*Edit: I do believe they should still be charged because they had sex in a public place, but it should be no different from doing it in a park or something. This kind of thing shouldnt get so much publicity, it fucking ruins their reputation world wide over something so stupid.

It's just something you don't do. That's all there is to it. They deserve to be prosecuted, but only because they had sex in a public place. The fact that it was in a church was tasteless, but it doesn't make it any more illegal.
