Sued for overdue child support.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Italian porn star Ilona Staller, known as "La Cicciolina," sued her ex-husband Jeff Koons on Wednesday, saying he failed to pay about $1.5 million euros ($2.3 million) in child support ordered by an Italian court.

Koons, a one-time Wall Street commodities broker who holds the record as the highest-paid living artist, has paid just under 200,000 euros ($310,600) in child support since 1998, according to the lawsuit filed in New York State Court.

The couple divorced in 1994, and Staller took their son to Italy. Four years later, their divorce was confirmed by an Italian court.

Um... Is this legal? And if it is, why should he have to pay for a kid he can't even see grow up?

"I always felt my government would do the right thing and get my child back," Koons told the New York Newsday newspaper in 2003. "Now I realize that I might not be able to see and live with my child again."

Koons was originally awarded custody of the couple's son, who was born in 1992. But custody was later given to Staller, and Koons was ordered to pay 1,500 Euros ($2,330) per month in child support. "At no time during the Italian proceedings did Koons challenge the subject-matter or personal jurisdiction of the Italian courts," the lawsuit said.

Uh... could that be because it was is in fucking Italy and he's in New York?

Puddles, guys pay child support all the time and don't have visitation rights. Support is a right of the child not something that is conditional. Use two forms of birth control and never trust the wimimz..

PS Don't get married either.

Thats fucked up! Unless they are a child molester or something, they should have the right to see their child(ren). If a woman leaves the state/country then I think she should forfeit her support rights.

it's not HER support right; it's the kid's

look at Kimora Lee Simmons.

Good going Russell. I hope you get your ass handed to you paying $500k/month to that ugly ass golddigging whore.

If you're rich, and you marry someone you've been with from the very go, from the trenches - that's true love. If it's someone you meet at a strip club, while you're throwing $1000's around - I mean c'mon.

Hmm I am confused. What fucking jurisdiction does an Italian court have over a US child and father?

While the child deserves the support of the father, why does he have to pay 2330.00/month to raise a child he never gets to see? And how exactly did a court decide that a porn star mother is a better parent and should be given custody of the child?

If you tell the us govt you make $5M a year - they can force you to pay whatever.

If you keep your money all over the world. And live modestly on $150k. And you put that on your IRS form. They can't do squat.

And there's guys you can hire who can do that professionally for you, so the IRS is powerless. And ex-wifes lawyer even more so (good luck calling a Saudi bank and asking for a balance).

You think Britney Spears money is sitting in some Bank of America branch?

The globalization of the world's finances and the internet, is making it great for those who can afford the hiring of expert knowledge in this area.

Your average american is clueless on this and is stuck with Bank of America.

dude is a baller, he could fly to italy if he wanted to

Dude should get to see his son no matter what and there are usually pretty strict laws about moving a child out of country in a divorce. <sorry was distracted on the phone buying ammo>

I still believe that the parent receiving child support should be required to keep records of every dime to be certain the money is going where it is intended to go.

That's why she's suing in an American court, to enforce the decision. If he was that far behind with an Ohio court order of child support he would be in prison right now, once you hit 5k and aren't paying it's a felony.

Yeah cause thats not a hassle or anything.

fine, how would you do it?

would you confine the mother to whatever country the father lives in? state? city?

the mother's family is probably in italy; i doubt she is just jetting off to be a bitch

You'd have to get past being bitter at the mother first. But, any REAL man would do what he could for his flesh and blood and not consider it a hassle.

I guess there are few real mom's and dad's left in this world by the sounds of it.

( NOT a slam against you, just me typing aloud)

I think my answer has been clear for a long time... don't have kids.

I feel if you decide to leave the country against the others wishes you should be on your own.

Then again, any REAL woman wouldn't take the child away from the father, let alone move to another country, then sue him for child support.

She clearly doesn't have the child's best interests in mind.

I'M LAUGHING. What the hell?

How many times do the courts find these dead beat dad's in Ohio(or anywhere) and bring them into the court system? I bet MORE are missing than found! LOL LOL LOL FEW of these guys stick around ANYWHERE long enough. MANY dead beat dad's do NOT have jobs where a court could EVEN garnish wages IF found in another part of the country.

Let's keep it real now, Java. I can recall seeing VERY few dead beat dad's being brought to justice. MORE are on the loose- I can PROMISE YOU!

I personally know of five people that have spent between 9-11 months in State prison for child support. One is a guy my best friend grew up with.

They both are wrong.

Selfish people should not have kids, I agree.

Don't be certain...

She didn't ask him for child support if I remember correctly. She had the child's best interests in mind and is going it alone. That is respectable.

The fact that she doesn't even want support from him speaks volumes about the man.

And for the record I'm not trying to hate on women, I'd feel the same if a guy tried pulling this stunt.

I do not think that at alll.

I still feel reallllly bad for the child. After all, the child is the most important aspect of this entire story.

A lot of states are like that. You see those Wanted posters for Deadbeat Dads.

A mens group is trying to get Wanted posters for the women that move away and won't let the father see them.

What's good for the gander should be good for the goose. Or, some shit like that. lol

There ARE women who have to pay child support too. I'd LOVE to see what those stats show as far as them being dead beat.Hmm, interesting thought, I may have to check into this lil tid bit.

Poor choice of words, I agree. I SHOULD have typed " Real FATHER".

Personally, if someone wants to leave her family and hubby for dick in another state- it's her choice. It MAY not be a wise one, but she HAS to live with HER choice when that choice is made.

I always keep in mind, we NEVER know what goes on behind those closed doors in relationships. I'm NOT making excuses for anyone, I'm just saying people WILL have to live with their choices, so they better make good one's in the first place!

You don't want to see it. I had it somewhere.

1. women who have been ordered by court to pay....only around 50% pay (men around 70%)

2. women median payment is about 50% less than men.

3. Besides all that. Very few men request child support from women. So, most never even go to court for it.

Women are selfish.

Now lock this thread.

I've been working on some family law cases this semester. It is all so messy and frustrating. Reason #358 for never having kids.

Don't forget the double standard where NOTHING serious happens to them if they never pay whereas a guy will end up in jail in an instant if he falls behind.

I have to look at those stats. Sorry, I like to see it before I believe it. :)

I'd get stuck with child support and "maleimony". lol

Family law would be my very last choice for a practice as an attorney.

Author Susan Shapiro Barash has written several books about her research into female infidelity. And what she's found is astounding.

"Based on my research," the gender studies professor says, "I believe that 60 percent of women will at some point in their marriage embark on an extramarital affair."

I can say I'm in the 40% club.

I got my man trained. I have NO time to train another one; even if it's for a one night stand. Screw that noise. :)

No wrong done, the divorce was my idea we were incompatible as husband and wife but we were best friends. Our mutual friends claimed it was the most amicable divorce ever. Her current husband is good friends with Kilpatrick...maybe I should e-mail her and get some dish. :)

When my ex left, I was pissed the next girl would reep all the benefits of my hard work.
In reality, I realized "training" someone was the most ridiculous thing ever.
Now I just let "it be" and focus on myself and not having to fix others.

Life is easier that way ;-)

wow. that is something else, got me thinking

well, i can say with absolute certainty that I'm in the 40%

and i wont lie and pretend its because i'm in a super special marriage - lol

it has nothing to do with my love for him - more to do with how i choose to go through life

i've done enough in this life to qualify as a bad person by people standards - lol i dont need to add infidelity and lack of control over my emotions and body to add on to that

shit i've got at least another 60 years to live with myself.
