St Pete Meet Results Are In!

New member
First off i wanna say dam! The Florida crew kicked some major ass! I will let every lifter give there detail on how there day went but i will give some numbers.

Bench went like this:

Cubanito went 225 250 and just missed 265. And he was raw no shirt. Folks this kid is bigger then you think. He has some tri's. He benches narrow as hell. Those lifts wer done close grip! He is gonna make it in this sport guys. I am imppressed. Wait till deadlifts.

Grimmer went 330 350 and just missed 365, maybe groove problem. He has the strength. He is very knowledgable, and knows what it takes to lift big. And he is intense. The man is bad!

Freak 19 went 455 465 and just missed 480. All were State records and i think last was awrold record but i need to check all these records. He is a freak! I am so proud of how this guy lifts. I am very proud to train around him. He is so freakin strong, he had every lifter there coming up to me and asking who he is. Wait till deadlifts!

I PL Jay went 575 got it no touch with 605 and no touch with 620. Still took 1st but god dam shirts dont work right. I felt really weak. I didnt put too much effort into the lifts. I seen it wasnt going and didnt even try to push it up, i just said get it. Why wasye my strength on a lift that aint gonna pass. I had my own spotters and felt comfortable with them. So they did great for me and saved my strength. I felt dehydarted and very weak. I cant say shirt problem or anything but had a very bad day.

Deadlifts went :

Cubanito went 3?? not sure but hit 385 fast and easy then went 405 easier new record, not sure if its state or world, then went 425 and smoked it. Easiliy. The boy will pull 500 end of summer. This mofo is strong and has excellent deadlift form. I , and all of us there were very impressed with cubanito. he is very strong and i cant wait to see him in a full power meet. Good job bro! I am very proud of you.

Grimmer went :
465 500 535 all were so easy my wife who judged said he was doing pussy lifts for not going ot his max. (she speaks her mind!) He has alot more in him. I am impressed with his style and composure. God he is a good deadlifter. My wife said later he looked like he was picking up a bag of groceries! Put some weight on the bar!

Freak 19 fuck what can i say. he went 585 easy as hell 640 new world record, then hit 660 easier then 640. New world record. Then gave 700 a ride up to his knees. Guys for ya;ll that dont know he is the next Ed Coan. I dare any of you natsayers to question what i say. Because he will ou ttotal most anyone who steps to him at pen or other wise. He squats 800 will pull 700 in June, and hit 500 on the bench do the math. He weighed 235lbs.

Me and freak are looking ot go close to 2000 each in June. I need to evalute my shirts. He is on a role. So hopefully i can get Cubanito, grimmer, freak, Jimmie dean, and myself to team up and hit Daytona in June with a vengence. I felt like i made some good new friends and am so proud of everyone. I believe every body took mulitple trohys home mostly 1st place.

Guys tell your stories on your day!

I was at the meet, these guys are unreal!! I was very impressed with the lifts,,,,,,,,,,except Grimmer. Put some weight on the bar Bro!!LOL :D Just joking Bubba, you did look like you were still warming up. You'll be pullin' 600 very soon.

My hat is off to all the guys, FREAKIN AWESOME STRENGTH!!!!!!!

Jays right , I'm proud to lift and meet all of these florida lifters and the ones from this board represented to the fullest. It was unreal!!! I know that everyone from here that was there came home with trophies and am damn pruod of all ya'll.Mine went like jay said.
335 cake
350 pretty much cake
365 (long story but missed)

Deads , Hell what can i say everything felt light.
460 like a warmup
500 cake
535 cake
I knew i could hav e gotten 550 but i wanted to stay with my game plan and it got me 1st in the 220's.

What else can i say. The FREAK is unreal. Cubanito is awsome for his age just needs to start lifting with some peole who know what there doing. Jay ... I'll leav it at that. Jimmy Dean didn't compete but is the best lift off man in the game. I'll give a shout out to Phil a.k.a tap out , and the rest of the Florida lifters. VERY IMPRESSIVE!

Sorry John I get you and Jimmy dean mixed up , I think. Southpaw is te best lift off man in the game to clarify.

