Still Losing Hair WHY!?!?!

I noticed last summer that my hair line had receeded back a litle less then a cm. and it definately went back about an inch on the front corners that cut in. This freaked me out enough because losing my hair is one of my worst fears and my father had almost the same thing happen to him when he was a young man. his hair receeded back until he looked like he had a big forhead and then thinned out as he got older on the top and back. He is almost 70 and still has hair on the top but it is very thin now. He never took care of himself well and I take care of myself a lot. He never took any drug to stop the effects and I have been taking the two hair related products from AG-guys. I have been taking them on a pretty regular basis and it doesnt seem to be doing anything. I definately felt very small side effects from the drug so I know it is there. My hair is strong all over but my hair line has weak hairs that let go easily and I was in class bored so for a test I just ran my hands through my bangs a bunch of times which caused a bout 20 hairs over a few mintues to drop out. I am freaking out now and I am feeling like transplants are the only thing that are going ot get hair back in those corners and make my frontal hairline thicker. I am freaking OUT!!?!?!?!?!:kaioken: :bigbuck:

what exactly are you taking?

start propecia... I've been on it for 10yrs..... fucking awesome.. there are some new stuff thats stronger... but I heard it kills the sexdrive.. I feel no drive loss with the normal 1mg per day amt..

I noticed alot of shedding from my present cycle and decided to use some finasteride to help out. Only been on it for about a week and it feels like my hair is getting worse and worse but i know it will take time. I was planning to only use finasteride when on cycle for preventative measures.

I have been taking finasteride and I definately noticed a little change in horomones... I also have tried the Dutasteride which is supposed to be for hair loss as well and they say it works better on balding in certain areas. I am also taking some femara every few days just in case I have any freefloating estrogen.

I am still losing the hair !~ it is very slow and subtle but after thee or four years of it it is obvious when I pull my hair back. AHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhh :redhot:

what hormones are you taking playa?

Finasteride (propecia) blocks the conversion of testosterone to DHT. It is the DHT that attacts the scalp and causes hair follicles in MPB prone people to stop growing hairs. Taking finasteride is meant to prevent further hairloss, and in cases where you catch it quick enough, can reverse some hairloss. However, it is important to note that this will only work whilst you are using finasteride, once you come off, any hairloss that you prevented will begin to occur.
Taking finasteride whilst on any steroids other than Testosterone will have no effect. Finasteride and Dutasteride only work with testosterone, and in fact, if taken with Deca will cause more hair loss than not taking it.
Typically, everybody with hair, prone or not to hairloss, will lose around 100 hairs a day. This is because of the growth cycle which goes through three stages.
Stage 1: The growth stage. At this time, the stem cells within the follicle replicate and grow new hairs. This lasts for 6 years on average, and it is this length of time that dictates the maximum length your hair will ever grow to. Trimming hair does not cause it to grow any quicker or thicker, that is a myth.
Stage 2: This is the transition stage and it is essentially when the hair follicle stops the growth of the hair. This stage lasts around 14 days.
Stage 3: The resting phase. The hair follicle does not produce any new hair cells in this stage and so the hair, that is now cut off from the blood supply will die. The sheaf around the hair, and within the follicle, will gradually shrink in size, and clump as a white crusty mass around the base of the hair. The hair will eventually fall out. The resting phase lasts for around 3 months.
After stage 3 is over, the hair follicle begins growing hair again. However, in people prone to male patter baldness (MPB), the cycle can be interupted, and the growth phase ended early. This is when the follicle is attacked by DHT and the follicle goes into stage 2 early. After stage 3 when the hair has fallen out, if the DHT has done sufficient damage, the hair follicle will no longer return to stage 1 and so no hair grows in this follicle from now on. If DHT has not done enough damage, a vellous hair may grow. A vellous hair is a tiny thin almost colourless hair. Taking propecia can cause vellous hairs to increase in thickness and colour and become non-vellous and so return to a normal growth cycle.
One thing worth noting is that hormone fluctuations can cause hair loss just as much as steroids. Taking propecia is a commitment you have to stick to for a long period of time as stopping and starting it can be worse on the hair than never taking it. That being said, most hormonal induced hairloss (other than DHT or androgenic derived - steroids being androgenic) is not permenant. It is known as stress induced alopecia though despite its name, is not just caused by stress, but many factors such as hormones, chemicals, stress, illness, infection etc... Some people when on a cycle may notice some hairloss within the first few weeks, this almost always stress induced alopecia caused by the hormone fluctuations and is usually not permenant. Permenant hairloss takes around 3 months before the hair actually falls out due to the length of time stage 2 and 3 of the growth cycle require.

