Staph fatalities may exceed AIDS deaths

Staph infections such as mrsa and cdiff can't really become airborne. mrsa can be transmitted through sputum(flem) but the person would have to cough directly on an open wound on you. Cdiff is really only transmitted through stool so unless you're handling stool and/or your operating in an unsterile environment, the chances of getting it are rare.

MRSA is the one you gotta worry about though. It can live on any surface for I think an average of 10 days. It also never goes away kinda like herpes. It can be put into a dormant state but can flare up at any time especially is the persons immune system is compromised.

It can either be isolated to the persons blood and/or urine or can be topical. The topical type can literally eat through clothing. It can also completely upset someones blood sugar is they are diabetic.

You all can thank the doctors who have over prescribed antibiotics. If your ki has a cold, the last thing you should give them is amoxycillin. Why would you prescribe an antibiotic for a viral issue? It makes no sense and I don't know how it made sense 20 years ago. As long as the kid isn't running an excessively high fever (102+), let them ride it out. It can only make their immune system stronger.
It's pretty much because people demand a prescription, they don't want to hear they have to suffer through something, they want a cure. I remember an undercover investigation like 15 years ago where a reporter went to various MD's and described viral flu symptoms but requested "something for it" and got a prescription for antibiotics from 7 of 10 doctors. Their rationale, medicine is a business and if I don't prescribe something then someone else will; So much for the hypocratic oath.

I just saw this on the news last night. See working in a nursing home I am used to seeing mrsa...However seeing it in toddlers and school aged kids is a bit frightening...
Wonder if it will end up some type of epidemic?

That is scary.

Lyme Disease is one of the fastest growing infectious diseases in North America second to Aids.
This is the next big disease we need to worry about

Antibiotics Vs. super bacteria just shows that evolution is a fact.

that's what's funny about the anti-evolution nuts. Evolution can be actually seen in it's simplest form in bacteria.

They reproduce so fast that you can literally watch hundreds of generations within a matter of days. Since genetic mutations are a statistical certainty, one can watch certain mutations if better suited to thrive overtake the bacteria that do not possess this mutation.

It's hard to comprehend how one cannot understand this

Natural selection is a wonderful yet scary thing

I had Cellulitis in August.
I had no idea. Thought I just had a bone bruise and did nothing about it for a week.
I wound up in the ER.
They put and IV in me with all sorts of shit.
I was there the next two nights too.
Then it was a few weeks of Cipro.
I was reading the paperwork and it said if you have it in your leg NOT to walk on it.
I walked on it for a week, worked out every day and did legs.
Apparently, it can kill you if it gets too deep in your system...
Oooops!
BTW. I got it from a wood folding table my buddy hit me in the leg with. Hurt like hell but it was funny too!