IT was one HELL of a day. Everybody did good. Im so proud of everybody. Grimmer i think was just playing around in the deadlifts. Cause all of his lifts looked like openers. Cubanito he was just hoping for a 405 deadlift and the kid got 425 at his first meet GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!
PLJAY he has it in him all he needs to do is get a shirt that fits him right caUSE ive seen him move some weight in the gym. But todays over and we just need to get ready for the BIG one in June!

Well for me my Bench went like this:
455 opener
465 second
480 just missed lockout

so i ended up with a 465 bench

On to my Deadlift:
585 opener
640 second
660 third and a NEW PR!!!!!!!!!!
then just for shits and giggles I went for a 4th and tried to take 700 for a ride and i got half way up. but i got to tell you guys i didnt think i was gonna get it off the ground, and i pulled it just to my knees.

GREAT LIFTING GUYS! CONGRATS ON THE PR'S!

Florida Crew Kickin' Ass!

Congratulations to the members of the Florida crew that lifted.

PLJay - There aren't many people in the world who can bench 575
lbs. and have an off day. You are truly an elite lifter. Your
love for the sport and willingness to help other lifters speaks
volumes about you personally. Special props to you!

Freak19 - Awesome numbers! You have a gift, now all you have to
do is continue to work hard and keep your head on straight
and you can go as far as you want. Did I mention
awesome numbers??? Freaky Numbers!

Grimmer - Tremendous job, taking first in the 220's. I don't think
you truly know what you are capable of but I have a
pretty good feeling we're getting ready to find out. Your
future is bright. When are we going to find out what you
can truly pull??? 600 lbs. by the end of the year for sure!

Cubanito - Did you have fun? What's up with the light lifts? Just
kidding... Your first meet was a huge success. Your
numbers are outstanding. I bet you wish your highschool
meets included the deadlift instead of the power clean,
huh? Only good things to come for you! 17-year old
freak in the making!

JimmyDean - I hear good things about you through the grapevine. I
can't wait until you unleash some numbers for the
board members to oooh and aaah over. I expect big
things from you in the future.

Congratulations again and I hope each of you is as proud of your lifting as the members of this board are of you. In the immortal words of Dennis Leary, "The Florida Crew is knocking at the door and I think they're coming in!" Booyah!

- Screwball

Thanks Screwball. Great group we got here. I dont care what anyone says powerlifting is a team sport. With out my team i dont lift right. And i hope our next meet in June will include all these guys on a now bigger team.

And even though i had an off day watching these guys break records and get intense was my best meet so far. Its like watching your kids.

Ya know though, befroe you lift when you help otheres with equipment and hyping them up is 1st nature. Everyone was screaming at everyone. You need that. Adrenaline counts for extra pounds. I just wish Brian mIncher and screwball and big okie lived in florida. Hell i wish all of ya'll did. But i know those 3 are working on a unity in Oklahoma. BUt anyway...

Hey brianmincher dont reply your results here start a new thread but if you see this how'd you do? Record?

great job everyone, very impressive numbers and some nice records. i wish the meet i lifted in in march with IRBD was sanctioned, so i could've gotten a feel for a real meet.

cubanito, how old are you and how much do you weigh?

HEY Guys just got back and man did I HAVE FUN!!!!!! Well this was my first meet besides the high school meets i do. Yes I wish they would have deads instead of power cleans. Also I'm 17 and weighed in at 177. For me it went like this:
Bench 1st 225 I had a little trouble but got it(wasn't psyched enough)
2nd 250 blew that shit up I was mentally prepared for that one and that's not a new record for me I've hit it before.
3rd I gave it all hell and took a ride with 265 I believe I was a good 6 inches from lockout and failed on it. Either way I wasn't really all that mentally prepared for this one.
Deadlifts 1st 335 I struggled with this as an open(don't know what happened after that)
2nd I went 375(new PR) and blew that shit up WAY better than 335.( All I had to do was tighten up
3rd 405(new PR) Blew it up like 375 felt good too
then for my 4th attempt(hopefully a state record or world,?????)((Jay did you check on this for me yet)) 425 and blew it up just like the rest of them.
What really helped me alot was the support from ALL these guys John(either jimmydean or southpawse) was a GREAT spotter and AWESOME motivater. All the guys were GRIMMER, PLJAY,FREAK(he really is a freak!!!!),John. and everyone else there if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have done it. OH YEA and Paul and Jays wife(great judge). I just wish I knew how to post pics I think Jay is gonna try to get them on here. I really want to thank GRIMM he had an extra belt for me or else I probably woulda thrown out my back.

