I don't buy the whole "sugar alcohol" isn't a carb thing myself.....especially since it's something Atkins was known to have made up.....I'm going to count all carbs - fiber = net carbs.....

The only true way to determine if a product with net carbs alleging a small # truly doesn't affect you would be to do a blood test 45 min after eating it....like with one of those diabetic blood testers...
 
Sugar alcohols are HORRIBLE if you're one of the unlucky 1/4 of the population whose intestines can't deal with it.

All it takes is 10 grams of lactitol or maltitol to give me the fiercest shits and most explosive gas ever.

I beleive that it may have been SC or Mr. X who said that while these carbs don't have a huge impact on blood sugar levels, they must go to the liver to be metabolized, and once licer glycogen stores are full, the excess must be burned or will be stored as fat. Fiber is the only carb I don't count as part of "Net Carbs".
