Hi

Any advice on this area would be great... I have very limited knowledge....

My girlfriend is taking 40mcg/Clen a day 1 day on 1 day off, day off using an ECA stack... Is there a good reason to add winny at 30mg a day? Or anything else that is safe to strip fat, anti catabolic, and give you that really hard / dry look...

She wants to work towards doing some figure completions near the end of the year, she is 176, 53kgs, 17% body fat...

Any advice would be great.

Var will not strip fat. Winny would be better to gove her a dryer leaner look. As for the clen, if she's happy with it now keep on truckin. If not, go 2 weeks on, 2 off/

She is 5'8 117 lbs at 17% bf that is almost skin and bones I would think she would want to build more lean mass than anything.

IMO there is no good reason to give a women 30mg of winny a day pretty much ever that dose is way to high 5mg maybe 10 mg max but not more. Winny or Var are not fat burners they will not strip fat only diet will do that.

What is her diet and training like how many months out is she from her target contest? How long has she been training for? It might be best to get her online and posting I will give her free plat to do searches etc as well as she will have the input from all of the ladies on the womens forum.
 
I would start with 5mgs of var. Have her post up her diet. She could take all the AAS under the sun and if her diet is not spot on she will not get the results she wants. If she posts it up everyone can make sure it is spot on and she will get the results she wants from that alone. If she decides she still wants to add some var that will only help her get there a little quicker.

+1 on the skin and bones thing.

I would focus on training hard and a solid diet to put on some muscle.

I think she would be surprised at how the bodyfat will start to sort itself out.

That would be skin and bones. But she is 176 lbs. not 117. However, how can she be 176 lbs and 17% BF?

Anyway, can she post her diet. I mean everything she eats and drink through the day in order to guide her properly.

Defo, while BMI is not alway applicable, her BMI is 16.8, which indicates she is underweight.

17% bodyfat is quite low for a woman, we have different ranges than men.

Figure girls can compete at 12-14% in amateur comps.

Hmm, she just has a very thin waste line... I can put my hands around it… She def is not skin and bone... Just not been training long enough to have dense muscle mass to make her solid... I could also be mixing BF with BMI. :confused: I believe the scale I was using does BMI not BF I can re-do measurements and paste those and you can ascertain from this?

Diet...
Meal 1: Protein shake + fruit 24 grams protein / 20 grams carbohydrate
Meal 2: Protein shake (fruit) (24 grams protein 20 grams carbohydrates)
Meal 3: Pasta/Rice + chicken (20grams protein) around 30/45 grams carbohydrates
Meal 4: Pasta/Rice + chicken (20 grams protein) around 30/45 grams carbohydrates.
Meal 5: Protein shake (24 grams)
Meal 6: Paste/rice + mince / steak (40 grams carbohydrates 30 grams protein)

That is what her diet looks like most days in that kind of order... sometimes the chicken is replaced with cottage cheese and cracker bread (very low carbohydrate type of bread)

As you can see she doesn't have any carbohydrates first thing in the morning and normally last meal of day is around an hour and a half before bed, so she doesn't have any carbohydrates right before bed.

She tries not to consume any fruit juices or other liquids that have extra calories during the day besides, green tea or water and she does sometimes have tomato juice.

She supplements with Vitamin B12 / BCO 2mills a week and on a multi vitamin.

Once a week she will have a cheat day, maybe share a pizza.
She burns around 150/200 calories a day (4/5 times a week) doing cardio and does weight training too.

For weight training

Triceps (Cable push downs / kick backs) - Twice per week
Biceps (Straight bar curls) - Twice per week
Legs (Squats, lunges) - 3 Times per week
Calves (Raises) - Once per week
Shoulders (Side lateral and front raises) - Once per week
Crunches and sit up's every training day.
Cardio:
Rowing, step machine or treadmill

Rest around 8/9 hours a night.

Ok,so she is 117lbs as we suspected. She's also eating too much processed food and simple carbs. She needs good nutrition with good complex carbs and good protein, which she's not getting enough with.

Have her drink lots of water and NO sweet drinks. I suspect she might be craving sugar with her diet. Also add green tea, which is an antioxidant.

I'll highlights suggestions.

There's a thread on carbs. Take a look at it so you get additional choices. However, remember to keep it whole food. Nothing processed or made with flour. NO, whole wheat pasta doesn't work either.

Some of the girls will come in with help on workouts.
 
Shoe, I really appreciate the respone.. If I get home tonight and get the internet hooked up she can take over this thread... I will give her suggestions on diet tonight and start with a new shopping list tomorrow... It will also help me as then I will cook large ammounts of brown rice and eat that instead of the ammount of pasta I have been.