In jay's case if it wasn't for the DICKFACED head judge and co.(not JAY's wife) He woulda had a better day. They loaded 565 on his first attempt instead of 575 which that's why the very first try it never touched if his shirt woulda fit right(dunno what's up with that shirt master) he woulda done the record. Also just lifting on half a sandwich and snickers bar wasn't enough, the sandwich looked nasty honestly.

GRIMM man he was awesome he shoulda gave 550 a ride for deads either way he's strong as shit.

FREAK holy shit this kid tore a new asshole outta that record I think his 1st attempt broke the record then set 4 records for himself. He truly is a freak.

I find myself that I need to do board presses mostly 3 and 4 that's where I was weak. I also have to widen up my bench to see if I can get stronger at it. I'll most likely be doing the JUNE meet and hopefully be on JAY's team also this meet felt like I was a team member there.

I felt bad for the other guys there where the judges didn't know how to count the weight. I swear they needed calculators to add up the weight. A bunch of DICK'S I tell ya. ;)

One flaw I find out I had is I stopped doing abs for a while and GRIMM can verify for me man was it hurtin b/c of not doing abs(GRIMM they were hurtin even worse this mornin:( ).Also I forgot to say my lifts were RAW b/c my shirt never came in, stil hasn't  I want to train it it to be able to use it in JUNE. And with that 3 lift that's gonna take WAY more outta me than this one did. My high school meets I never even feel them after that day this one I can tell i'ma be hurtin.

Cubanito,

Your first dead was the hardest because you drove your hips up before lifting your shoulders(to much back, not enough leg drive). Your 2nd and 3rd lifts you had perfect form, raised your head and shoulders just before driving your hips. For a 177lb man you put on a great performance!!! Awesome lifts!!!

Great job all!
Especially for all the new PR's!!!!!!!!
Sounds like the Florida is the place to be!

Anyone here how brian did?

Thanks southpawse are you John and if so does jimmydean train with you guys and was he there. See I wasn't sure about that.
K4101 Thanks again man. Yea FL does have some strong as fuck lifters.

Great lifts everyone!! You guys rock and it's cool to come on here and read about all you guys being just as excited about these things as I get and everyone was supporting each other. Just seems like there is a lot less bickering compared to the bodybuilding contests(i know there are exceptions, but for the most part anyway).

I agree with you Jay that powerlifting with a team is important and feel it will take you to another level. I have totally converted my new training partner from bb to powerlifter in only 2 months. Another one of my buddies gets in at least one session a week with us now. The three of us and maybe one other friend(if healthy) are going to compete together probably about 3 more times this year. Looks like 2 of those will be sanctioned. I can't wait.

We should all make plans and try and hit a meet somewhere in the middle. Like a Virginia meet. That would be f'n sweet! :D

Hey guys just wanted to clarify who is who. Jimmie Dean is John the lift off man. He will lift in June in a full power meet. He is very strong and calls my lifts and motivates and lifts off better then anyone in the world.

Southpause is Shannon ( hope i spelled it right) he was the thick dude motivating everyone at the table were our gear was outside. He has come along way himself and is a great motivator. Hopefully we can have him on our team when he wants to compete again. Thanks for coming and suporting us bro. When ever you wanna lift again we got a spot for ya.

Just for the record, it may be or it may not but i am looking to do a meet in May for a tune up for june. It will b ein Lakeland if we do it. But not sure yet. So guys be ready for a meet i will have 2 months notice so i wont just spring it on you. But wait in see.