Besides propecia, there are a few other products you can try. Minoxidil, Spironolactone (topical is usually recommended over tablets), azelic acid flakes, nourkrin (nutritional supplement) and dutasteride to name a few.
Finasteride and Dutasteride are similar in effect, though fina only prevent conversion through one of the receptors and not both like dutasteride. However, dutasteride is known to cause severe side effects in some people and is not usually recommended.

Propecia can grow back hair but I use it just as a preventitive measure at this point.

The difference between Dutasteride and Finasteride is that Dutasteride inhibits the activities of both the type 1 and type 2 5AR enzymes unlike

Finasteride which only inhibits type 2.

These enzymes are responsible for the conversion of testosterone into DHT.

Dutasteride decreases levels of DHT by 90 percent after only two weeks making it a much more powerful weapon against hair loss and BPH.

DUTASTERIDE will be the way to go then. I have been so mad I doubled up the duta and fina and noticed little or no sides. I was probably just pissed at the world and not feeling any different. I have been shooting huge loads on my girl, :blow:so there aren't sexual sides... Dutasteride might be the best thing then. I will keep the fina for backup and do the duta for the time being to try to save myself. I might still get the surgery anyway because I am that much of a perfectionist and in denial of looking old when I feel so damn young I am going to go nuts itf it isn't fixed or in the process of being fixed. I'm not the type of person that can sit back and let things get out of hand.

.5mg ed is about the highest that you want to take duta.
Anything above .5mg will inhibit same amount of dht as .5mg.
You're just wasting it above .5

sounds good. I will stick to the .5 duta daily for a couple years now and see what happens. Worst comes to worse Iw ill be making enough money in a year or so to afford a 3k procedure for transplants on ym frontal hairline and mid head area. I'm not afraid of surgery. i've had two rhinoplasty procedures and want fat injection under my eyes where I get dark circles sometimes. Ahhhh what we do to be hot.// :chomp:

I think your paranoid ... I played hockey all my life and thought the helmet was causing baldness.

When I was like 15 id run my hands through my hair @ school and tons would fall out.

Guess what? The average person loses like 500 hairs a day, and brushing them out manually obviously will excaberate this.

Well, I have a ridiculously thick head of hair still and turns out I was a vain and paranoid kid.

I dont use AAS mind you, and especially if your genetically predisposed (mothers father) DHT derrives steroids will speed up your body clock with regards to hair.

I'd personally use the finasteride. It reduces DHT by around 75% so not much difference to Dutasteride, but it comes with less side effects. Also, their are side effects that can occur from having so little DHT in the body. I can't recall what they where, but increased estrogen seems to spring to mind but don't quote me on that.

I think it has made a difference now. less hair is falling out. you have to take the drug very regularly. I have a slight side effect. the soldier stands at attention but has less feeling and the girlfriend hasn't been happy. Bitch, can't give me a couple days to get used to somthing. :chomp:

i have a strong belief that given the proper conditions, GH also helps grow hair. i did a couple kits last year and my hair was thicker and fuller than it's been since i was a kid, if not thicker. i'm about to start some GH along with assorted hair products to regrow all my hair that i lost taking a single vial of masteron. i've never lost so much hair in my life. its so embarassing. i'll let everyone know how it goes.

Taking finasteride whilst on any steroids other than Testosterone will have no effect. Finasteride and Dutasteride only work with testosterone, and in fact, if taken with Deca-Durabolin - nandrolone decanoate - will cause more hair loss than not taking it.

what about rogaine with the deca????? cease immediately?? I was hoping hgh and deca might make the hairline or hair little healthier!! :)

take it for what it is but some years ago i was shedding very heavy without any gear...i took one single injection of 100mg deca and the shedding stopped....crazy hein
try some minoxidil with nizoral and spiro...

Deca is only exasserbated by the use of Finasteride. Taking Deca without Finasteride is regarded as being safe on the hairline as Deca converts to something other than DHT via the 5ar and so does not harm the hairline in most people.
You could definately use topicals while on Deca, as the only problem with Deca comes when you prevent it from converting via the 5ar, which is a hormonal problem and would not be effected by a topical shampoo such as Nizoral.

This is a good thread... I was considering taking Deca... not now.. Finasteride also shrinks the prostate which AS swells.... But if I go over 1-2mg Ed....my dick wont get hard..
