on actors, and experimented with covering some of my own body art. Professional stage makeup is the best for color mixing/matching abilities, plus it sets well. That is to say, it can be fixed so as not to smear. Kryolan has been my fave product line either for creating or covering skin art. For covering tattoos, I recommend their DermaColor [\B]brand.

A friend of mine here in Tokyo (Japan is ultra anti tattoos) got theatrical make up to cover her two large tatts. It worked a treat! She had to guess how dark she would be for the contest but I was amazed when I saw how well they covered. Please don't let it hold you back! I saw one other lady with a low back tat, maybe 6 inches or so long who had covered it with flesh covered fabric taping tape. It actually looked ok but at least theatrical make up should not run as it is made to work under stage lights. Good luck with contest prep and please don't let your ink stop you from competing with total confidence.

To be honest with you - I've judged in 3 states for 6 years for the NPC and so many people have tattoos now, we just don't even really see them. Unless this tattoo covers your entire back or something, I think you'll be okay. If everything else is right on point (conditioning, makeup, hair, suits, tan, presentation) - then I'm not even going to care about your tattoo.

Do what makes you feel most comfortable. Take care.

Thank you! Yeah, I was kinda freaking about the whole thing! I'm going to still try to cover it up, I don't wanna be the only one out there with a tat. I'm hoping the Dermablend will work like all the girls say. I just hope it doesn't rub off on my clothes since sportswear is before swimsuit!

Thanks again, whew! It makes me feel TONS more confident coming from a judge! :)

Thank QS!

You're welcome. :) Yes - just make sure its not going to run - which would look worse than nothing covering your tattoo.

"Sportswear" ??? - what kind of competition is this?