Dam what a weekend i dont know about ya'll but i am beat up. I realized i was very achy and didnt feel hydrated enough. I am taking this entire week off. I am overtrained and to totally burnt out. Handling 600 plus since before my Jan 20th meet has takin its toll on me. When i un racked that weight my arms and elbows ached and there worse to day. 1 week i will feel fresh and ready to start prep for june. Good job guys, Florida is the place to be!

Here is what i got record wise.

Cubanito i am not finding the Fl stae record for teen. SO i am not sure if you broke th erecord. I am willing to bet you did. I will contact the president but it will be awhile cause he is gone for a while. But the world record is 505 for 181lb limit 16 to 17 yr old. I hoep this puts a smile on your face. Cause bro you will break very soon. World records arent easy. I dont have one. You will get it. This summer i bet. So "HEAD UP"! Did you hear me holloring that?

Freak19 you little beast you broke the world record for the 19 yr old 242 bench which was 455 you beat it by 10lbs congrats new wrld record holder! And you broke the world record deadlift by 95lbs! Congrats again. You need to contact Scott taylor so you can get certificats for your records. Good job bro.

Congratulations to everyone on the St. Pete meet. I started a new thread regarding my results. As you can see from the thread title, they were less than stellar, but I will come back stronger in my next meet.

Everyone, great job. Congrats on all the records.

B

Hey guys i forgot to mention a some very important people. I fogot just because people don tpost doesnt mean they dont read. First off i am sorry.

Phil AKA Tapout. He was my side spotter and took some great pics. The only reason i didn tmention ya was because i didnt knwo you read here and i also just mentioned the crew here on elit fits, so everyone would knwo who i am referring too. But Tap out is very important link on this crew. I have trained with him the longest, and he is a great motivator. One of the best around. He is also one of my very best friends. Sorry bro i didnt mention ya in the crew. But i pretty much left out all who didnt post here just to keep it simple. I didnt mention my wife who without her i dont lift well at all. She motivates me at home and lets me knwo i am the baddest mofo in the world. She pays my way, drives me there, judges as a favor to me. I dint mention my grand parents who drove a long way to watch and really enjoyed having them there.

As far as the June crew goes again just so everyone knows who is who i metined the crew on board here at elit fits. But i will hopefully get more people then just here to go and lift.

Sorry i left ya out tap out, you helped a ton. You knwo i need ya there i only ask Jimmie Dean and you to come. Because you too are the best. Hey you were thickest bitch there, and we all knwo you could tap out everyone in sight!

Its funny that you'll post on Ben's sight but you cant say jack shit here! Why is that?

Florida Trip Maybe...

I don't want to be talking out of my ass but I may have to make a pilgrimage to the holy, powerlifting land of Florida in June. If out-of-state lifters are eligible I may show up to try and post a decent total. It would be awesome to meet the Florida crew and lift at the same meet.

- Screwball

This board and all ya'll who post on it are great. I am suprissed how sore i am today and yasterday. My back is all sorts of tight and won't be doing anything for it this week. I can't wait till the next meet.

screwball

Hey bro i did the APF FL state a couple years ago and there were guys from Georgia and alabama and a few other places. SO bring your ass down its a blast and plan on staying the weekend, cause Daytona beach in June is always fun!

Also the APF Southern States his also held annually in Daytona beach, same place just in Dec.

Holy shit freak you broke two records in one day :D sweet. Man I wanna break a world record now That's what I'm going to strive for. I do know one thing whether or not I broke tha state record in deadlifts. Jay and guys hopefully all of you will back me up with support like all of you did sooo good. I will be going for the world record 505 I think with a good deadlift suit and me training especially that area I can do it by JUNE. I just have to make sure I don't catch any colds or get any injuries. All of you guys are really great when it comes too support. And especially the FL crew Phil(tapout) was a great motivator and Jimmie Dean is a great spot I can't wait til he competes b/c with as much knowledge as he has he's gonna tear shit up. Freak are you doing the June meet?????? and are you gonna be 20 years old by then:D ????? No offense but it's a little hard when you have another teen that can completely whhhooooop the shit outta ya when your striving for 1st and 2nd place. Jay did you get those pics yet???? I'm gonna look around to see if I can find the record that's all I found was the World record myself. keep lifting hard guys and I hope my 1 week recovery helps me out ALOT. For that meet in June what can we wear gear wise????

