Steel's balls to the walls tip for the day :)

OK, this is a selfish thread, mostly for me to just see it out there, because I'm in a bad spot for the time I have - oh well, such is life. Here are some things to think about, though, for when times get tough. Maybe someone else can find it motivating.

Anger, frustration, misery, despair, anxiety, hunger are your FRIENDS. USE them, channel them. When you feel you just can't go on, let the WORST flood your body, feel it rise in your gut, expand in your abdomen, and form a searing column in your core. I have a column of steel in me which I can make grow, it expands from the inside, fills my chest until I'm BURSTING, then EXPLODES in action - I can go harder, faster, endure more pain, close out what I don't need. I. CAN. DO. ANYTHING. I. NEED. TO.

YOU can FORCE your body to go WAY beyond what you imagine. You can bend your mind to the shape you need.

It's all a mental game. You can do SO much more than what you believe your limits are, and the achievement of the highest levels of effort and intensity possible, even if not your original goal, is a feeling FAR beyond simple satisfaction. It is ecstacy.

Great post...could not agree more.

However you forgot one emotion...FEAR. One of the most powerful motivators if you can control it. When going for a heavy squat or bench...think about the worst case scenario. The bar crushing you...pinning you so you can't breathe. Then during your attempt your only thought is "get this bar off of me". The Fight or Flight mechanism.

Balls to the wall....ovaries to the wall. Either way..."be intense or be somewhere else."

Steel, are SURE you're not a powerlifter?

LOL. Well, like I said, I'm definitely gonna try some of the moves next year. :) Raw strength doesn't seem to be my strong point though. I seem to be better at just going on and on and on.

Hey, you know Mel Siff works at the uni I'm going to, I think. :)

You got me Hannibal - that was on my list, just slipped my mind. That's actually the big number ONE on the list.

I totally disagree with Hannibal. We seem to adapt quite well in training though.

We're both headed to the same place...we just use different roads.

"Anger, frustration, misery, despair, anxiety, hunger are your FRIENDS"

Sounds like some of my backpacking trips :( It's not a feeling I seek when I'm at the gym, but hey, we all gotta stress and push ourselves somehow. Then again, you didn't even mention bodybuilding, so maybe you're talking about something else entirely.......

Oh, no, I don't seek these feelings. But when overwhelmed with them, the only options are to cave or to channel. I channel.

I'm talking about bodybuilding comp. prep., everything to do with it - the nazi diet, the all out training, the incredible isolation, the gnawing fear, the low energy .... but, heh heh, I've had a couple of backpacking trips like this too. :)

"but, heh heh, I've had a couple of backpacking trips like this too"

;)

Just outta curiosity, have you recently changed/added any supps to your program (eg thermogenics, leptinergics....)? I only ask because your posts FEEL like I feel when I start ECA/NYC etc...very, very catecholminergic!

I'm with you. No way I'm gonna convince myself to be afraid of the weight, and try to use that as a motivating factor.
