Ok yes you're completely right about the fatty acids, wasn't thinking that through. In theory what you said is correct, but the reason alcohol is not stored is because it will always be metabolized before any carbs/fat/protein because it is toxic therefore like you pointed out the next step of metabolism to the even more toxic acetyldehyde.
Any energy you need while drinking will be first supplied by the alcohol and only once all alcohol is metabolized will you start burning fat/carbs for fuel.
Maybe any macros including alcohol can be broken down to acetyl CoA yea, but its kind of a trick answer coz the body is designed to always get rid of alcohol first and that energy is burned. You get fat from drinking because the body stores all the carbs in your beer and rum n coke.