Hey jay thanks to prometheus posting on another thread a link to USAPL I found out that 16-17 division 181 weight class American record deadlift is 451.75 so I think that the FLorida record is mine. I just have to contact scott@apa and find out for sure then start looking into what I have to do. And that record the American one and the 181 weight class 505 deadlift I plan on smoking by the time June meet comes around. For right now I'm going to get up to 200lbs(weight wise) by taking a mass gainer then 2 weeks before the competition start droping carbs slowly by 50-75g then the week I take off just completely carb deplete and after I weigh in start the Gatorade and Snickers.

Hey bro i got pics but need to get them in my PC. When i do i need to send them to someone who can postthem. I cannot.

Make sure the stat record is apa and not usapl. Thats 2 different orgs, completely different. We will find out , just be patient till Scott taylor gets back.

Gear wise you can wear 2x gear on all. So get the best. Hardcore squat suit, denim shirt , and maybe a champion suit to pull in. And then use it so your familiar with it. Then go raw till about 3 weeks out then put it on , bu tyou will knwo how to use it so then you can max out and test your strength with gear. We'll walk you through it.

Thanks Jay I'm getting the inzer champion suit I heard that it's good for squats too so I might just use it for both, I don't like squats all that much but you gotta do them to get stronger. I'm gonna go ahead and call inzer right now and see sup with my shirt. How should I use the shirt while training we got about 10 weeks til this meet so I'm in training mode and only 8 weeks to train with the rest of this week off and the week before the comp. Hopefully I'll do my 3 caddy's with a shirt for pause I just have to work on those board presses and before workin on them I have to build them. I'ma try and stay away from my HS meets. I hate fucking cleans. So many guys total more than me b/c of cleans it's not funny and then I pause like 30lbs more than them but they stil beat me b/c of cleans if one kid does 225 bench 225 clean&jerk. He beats me with my 250 pause and 180(maybe then maybe185) clean and jerk.

Every body has a weak link. Most do anyway. Just get your gear and instead of trying to cover all of it now email me and we can walk thorugh it.

Grimmer the June meet is the APF FL. State. It is a full power meet. And is a great place to lift. Shit i say good place, last time i lifted there in a full power meet i fucked my hip up so bad, my opening squat just about ended my squatting career for good. It was months before i could squat again. BUt i will shake bad memories and go big!

YOu need to plan this one. June 1st.

No wonder I couldn't find details in tha APA website it's an APF meet. I'll look around for more details on it. I might not be able to make it afterall JAY with graduation and everything going on I graduate I think May 24 and grad night and prom and all that shit come after SO I have to see if I can make it or not. If anything I'll go up there last minute depending on how stressed or tired I am. The last thing I wanna do is compete and feel really shitty especially in a 3 lift.

I know there are other meets, but the thing is there aren't that many in FL and if there are any there not that close so when I get my family into it and parents that they decide to say yes lets do it. then I get all pumped about doing it. I found out that most likely time wise I'll be able to make it stress or tiredness wise dunno yet until after all this stuff.

I Have found a few meets that you might want to do. There is Bobs in lantana near you next month, AAPF State championships May 11 in Tampa, and APF Push/pull July 20th. So if for some reeason you miss June then you can do one of these.

Thanks cytomel BOB told me about that one but I'm not a great bencher. Thanks GRIMM as of now I'm doing the JUNE meet but if for some reason I can't do it then I think that the APF record for deads needs to be broken by a lil cuban-italian JULY 20th. I'm not a fan of squatting and due to long 23-24 inch arms i'm not a great bencher so I'm made for deads. And I like them especially since I set 3 new PR's for myself in doing them and I hopefully broke a state record.

Top Bottom