Eating fish most nights could also be used then for tightening up her skin.. hmmm, intresting to see what happens running this for 3/4 weeks. What would suggest with regards to cheat days? Should they be there or not?

Yes, you/she can have ONE cheat MEAL per week. Read: Not a day, but a meal..

Yes, it would be great to have her posting here. I'll gift her a plat membership so she can do some research around as well.
 
For weight training

French press/skull crushers, dips and weighted dips, close grip bench press are better exercises for building mass.
Biceps (Straight bar curls) - Twice per week

I would vary this with body drag curls/gironda curls, preacher curls, seated dumbell curls
Legs (Squats, lunges) - 3 Times per week

Is she squatting with an Olympic bar? Leg Press?
Calves (Raises) - Once per week

Shoulders (Side lateral and front raises) - Once per week

Military press, upright rows, Alexander Pederoff reverse grip military press. The figure look is capped delts.
Crunches and sit up's every training day.

Not necessary every day.
Cardio:
Rowing, step machine or treadmill
How long?
Rest around 8/9 hours a night.

Your girlfriend strikes me as more of an ectomorphic body type, tall and lean.

Training a multiple times a week is overtraining for ectomorphs, it is more likely to hamper muscle growth. Muscle grows during the recovery.

The advice for her is really no different than it would be for a man, lift heavy, lift to failure sometimes, enough recovery time, and for those that have a harder time putting on muscle, don't do a lot of cardio.

It is also best to hold off on steroids until she has had at least a year of solid training and a good base.

To determine how many calories she is buring just by the calorie counter on the cardio equipment. For machines that do not have this function I am unaware... I have told her to super set to keep heart rate up... So if she is training like that she will be hopping from 1 piece of equipment to the next... She still has some body fat to lose (smalls ammounts of fat around her love handles) I honesltly don't know what is the best to work with... maybe some lower back workouts will dig into that area?

The cardio machines are not that accurate unless they read your heart rate all the time.

If she finds it useful, get her a heart rate monitor/watch, Polara does the best ones.

If she isn't going to compete till the fall, I would focus on muscle building, the small amounts of fat will sort themselves out.

How do you train BTW? Are you doing heavy squats, deadlifts?

The best thing I did for my physique and training was train with the lads.

Exactly as you are training, occasionally mixing it up with supersets or German volume training.

Anyone who is a plat member can see the photos you upload.

Non members will only see them as a thumbnail, so an image file is more accessible to more people.

She has the frame for figure, long torso, narrow waist, ?long legs?.

Right now she would be able to compete in the bikini division if the IFBB has it in SA.

I would recommend you go to a few shows and see what the girls look like.

She is really motivated with her training and having me as her boyfriend i'm quite strict to help keep her diciplined... she really is focused to do this and go ahead with this. We both do not drink or smoke and just focus on training / sleep / and eating correctly...

Will post updated pictures in around a 3 months with the new diet listed above and maybe you can give pointers from there.

I honestly appriecate all the help, as good help is really hard to come by.
 
The one thing I do seriously advise is that if a woman wants to compete, to train and get her physique looking how she wants it to look.

The judging criteria often fluctates wildly, however, she is going to have to live with how she looks for quite some time.

Very hard to find yourself a partner that enjoys keeping themself just as fit as you do! And then not being full of themself but humble!!

If she wants to compete in figure, all she needs to do is get some lean mass and burn body fat. However, she does have the genetics for it.
Hard work and consistency will put her there by the end of this year.

She should definitely go and see some shows in order for her to see how the other girls look and how they do quarter turns.
 
Just wanted to stop in a say "hi". She looks great and with some awesome training her muscles will develop quickly. I too would focus on building mass right now and then worry with the fat loss closer to show. She'll find with heavy training she will be re compensating fat for muscle and will look great. Then, once she has the muscle, she can diet down and compete.

I have that same body type. It is very hard to build lots of muscle. Make sure she doesn't kill herself with cardio.
It was the worst thing I ever did.
I now diet for a show without cardio, and just longer duration.

She also needs to worry about over training. I used to workout 6x a week. Doesn't work for people like us.
She should lift heavy 4x a week max.

I agree that if you are going to compete you have to look the best to you. I judge and see girls trying to look certain ways because that is what one judge tells them. The next comp they lose because of the very look they tried to achieve. At the end of the day the competitor should be able to look at pictures of themselves and be proud of what they see and what they accomplished.

I completely agree! If you're going to do this, make yourself happy first and look the way YOU want to look. After all you'll walk around with that body and if you lose, you'll be very disappointed after working so hard. The majority of competitors train to look a certain way just to compete; I compete so I can get in the condition I want, just to look that way.
