Starchy Vegtables Question ...

I do exactly like Spatts said- my early meals are starchy: CoW, small red potato. My last meals have green stuff: green beans, broccoli.

Another way to think about it is that you have to fuel what you are going to be doing. In the beginning of the day, you need energy to get you through the rest of the days activities - hence, you eat some starchy, high GI carbs for energy. As your day goes on, you need less and less fuel because of what you are going to be doing (sleeping, sitting). So you eat fibrous carbs because you need less energy (carbs).

How does this change if you do an evening workout?

If you do a morning workout one day, do you eat your starchy carbs early; then if you do a late workout the next day, do you eat them late?

I do starchy prior and fibrous post. That's kind of what distinguishes my "day" and "evening." I train around 6 usually...which in NOW! So ta-ta!

I do cardio in the morning and lift 3x/week in the evening (around 7pm). On the days I lift, I will always have a small PW shake, then eat my last food meal last thing of the day - 4oz lean protein and fibrous carbs. That usually ends up being around 9:30. Then bedtime between 10 and 11. Days without weights are differnt, but only slightly.

I don't really worry about day/night. I just think of the entire week in 24 hour time periods, determine my activity level for the days, then divide the day into 3 hour chunks and plan my meals around that. Little room for spontaneity when I'm dieting.

That's what works for me. :)
