Stupid assumptions made about the general public w/ weight training

Um, I'm kinda getting sick and tired that people at my work/school/anywhere else make these assumptions that because I"m vascular, they think i'm steroids. I mean, hello, anybody hear of low bodyfat %?

I mean I've been asked that question ever since I was 165 lbs and at 5-6%bf...165! LOL..

plus I usually have very low subcutaneous water levels anyways, therefore i never look bloated or hold water in my arms, forearms, or front delts.

And I hate the assumption when people go on and on how they need to do crunches so they can have a six pack..my friend in the air force was talking to me and goin on and on about how he wants a six pack and was wondering if i can help him. Well I told him the truth. Cut out the beer. The weed. Cut the carbs a bit, do cardio in the morning and do ab exercises 2-3 times aweek and he'd get there someday.

This dumb fuck was like, I cant give up the beer and partying, but cant I just do crunches a lot?

lol oh and this guy said that he's been trying to get "cut" so he's been doing push ups every morning with crunches...

People:rolleyes:

My favorite is when you show them how to workout and they (especially ladies) say "Well, I don't want to get TOO big...". Yeah, as if it's that easy!

Also I love the line "I don't do legs because I do a lot of biking/running/cardio, so that's plenty of leg workout for me."

But can't I just go get some Myostatin blocker and blow away your gains with 1/100th of the effort ! After all none of us actually do any real 'work' to our gains right? :FRlol: :FRlol: :spin:

LOL yeah thats a popular one...how about this famous workout routine:

Monday Upper body
Tuesday Lower body
Wednesday Upper body
Thursday Lower body
Friday upper body

Each training session lasting almost 2 hours

Yes that's me right after my show last month....thanks! And congrats on breaking the 200 lb. mark! I'm at 175+, but I'm really short. :)

this is why whenever a friend or family member who i have told how to get in better shape comes to me i say you wont do it anyways so im not wating my time planning you another diet/routine that will end up in the garbage

fucking assholes

When people find out I lift they say one of two things-
"wow, you don't look like you do, you're so small"
or
"why would you want to do that-- you look great right now, don't ruin it by trying to look like a man".

Right now I'm 5'7, about 135, 17%ish. My training is totally messed up from my wrist right now and I'm a fairly compact person, but I'm a hell of a lot more lean than the girls at the gym who way a lot less than I do. I agree with SM-- people act like I'm going to lift and then wakes up one day as a 200 pound female with 6% bf.

Mostly, people are lazy.

Thats so true

People think sometimes that to look like you look now your born that way or something

You dont need to workout, theres no fat on you !!! Why do you want to get bigger your already big !!

Why do girls say to you, dont put anymore muscle on its going to ruin how you look now, then they see a bigger guy on tv or something and say, oh wow look at him, yummy, why cant you look like that? !!

Most people try and talk themselves big and lean.

THE "MUSCLEBOUND" MYTH HAS MOSTLY DISAPPEARED BUT IT IS STILL WORTH MENTIONING. YEAH, LIKE I'M GOING TO BALLOON UP SO LARGE I CAN'T BARELY MOVE MY LIMBS...

lol.

i like it when they think they can lose 10% bf and add 10 lbs lbm in about 2 month when they very first hit the gym. then call me stupid for not going that fast.

also kakdiesel, if thats you in your avatar, your very lean and look aight but not 5-6 % bf are you? id say more 7-8 ish. i guess its a small difference anyway

How do girls you live with who dont take it as seriously, take to your diet? Does it rub off on them, or do you only date gym orientated women?

Also, when you go on a training course, and you have to stay in a hotel for a week or whatever, what do you do then?

Im doing a course in july for a week, and I want to stick to my diet?! but how im not sure yet, i guess tons of mrp's meaning a nice loud blender in my hotel room.

Jesus Christ!

Another good one is "yeah, but when you stop training you will get fat"...um, no i wont, and you are allready fat, so what is stopping you?

hehehe the other i actually had some guy tell me that it was impossible to get abs without taking steroids.. i just laughed.

:lmao:

Yup...I never know what to say when people hit me up with "you look good, why are you going to the gym?" lines...but oh well...

*Sigh* to be honest with all of you this is a pet peeve of mine that sends my blood pressure through the roof. I fucking hate ignorance, and nothing, NOTHING gets to me like ignorance in this subject...I can't tell you how many sales I've lost at GNC because I lecture people for being lazy or not having a good plan. :)

um.. dude.. you ARE on steroids aren't you??

wasn't it you that was on here talking about taking prop and something else for your cutting cycle..

if you are on.. or even if you're in between cycles.. but have used gear in the last three months or so.. then can't it just be that you've been pegged?

i mean if you ARE on steroids.. and people are assuming that you ARE on steroids.. then it's not like they're wrong.. right?

i think his post was more about the fact that the common public thinks steroids are what made his body, and he did not have to work for it.

I'm on steroids.. if someone said something to me I would hold it against them, and deny it because i know what the definition of steroids are in that common persons mind is. It’s like someone telling you “ you don’t work hard at all for what you have etc…”
